Like it said in the comic, it's like the year 2000 bug but in worse. If you Google "Year 2038 problem" it will link you to the Wikipedia page which explains it pretty well.
In short, at 03:14:07 on January the 19th of 2038, we'll reach the end of the 32 integer. Past that point, the 32-bit systems won't be able to continue to work as programmed to as they can't see past that time.
