Nice drill, I think good idea is to alternate the order of movements to not go into the 'ballet budo' routine. Other than that I think fluid continuous movements are great way to learn to not be static but move dynamically and look for opportunities.
At first, I thought this was going to be silly stuff rooted in tradition at first, but this kind of flow is a very nice training tool and I have to say I'm impressed. I would imagine once a person can do this quickly with strikes and other advanced evolutions this would become very applicable.
i like to do this drill to but adding the foot entrapments stepping on the foot and using the knees against the knee to shift their balance and jeppo seshu breaking balance 10 ways with kihon. then adding the earth feelings of the godai. man budo is sure fun. great work guys
These flow drills are excellent! I never stop and realized how many endless possibilities are in this art. This is why I like ninjutsu so much, it is unlike most martial arts. It never ends.
Yes, you are technically right, thx. Kihon Happo is Torite Goho & Koshi Kihon Sanpo. The Koshi Kihon Sanpo are Ichimonji no kata, Hicho no kata, Jumonji no kata. Torite Goho are Omote Gyaku, Ura Gyaku. Musha Dori, Ganseki Nage, Omote Gyaku Ken Sabaki Gata. We include Muso Dori and Onikudaki as in the Kihon Happo here because they offer similar angles and methods of manipulating the balance of uke as both Ganseki Nage and Musha Dori - 'tho done from different distance and thru a different joint.
@Fairplayguy2 - Some people have incorporated Ninja techniques into their personal MMA training and usage. Bujinkan/Ninjutsu practitioners do not take part in MMA style competions, per se, as it is not in alignment with the philosophy of the art. Thank you for your question and if you are an MMA athlete you would benefit from Bujikan learning. Click on some of the links we provide to find out more. Good luck with all your life-long martial arts training.
@NinjaLearningNetwork - Yes, I am currently practicing MMA. I wanted to join Bujinkan way before i even knew about MMA, unfortunately there isn't a local Bujinkan dojo. I will eventually practice both at the same time. Thank you for the response.
@Fairplayguy2 Small joint manipulation along with may of bujinkan's front chocks and even some of the palm and elbow strike are illegal in mma, budo is for the street and spiritual enlightenment so it makes an awkward transition to the cage. My buddy from the dojo does mma as well as bujinkan and he says it has really helped him against wrestlers.
When your student begins do all the wrist locks and Arm bar locks, have him step on the opponents lead foot so the opponent in real life can not move away so easily. it is easier to topple and throw him off guard . also when you do this and the opponent is close enough it is easy to use your hip to throw him off balance, Masaaki Hatsumi is famous for these moves.
Thanks for the video's it gives me something to do.
I like what you are doing. It is similar to the way that I teach my Ninpo Wrist lock set and Locking set. I am happy to see that there are so many similarities to all Ninjutsu Styles and systems. Great job!
That is a super nice drill. Very simple in the basic form - which is good - and open to all sorts of complications and difficulties to build in in later stages. I love the progression you have shown from standing to stepping to doing a punch in between.
If you do this for a year with ever increasing difficulty, the my guess ist that your muscle memory for this will serve you well under very difficult circumstances.
This is one amazing video top notch . Excellent demos and you are a very articulate speaker and a good teacher. Thumbs up and favourited. Nice to see the body movement added into it.
I find this drill to be important. Of course a real fight won't be this simple, but it helps teach how to flow from one technique to another.
