@RolphanFergis yeah fair play, i was off my tits when i said that... but i got more thumbs up than you, so obliviously others agree with my incredibly pompous comment. So suck it. Asshole.
Just to be on the safe side of sanity, I stopped looking, except the occasional search online. Still nothing.
But then this reissue came along. And it was worth the money. And the ten year wait.
Its the atonal harmony. And the nonchalant style. I honestly don't believe there is another piece of recorded music like it. Well, it's in my top ten greats, anyway.
I don't care how much it cost - I had to have it. I heard this track once and once only on the radio 10 years ago and became obsessed with it. It was always the first thing I looked for whenever I entered a used record store. 9 years later, I started to wonder if I was losing my mind, and the track didn't even exist.
I saw them perform in DC a long time ago. They played this but I thought it sounded quite different live. But its the song that stuck with me from that evening.

no one understands sun ra when they first hear him, but when they 'get it' he is the greatest musician of all time.

I bet Syd Barrett was into Sun Ra.

@bol316 This may or may not be true, but I have heard that Pink Floyd was influenced by Sun Ra, especially for 'Atom Heart Mother'.
