  • I agree we're bad judges of our own characters... but far more often it's the opposite way around - really bad ideas that people think are genius. or even just a mediocre idea that someone thinks is clever... and too much of that gets put out there! So what do we do about that?

  • I think all rooftops of apartments downtown should have greenhouses on them where the food is shared in the building. So you don't have to transport as much food to stores but eat from your own rooftop. Herbs, veggies, berries, etc. One or two people in the building take care of the greenhouse. Simple but great idea.

  • Thanks :)

  • That's how Justin Bieber became popular

  • I really love it. Thank youuuu :') :') :')

  • man, I love this guys videos.

  • Fantastic description of what many would-be entrepreneurs probably feel. I think just about everyone can relate to this.

  • Thank you for this :)

  • wate of time

  • Thank you.

  • thats why you have to believe in yourself. If you dont then what you say or create will come out of fear of judgement by other people.

  • Very cool. Thank you for this!

  • Thank you. I needed that right about now.

  • An artist is their own worst enemy.

I know an artist who was amazing.. and he quit drawing for years because of his comparison to another artist.

  • Splendid.

  • Thanks, as an aspiring musician, this really made my morning.

  • Inspirational!

  • Great video! Good thoughts. Good thoughts for regular life, too. We often cut off communication because we think hints are good enough... but people only know how they think so it doesn't always get across. It is better to get everything out so it can be dealt with.

  • Thank you. This is exactly what i needed to hear when i needed to hear it.

  • Thanks for missing out the UK and Ireland at the end!!! You even put Cyprus in FFS! D:

  • Love this. <3 Yay, it made me happy, thanks for sharing this.

  • Simply not true.

Every great musician or inventor 100% knows which in 'good stuff', they are proffesionals.

Now days there's huge abundance of everyone expressing their stupid ideas, that are no good and no one wants to hear. This vid being one of them.

  • This got me motivated to start my own company!

  • @IHaveAWeaknessFor Why the fuck would anyone want to do this stupid bullshit?

  • Very respectable video

  • Scumbag video:

Says to put our ideas out there

    Is unlisted

  • @firebanesword I might mention the UK to him. It's obvious to me, but apparently he never thought of it 1:30

  • Well. Well. Well. Aren't we all just BEAUTIFUL, UNIQUE... snowflakes..

Tyler Durden was right. This video intends to give us all the feeling that our thoughts are special, that they matter, that they aren't just the electrical impulses passing through the decaying organic matter that is the human race.

    It is wrong.

  • @gatsby2367 Why yes, i also saw fight club

  • @gatsby2367 Well aren't you all nihilistic and shit. You're obviously not reiterating the ideas of this fictional character because you believe them to be true. You want to stick out, and by implication, you want to appear special - because you've got it all figured out. It's like the faggots dressing in all black and labeling themselves nonconformists by conforming to another sub-culture. It's stupid, and you're stupid.

    And Fight Club fucking sucked.

  • @Cynixify lolwut i dont even care if ppl reply, i've never even replied to anything on youtube before.

way to resort to personal attacks instead of arguing something interesting. you mad bro?

  • @gatsby2367 You obviously cared enough to reply to my reply. Way to contradict yourself.

  • @Cynixify ur mad. im done here.

  • @gatsby2367 You couldn't even troll your way out of a policestation lolol

  • @gatsby2367 Someone needs a hug.

  • @YOUNOTCOOKING

yeah, this is probably true. lol. opinions change based on moods. on the whole, i dont agree with the message that everyone's ideas are special, but I think that pride in one's self is the most important thing in life- and this video does provide a boost to that. it's an escape from the reality that no one is special, but we all need that feeling. i really could use a hug lol

  • Artists are never satisfied with what they make.

    I like this video.

  • i hate unlisted videos.

  • 1:30

I'm noticing a distinct lack of Britain.

  • @GravDuck >Holding back something so obvious to share :3

  • @GravDuck The UK has indeed vanished off the map.

  • @GravDuck You made my day

  • Wow that was amazing I don't know how you came up with that!

  • راائع لأبعد الحدود .. أنا قولت الكلام دا كتير لناس أصحابى !

  • Respect your own ideas! I love the way that is visualized here.

  • i want the book, but i cant get it :(

  • THIS IS THE BEST OF YOUR VIDS FTW! Wow this video really enlightened me, every1 always tells me that i'm smart and stuff, but I never think that my ideas or what i say is anything near what i am told.

(BTW i don't talk/write anything like this in reality, online i try to relax and just well, talk, where as i in reality try to . . hmm . . . hard to explain)

  • @RaawHax in reality try to what?...

  • @fa7she88 As i said, hard to explain ;( but err, well, i have no fucking clue as to how i should say it.

  • @RaawHax Aspergers much?

  • The idea for this video is so smart, i wish i had come up with it.

  • so true!!!

  • Wonderful. When I teach artists and other creative and healing professionals marketing, I always tell them that their niche is where what is obvious to them is news to someone else.

  • Love this -Thank you for sharing!

  • Ummm, no. Sturgeon's law is far more relevant: "90% of everything is crap".

So share your best 10% but please please use that delete key and trashcan to keep the awful 90% off e-mail, Facebook, etc.

  • @skierpage

But you don't know which 10% is good until you throw it out there you fucking retard. Go back to Reddit.

  • Thank you for this video, my friend.

    I really needed it.

  • Bravo! Great stuff...and I love the drawings/animations that you've done. My favorite is that your globe showed the side of the earth where the U.S. is not. Quite global of you! Thanks so much.

  • What about mildly creative people who think they're GENIUSES? I know some humble creative people & talented folk who are terribly underappreciated. But what about the people who think that their ideas are the BEST ideas, and, er, they're really not... To them, it is obvious how great they are! And to other people, well, they're amazed that person came to that conclusion. They outnumber the brilliant people who think themselves ordinary. Yup, we're clearly bad judges of our own creations...

  • @sockpuppety - I do find brillaint people inspiring, but I find those self-promoted geniuses keep me grounded - when I start to stray into "I'm so great" thinking, I look at them, and how inaccurately they see themselves, and I know if I think it's a good idea, I have to WORK at it, and I might think it's a better idea than it really is... I'll put it out, and let the world decide, I guess. The world might not think it's so great...

  • Awww you didn't include Ireland on your globe!

  • I love this approach and content. Reminds me of a time I was in a "scat lab" workshop with a well-respected jazz-vocal teacher (something I rarely attended but went to work out my voice, prepping for something). I looked around and suddenly realized those singers wereall there to learn something that is in my blood and organic, and thought "why am I not teaching this stuff!." So I do.

  • I really like this Derek.. very inspiring. Thanks

  • Delightful!

  • Brilliant. Again!

  • Derek, thanks so very much for this! I really needed that! Cheers...

  • Great insight Derek!

  • Thanks, Derek!

  • Wow! What a great message, love it!

  • Much appreciated, sir. Please feel free to do more of these.

  • Great message. Gorgeous animation. Yep, you just continue to amaze us!

  • Duh, lol!

  • amazing!

  • Man thats so Obvious...

  • Thanks so much Derek. So inspiring and so real!!

  • Excellent Derek!

  • Really, really well done. Absolutely fantastic!

  • Terrific. Narrated animations are a feast for the visual and auditory learners. My vote: keep 'em coming.

  • It happens to me all the time. And i feel encouraged to know that it's the same for others as well. Wonderful video, it made my day.

  • Oh my! I think this all the time

    thanks Derek :)

  • Hey, Derek. How could it be more energizing, engaging and enriching in one minute and 38 seconds? Can't think of a way. Which tells me you have captured the power of simplicity here in every way. And it inspires me to stop comparing and to keep sharing. You have a winner here. But something inside you already knows this, right? - Tony Brigmon

  • beautiful, brilliant, breathtaking!

love the animation. simple and sweet.

  • this is great. animation wins. go!

  • Hi Derek. Quang here. Yes, great animation, love it! Please make more.

  • Awesome Derek, eloquent and brief , keep it up :)
