Ralphie was that guy who reminded us all of the embarrassing shit we had almost blocked out of our minds completely. The scars were all but forgotten until seeing that ridiculous bunny suit (or whatever scene reminded you of your personal torture) and just being able invoke the feeling of such embarrassment, where you actually broke a sweat over something that happened a majority of your life's length ago. Pondering promises of gifts for act of self-humiliation sounds like Christmas to me.
