my favourite Doctor Who story of all time. People say its an awfull story, but what they are looking at is the props and the budget. Its the plotline that counts, and the plotline is one of the greatest around. Davros might speak funny, but to be honest he hadnt spoken for centuries, and the Daleks? They are in a war. they are bound to have their battle scars. Skaro? untouched for centuries. Ofcourse its going to be a run down mess.

They also filmed The Underwater Menace fro the Troughton era in that quarry

i brought this recently and I thought that it was fantastic. Tom Baker was on top form. David Gooderson was good as Davros and the Movellans were a interesting new species. An underated classic!

I think I know why. The quarry they filmed this in was the same quarry they filmed 'Games' in. In fact, they filmed it at the same time, I believe. The Blake's 7 director had to move over to the DW unit to complain about the noise they were making...

She didn't. Actress Mary Tamm fell pregnant and simply left the series.

She received a dangerous dose of radiation but seemingly survived it, next epiosde though she decided to go through a voluntary regeneration so maybe that old body didnøt have enough years left in it after all. She seemed to have quite good control of the regenration too, choosing form and a personality that went better with the doctor - I guess there are advantages to not waiting till the very last breath.

Maybe Gallifreyans get to choose once, but The Doctor lost that choice because of The War Games where The Timelords choce for him. Romana does so in this story, and The Master chooses in Utopia."If the Doctor can look young, then so can i. The Master, REBORN!".

Its typical of the Graham Williams Douglas Adams era. However, its fun and not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. The sets have a lot of atmosphere and I was rather surprised to have enjoyed it when I recieved the dvd.

Great trailer for a rather silly episode. Oddly, this exciting, dramatic trailer is pretty much how I remember the episode from my childhood, with the silly bits conveniently glossed over!

Shame Davros was so disappointing in this story and The Movellans look like 70s pop group Boney M!

He was more disappointing I believe in Stolen Earth/ Journeys End, sure he looked better, but you heard the Doctor the daleks treated Davros as a court jester, a pet! In the old series you feared Davros just as much as the Daleks.

The Doctor under-estimated Davros's authority when he said "You're the daleks' PET!". He believed Davros was on the same level of authority of all the normal daleks and that the Supreme Dalek was the one in total control of the New Dalek Empire. It is only when Davros ordered the Supreme One to detonate the Reality Bomb, that the Doctor realised how much authority Davros truly had. He was just as much the daleks' leader as the Supreme One. To quote Davros: "We have... an arrangement."

That may be true to an extent, but I still think Davros was a better character in the old series...he looks better now but his character has weakened a bit. That's my 2-cents anways lol

except he WASN'T always treated as supreme leader in the old series, if my memory serves, because in Resurrection of the Daleks, the Daleks were going to force Davros to do their bidding, and Davros only managed to re-program two Daleks who then followed his orders. So really, Stolen Earth/Journey's end aren't a total negation of classic Who. Besides, the daleks should really be more frightening than their creator; he's still more human (or Kaled) than they are.

Wouldn't it be great if they where re-showing old doctor who episodes in cinemas and this was the trailer for it... how cool would that be. I'm glad i've got the Davros DVD box set!

It's interesting to see how they can make a story which wasint really that good look dead exciting with these Coming Soon trailers . Ive got Destiny myself on DVD so i know own all five televised Davros storys , but if theres one or two special features i wish where added on the Destiny DVD it would have to be the Davros Connection's Documentary and the Davros Mission audio which you can only get from the Davros Collection boxset .
