let me also say that jerry plays with some of the most feeling i've ever seen.. i'm a guitar player myself and look to him for inspiration on a daily basis. Jerry didn't always "hit the note" but he always tried and always explored, and when things came together, they REALLY came together.
Same here... the dead came to play the boston garden in '94, I was 13 and couldn't get around to see them.... I've seen every other incarnation of the band w/o jerry but it just doesn't feel the same... man what I'd give to see Jerry play again. Oh well, RIP JERRY.
haha id rather feel this music than be the richest man in the world I love the dead unfortunatly never able to see them because of the age I wish i could of seen and been apart of that amazing scene and go to these amazing shows. Jerry and the Dead make some of my favorite music of all time that comes right from the heart.
it did'nt hurt that robert hunter was one of the greatest songwriters to ever live also. i was never crazy about hart or kreutzman though, cant seem to find a backbeat, or even know what a kickdrum is, but i guess that's what made the dead what they are. unique.... there will never be another. i guess if the drummers were slick and "in the pocket" it would have detracted from the bigger picture. even lesh. fuck the whole sound is organized chaos. that should'nt work but does...
jerry was and still is proof that all is right in the world. fragile, yet powerful. full of joy. his guitar playing gives me the pee shivers. nothing slick or contrived about the dead. jerry is a national treasure. i like all kinds of music, but the dead are my favorite because of thier integrity and the message and the fact they live moment to moment and each show is different. they never cared about being "polished" they shoot off the hip. if people don't get it, it's their loss i guess.
And he knew music- he always explored. Just like the fans, they weren't junkies, they expanded consciousness with their use. For better or for worse. Not everything was peachy but it came out more good than bad. Dude don't know good from bad. How else would you explain his distorted "facts"? After Jerry the fanbase dissipated and a select few were left. Now we are growing again. True testament my friends. Now THATs a fact.
Don't worry, dude's an atheist, while Jerry was a medium to the higher power. How would you expect him to understand? Actually Jerry drugged himself to numb the pain of having to support thousands of others, namely the GD crew who they would not be able to keep unless they kept the income flowing. And the fans who just kept growing. That's testament to it all right there. Their fan base increased throughout 30 years, EVERY year, for better or for worse. But mainly because he loved music.
The people who critisize Jerry on youtube are probably jealous of his free spirit, and his carefree attitude, and the fact that Garcia's one of the best guitar players ever. his guitar licks make me feel good and I know I'm not the only 1!
many people critcize jerry and the dead it is a sign of ignorance he was one of the best and he never put anyone down so that makes him stand 10ft tall no one can ever fill his shoes
Till Jerrys death the dead played with more frequency, more often out sold the Stones, McCartney, Madonna, Dylan And Elton John. So dont give me this Rex Reed, Homo, Music Snobbery About the deads music being substandard. Why dont you ask Al Gore-Big Dead Head, if he was wasted in the audience.
Many deadheads are not not only straight, but professional yuppie types, LAWYERS, Architects, Politicians and doctors. Should be Gary Null and Void of any Intelligent Thought.
First of all..if you were the REAL Gary Null, you would have a little more compassion than that, Hendrix, Joplin, Keith Moon.. greats of the business, The music drug culture had many casualties, but you dont hear these snobs of music condemning other musicians. Only the dead. Why?..You never paid much attention to the dead only to criticize and complain. They Sold out and outlasted nearly every sixties and seventies bands.
Gary - get off the bus. You are a drag. You don't get it. Somewhere in cyberspace, a gay ass boyband video is calling your name. Go check it out and leave the Jerry vids to those with zn expanded consciousness and good taste in music. We don't purposely travel to other types of vids and bash people's music, don't do it to ours. Goodby - forever.
I had almost forgotten about how great JGB was rockin' it during the fall of 1991. As a friend told me during the intermission of this show, "JGB never lets you down." How true. What a great nigh it was.
Typical comment from a fan of those hacks Opie and Anthony.
How long did it take you to think of that comment? Or wait since you are an O&A, did you follow in their footsteps and steal the idea from someone else?
Hmmm. I'd probably continue this argument if you actually stated something intelligent. But just for fun I'd almost love to know what you consider good music.
It cost alot too win~ and even more too lose~~~ Phat Man Rocks!!! Jerry Band always ended 1st set with Deal when I saw them. Loving it!!! Dont cha let that deal go down!
Looks like someone needs a hug,you just dont even know brother.I'm sorry you missed out on a real GOOD time,Jerry sang about "loser"s like you all the time.Oh well, have a nice jay!
u-do! need a hug!aw ,,,one thing i really loved about jerry and fam is how they can roll into a town and through music and example show the light/love to the most arogant -narrow minded and aggressive people such as yourself. seen it happen 1000 times. i can say this in good faith because i was you 25 years ago.>chew on that a while. ~jerry saves
Probably because he's literally dying in this video...Um, yeah. Why do these people post such obvious and idiotic writings? America is so full of fucking morons.
doesnt look like he is trying to rush through this 8.5 minute deal,HELLO! 91 was one of the more busy tour years and this is november i think 50 year old jerry looks pretty good on this shitty quality video. so what if jerrys got a little bed head,,,it really was a long year bill g had just passed a couple/few weeks prior to this show as well .
I prefer this later faster version of the song over the original slower version.

It's not a comment, it's a fact:
The whole crowd is drugged out.
This "music" is lame, played by drugged out dopes who can't really play their instruments.
Godawful . . lol
