  • that's a nice sounding tele!!!! even through the mudd of the recording camera...I have a Warmoth body/Jap'52 re-issue neck and Texas Special pick-ups that sounds pretty close...... there's mojo in some of those old guitars and that one you have there has a great country tone..very nice!

  • What thumb pick does he use? I'm looking for a decent one with a short-ish tip. Most I've come across in crappy Irish stores are big chunky dunlop ones with a tip far bigger than I'd have when using a pick.

  • @methodinsane I believe he uses a HERCO FLEX 52 BLUE NYLON THUMBPICK

  • Brent is the man. Saw him play in Nashville on new years eve 2007 from about 10 feet away & got his autograph. insanely great player.

  • WOW. That's all I can say.

  • Wow Brent & Redd played you're Tele!!!!! Thats a treasure piece now huh!!! Thanks for posting Richeray!!!!

  • I found my '55 at a flea market a couple of years ago, in the original case beneath several boxes of linens. Condition? Superb. Price? Well, you would cry for not finding it yourself.

  • @DoctorLawyerWhatever Go on, make me cry...

  • That 1952 must have cost a fortune. Do you work for an oil company?

  • Why can't they ever hook a decent mic up to the camcorder when there doing interviews like this! theres thousands of them... im guilty too. they need to put a little 1/8th mic input on every camera like they used too. you hook that up to a little mixer and you've got some decent sound. but, props cause its on youtube and thats better than nothing.

  • This video is too short.

  • Would anyone who wants to attempt to take a few licks from this vid like to help me tab it out, assuming there isnt already a tab of it. We could split it into little sections? Message me if youre down

  • What amps is he using? Thank you

  • @alvaritooooooooo I think it's an old Bassman head.

  • @Richeray I would say Bandmaster!

  • @Richeray Bandmaster

  • @alvaritooooooooo i think its the black face dual showman head he talks about in his video.

  • Oh Em Ef Gee Brent is out of control. Someone control him! Don't try. You can't.

  • I'm a blues guy but I like a bit of jazz.....and I like a bit of country. But when you get Benson's jazz, blend it in with the country chops of Gatton, and add blues feel like King or Vaughan, you get fricken Brent Mason.

    This guy is fucking unreal!

  • @skeetv123 That's a great way to put it.

  • Whew! Stunning.

  • LOL! Brent is the real deal. All these other greats everyone brags about are just....wannabees. PERIOD!

  • @jamesskb really quite a stupid statement.

  • Is that a '52 Reissue? it looks a LOT like a reissue I have that was made in 97 I think. Sounds like it too but hard to tell on youtube. Very cool either way. If that's a REAL '52 then you've done an excellent job preserving it from what I can see.

  • It's a real 1952 Telecaster that was restored/refinished about 4 years ago.

  • @Richeray You lucky dog!

  • You think So Philcox is the best.? Wait until you get to hear Lynn Sheffield!!! Just wait and then get back to me.

  • The best Session guy in NASHVILLE!!!!

    Stunning

  • Man, I don't know anybody being better but their are some young guys out there that are gonna be as good!!! Lynn Sheffield and Sol Philcox

  • sol philcox is the best

  • sweet

  • Man how great isn´t this . I can´t really understand that you have met all this great pickers. hahah If you are good to me you could have the opportunite to trade your 52 tele against my all mexican nashville tele and then when I have yours a call my homies Paisley and burton and then I a put up a vid with them in the style of "live from my living room" ! =)

What do you say rich ? hahahah do we have a deal ? :D

    cheeers !!!

  • Thanks for the very generous offer, but I'll have to pass. :^)

  • How in the heck can anyone ever be any better than this? This is the man! I do like the fact that he is a nice guy too, although I've yet to meet him, its just one of those vibes I get. By the way Brent, next time you pass through Effingham, Il. if you don't mind stopping in, we'll have a little front porch talkin and musical session, some good ole hillbilly jammin. I'll get ahold of a great chef I know and we'll make a day of it. IN MY DREAMS.LOL! Love this guy, and everything about him.

  • WOW SIMPLY FANTASTIC

  • damn, i don't know which sounds better, the guitar or the guitar player. i guess perfection meets perfection.

  • Brent is an awesome player and a hell of a guy too! My biggest guitar hero..haha!

  • The man is a master. Period.

  • Nice... I like those changes he's playing with around 0:32. They're kinda Oliver Nelson like...

  • What an honor to have him play your git!!!

  • indeed i would be freaked if brent mason played my guitar

  • are you using a little delay?

  • I don't know what effects he's using. Sorry.

  • When i grow up,i wanna play like you

  • That sounds sweeter than molasses with sugar on it,...dusted with nutra sweet and splenda

  • very cool sound.

  • Nice guitar man!

    ~Sõl

  • AWESOME!

    ~JE

  • Is that a Pro reverb he is playing? I love that twang. Nothing like an old blackface with a tele!

  • Comment removed

  • fender amps from a certain period of time are referred to as blackface. that's what MRwenkie meant

  • sup ppl!

    pew pew pew oZ

  • So can you play it too, or do you just own it!

  • LOL!!! Yes, I can play it, just not like my friends can play it.

If you search my clips, there is one of me demo'ing my Hullett Tweed Deluxe amp. That's me noodle-ling around.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • The guitar really reaches some really cool sounds here and there. Cool guitar and cool man :D

  • at :51, that short little bit has to kick some of the most ass ever!

  • stupendous player and gitt-ar boy!hee haw!

  • wow sounds great!(Brent and the guitar)

  • inspiring!!

  • are those the original pickups?

  • Yes, the pickups are original, although the bridge pickup was rewound by Owen Duffy at OCDuff pickups.

Owen did a great job on it and was very easy to deal with.

  • hi just wondering if that is the original wiring on the guitar?

  • Hi,

No, it has been rewired to the modern/standard wiring configuration.

  • wow !!! Brent mason is great, you lucky to having him playing your guitar, i wish paul franklin would play my steel !!!!
