that's a nice sounding tele!!!! even through the mudd of the recording camera...I have a Warmoth body/Jap'52 re-issue neck and Texas Special pick-ups that sounds pretty close...... there's mojo in some of those old guitars and that one you have there has a great country tone..very nice!
What thumb pick does he use? I'm looking for a decent one with a short-ish tip. Most I've come across in crappy Irish stores are big chunky dunlop ones with a tip far bigger than I'd have when using a pick.
I found my '55 at a flea market a couple of years ago, in the original case beneath several boxes of linens. Condition? Superb. Price? Well, you would cry for not finding it yourself.
Why can't they ever hook a decent mic up to the camcorder when there doing interviews like this! theres thousands of them... im guilty too. they need to put a little 1/8th mic input on every camera like they used too. you hook that up to a little mixer and you've got some decent sound. but, props cause its on youtube and thats better than nothing.
Would anyone who wants to attempt to take a few licks from this vid like to help me tab it out, assuming there isnt already a tab of it. We could split it into little sections? Message me if youre down
I'm a blues guy but I like a bit of jazz.....and I like a bit of country. But when you get Benson's jazz, blend it in with the country chops of Gatton, and add blues feel like King or Vaughan, you get fricken Brent Mason.
Is that a '52 Reissue? it looks a LOT like a reissue I have that was made in 97 I think. Sounds like it too but hard to tell on youtube. Very cool either way. If that's a REAL '52 then you've done an excellent job preserving it from what I can see.
Man how great isn´t this . I can´t really understand that you have met all this great pickers. hahah If you are good to me you could have the opportunite to trade your 52 tele against my all mexican nashville tele and then when I have yours a call my homies Paisley and burton and then I a put up a vid with them in the style of "live from my living room" ! =)
What do you say rich ? hahahah do we have a deal ? :D
How in the heck can anyone ever be any better than this? This is the man! I do like the fact that he is a nice guy too, although I've yet to meet him, its just one of those vibes I get. By the way Brent, next time you pass through Effingham, Il. if you don't mind stopping in, we'll have a little front porch talkin and musical session, some good ole hillbilly jammin. I'll get ahold of a great chef I know and we'll make a day of it. IN MY DREAMS.LOL! Love this guy, and everything about him.

are those the original pickups?

Yes, the pickups are original, although the bridge pickup was rewound by Owen Duffy at OCDuff pickups.
Owen did a great job on it and was very easy to deal with.
