  • @qki111 Aussie, here, 27y.o. I grew up with him. lol. That's why I think it's cool when people from other nationalities discover him, coz most of the world doesn't know what they are missing out on. :D

  • Best driving songs:

    Jimmy Barnes - driving wheels

    Golden earring - radar love

meat loaf - paradise by the dashboard light

  • Of Course, what most people forget is that he was born in Scotland.

  • The only singer to idolise bogan nobody's. Plenty of money in it tho...

  • @impalax327 nice, suppose you are Generation Y, lets idolise contest winners.........

  • SAR = Special Australian Regulations… but WTF, the main thing's the song!! Hey dutto75man, 'howya garn… awright?'

  • 1st:: I drove for over 3,000,000 miles, and this is the only truck-driver song I ever liked. 2nd: I loved cranking up Jimmy's Freight Train Heart, just before crossing the George Washington Bridge, to get me in the mood for driving in NYC.

And, oh yeah,, 3rd: David Lindly's opening to Driving Wheels is absolutely killer.

Sounds like he used Lava Lamps for out-put tubes in his amp. Finally...

"Freight Train Heart:" truthfully: One of the greatest un-sung albums of all time

  • Compare this song to the fuckin shit they have now. That faggot Guy sabastion singin whos that girl walk walk walk in the club. I mean how fuckin crap can you get. Go barnsy

  • top song

  • 3 Pedals, one gear stick and a steering wheel. No computers or gadgets, no automatics or trick aids in the old crash box. No air con or GPS, just man and machine. Awesome.

  • Some classic gear in this vid, old T-series Scania, Inter S-line, R-series mack... awesome :)

Anyone tell me what model KW the main truck is? Never seen one with such a short bonnet before...

  • @ScotchRB30DET aussie kenworth SAR mate

  • @landybob Yeah figured it was a SAR being a short-bonnet (our boss owns 2 new model T408SAR's), but know the exact model number?

  • @ScotchRB30DET

Australian built SAR, I think it stands for Short bonnet Australian Right hand drive or similar.

If you do a search you will find a few other vidz where the truck is the main feature and you get a better look.

    Cool old rigs

  • barnsie's management apparently asked my stepdad if they could film his truck on a dirt road for this video. apparent;y he told them to get fucked i just washed it lol

but thats how australia was back then...

shit pay, shit video's...but great songs...that today

would still hit the nerve & overwellm stadiums full of thousands & thousands of people.

  • The Ultimate Truckie Anthem...and it's true, without trucks deliveries all across the land would come to a grinding halt and stop, so whenever you truckies hear this song, honk your air horns nice and loud in a symphony salute.

  • This intro remind anyone else of Mark Knopfler's Local Hero? Not as in note-for-note but just in terms of the feel and tone? Love the song.

  • love the country u from, love every song u singin especially ur voice , and u very good father too, well done.

  • Should be the national anthem!

  • @Seattlecarnut-I have watched him since 1976-so, I think comparison is accurate...Hope you like his singing................

  • what model kenworth is the truck

  • @Yanaman SAR

  • @Yanaman

It is A kenworth SAR a true icone of a truck

  • I've heard of Jimmy Barnes, but I've never heard his music. Someone once told me that he is Australia's answer to Bruce Springsteen, am I right?

  • @Seattlecarnut ... LOL.. Yes, I would say that is an accurate comparision! xx

  • @melbgal Is he still singing or has he retired from singing?

  • @Seattlecarnut He's still singing, his gigs are always sold out, we need more live Jimmy.

  • @a320x Gday Mate! Keep up the good work.

  • I love Mossy's weeping guitar.

  • @a320x good onya mate!

  • srry jim turn it up

  • Great song - the Foxtel music channels must not have this music video as I have never seen before and it is never included in their great driving songs countdowns. I also love the trucks which reminds me a bit of the clip to Slim Dusty's Pub With No Beer. Great lyrics in this include: Rhythm of the highway as it rolls on bye - Like a shooting star across a desert sky. I saw Jimmy perform at Doncaster Shoppingtown in October 2006 and he did not perform this song - much to my disappointment.

  • I first heard of Jimmy Barnes around the mid-80s when rumors were flying that he was going to replace Brian Johnson in AC/DC. Wow! What a treat that would have been! Although I love Brian, his voice was shot by 1985 and Jimmy's lasted decades longer at high level. He would have been the perfect fit. Now we can only speculate on what might have been. What a great talent!

  • Jimmys songs bring back a lot of memories of good times. The eighties music was the best ever !!

  • @johndownunder , true true true....

  • Top music, Fucking good song to drink piss too

  • Jimmy your a bloody aussie legend

  • @vKiLLBoTv he is kike from the uk !

  • @Nazisympathiser Yes. Barnes is a closet Jew. Now he is "out" just like a Gay!

  • my theme song, im trying to be a truck driver

  • @choozed You should try getting into what's known as the hotshot freight industry. This is when a company can't wait 3 days for a part, which is sometimes as tiny as a 3 kilo box. I did it for 6 months, and I only have an HR licence. It's done with two up crews for most jobs, but it will allow you to experience the industry at entry level. Message me where you're from, and I can give you more suggestions as to where to go.

  • @Mechknight73 hey thanks for the info but i am doin hot shots i live in perth we go all ova oz ive been to QLD n do alot of up nth we go to mine sites, i was doin local but i didnt realy like it i luv the open rd.... its the rythym of the highway....
