  • @cubdukat Warren;s hat looks like a hard hat liner to me ,I had one in green cotton.

  • Is this Chris Hardwick's voice?

  • @pigsIop No, it's my voice. But I take that as a compliment because I respect and admire @Nerdist quite a bit!

  • Wat the hek I thought the same thing when was Warren made

  • Could someone please explain to me what the hell this is. I thought it was just a funny little puppet show on MTV, but apparently it goes deeper than that? Could someone please explain

  • @benjamin47able Warren The Ape & Greg The Bunny debuted in the late '90s on Junktape, a NYC public access show created by Dan Milano, Sean Baker & Spencer Chinoy. Puppets & humans sharing the same world. in '99 they started doing hilarious film parodies on IFC. In '02 they had a show on Fox co-starring Seth Green, Eugene Levy & Sarah Silverman. After it was cancelled they did more IFC film parodies. That's when this interview took place. All I can say is THANK MTV WARREN & GREG ARE BACK!

  • @benjamin47able greg the bunny started years ago and was contracted for 12 shows I think on FOX and then cancelled after 9 shows. There is a DVD, it is hilarious and worth buying.

  • I also recall a simpler time in California...Both Warren and the Wumpus had invested in an illegal smuggling operation, one that moved people underground from Baja to San Diego. Someone tipped off the border patrol and the Wumpus had to bite one guy's nose off just to get away. They had to hide out at the San Diego Convention Center and live off scraps from Joe's Crab Shack for three days until the heat died down. Greg and myself picked them up in his dusty old Yugo and silently drove home.

  • I fondly recall the time that we had the post-Oscar party at Warren's penthouse back in '93. Stockard Channing had been pretty bummed about losing the Academy Award to Holly Hunter and was mainlining heroin and snorting speed off Pia Zadora's cleavage. Pal Frendlies had to handcuff her to the hose bib outside after Greg washed the vomit off her dress with Windex. Warren had to drive out on the PCH to the Coronado Inn just to get her another fix to stop the voices, his treat. That ape is a saint.

  • I'll be sharing more Warren stories leading up to the premiere of his new show on June 14th and the release of Warren's autobiography (Which I ghost-wrote with him last year), "Going Ape-$hit: The Warren DeMontague Story."

  • And no Warren story would be complete without mentioning that it was he who convinced us to call the cops that windy March night in 1982 at the Chateau Marmont. Warren's credit card had been charged for bungalow number 3 and he didn't want to pay an extra night, so we had to have it all cleaned up by 10 a.m. The cops did their thing and we moved on. He was a trooper that night, that Mister Demontague. Myself, Robin Williams and Bob DeNiro would probably have left the body...

  • Of course, the most memorable Warren story HAS to be the time that he and Maggie Demontague stole that XJ-S Jaguar convertible from Robert Evans and crashed it into that Vaudeville Restoration Performance Group. Frederick Blah was doing coke with Wilt Chamberlain at the same party I believe. Ahhh memories of old Hollywood...

  • I remember one time when I saw Warren and asked for his autograph. He kicked me in the crotch and stole my wallet. My lady left with him too and I had to lie in that roadside ditch and cry myself back to consciousness. And yet...he's a true artist and deserves all of the awards and more. He was snubbed for the Oscar back in '84.

  • how the fuck did he get a show on mtv
