UNHOLY SHIT!! James Murphy is fucking amazing! I first heard him on Spiritual Healing and ever since he's been one of my guitar idols! This stuff is awesome! Too bad they didn't make more music.
I noticed Soul Erosion wasn't anywhere on YouTube. It's a damn good song. I have to use this (quality) replacement for my playlist. Album needs some representin'.

Funebrarum is a damn good throwback to the Old School style. I haven't listened to The Sleep Of Morbid Dreams yet, Beneath The Columns Of Abandoned Gods is just awesome. I'll check out Carnagoth.
It's sad that when this album first came out in 1993, no one gave it a chance because by then, death metal was in decline. And ticket sales were so poor that they never got to tour for the album from what I remember.
It's only been in the past few years that this album has been getting attention. I'm glad but it's also bitter sweet. They should have been bigger!
@PunksDeadEmoK1dsN3xt nah, it just became really over saturated with garbage from there on out. the identity of the song writing and structures are overly masturbated and un-dynamic. get out your sound replaced drums and sterile guitar tones.
The 2000's look good: Miasmal, Maim, Tribulation, Slugathor, Funebrarum, Puteraeon, Karnarium and so many more, it looks like a second comming of Crunchy Old School Death metal 'a la' Nihilist
I bought a metal compilation disc from a pawnshop when I was like 15, that was 8 years ago. All I can remember off of it was Disincarnate - The Stench of Paradise Burning and a God of Thunder cover by Death. Can ANYONE help me remember what disc that was?

@v12kid Isn't that the damn truth. I would have to say he is one of the originals that made death metal what it is.

@darthinfurnus Well 93 saw some amazing albums. Death Metal really died in 95. This album was mainly just a promo for James Murphy.

''Death metal really died in 95''. You mean it stopped being popular?

Death Metal + H.P. Lovecraft = EPIC WIN!

@melowar78 Not Lovecraft. Bryan Lumley. It's based on his Necroscope series.

One of the greatest death metal albums of all time 10/10. James Murphy is a true master with all command over his instrument.

@Soulfree2008 those lyrics are not particularly deep at all, excellent death metal though

this song is about the necroscope series of books and they truely honor the books with this song.
