  • Man, the 60s were so strange. hahaha

  • Hard to believe this was such a long time ago ! Amazing colors : )

  • lolz

  • wow - jack benny & bob hope too. what a classic. thanks for uploading.

  • voll spaken

  • I don't like Beach Boys as their songs actually have no substance... in that way they aren't much different than today's Lady Gaga's etc. Sure they can sing and play well but.... their songs have no substance at all... what does surfin' USA say, or this song? Nothing. You can take ton of 60s songs that are good and actually about something.

  • @lkrnpk If you dont like the Beach Boys, why the fuck have you watched and commented on a Beach Boys video??? I dont like Lady GaGa, hence, you not being able to find me watching or commenting on a Lady GaGa video, (If you hate a band, why fucking watch them on youtube????)

  • @lkrnpk God, are you serious? Music is supposed to appeal at a gut level, not to be over intellectualized. I suppose they could have lamented the hot social issues at the time In America like the black-white divide, the threat of nuclear annhilation and pollution. It might seem more smart and relevant and hip but really it's just dreary.

  • @lkrnpk See, the deal is, we don't give a shit what you like/don't like. If you don't like The beach boys, then GTFO troll.

  • @lkrnpk apologies for my drunk rant

  • @lkrnpk Have you ever listened to the album Pet Sounds? Or Smile? Or Sunflower? I mean sure they started out with just fun songs that didn't have much meaning to them but then again so did the Beatles and the Stones. Listen to the song Surf's Up (dont let the title fool you) and tell me their songs have no substance.

  • @lkrnpk you sound like me when I was about 13. I recommend starting with Pet Sounds... and then maybe explore some of the early 70's stuff like Sunflower and Surf's Up.

  • Hamburgers $.50

  • I want to build a time machine and get me a 60's girl from the sixties. :)

  • Nobody talks at 4:07 either. Creepy.

  • You can tell they were just singing.... Dennis is just acting like he is playing the drums. And the Guitars arnt pluged into any amps.

  • Only Mike Love would wear a black felt hat to the beach.

  • I want carl's gutair!!!!

  • the guy in orange looks like the guy in How i met your mother lol

  • @blackredknight24 which one??

  • The drummer really knows what he's doing 1:07

  • @brunete2505 He looks like a lil dummy

  • so Sexys

  • It must have just killed Mike Love's ego every time Brian's falsetto came in and it was the only time the girls would scream

  • Dude in the yellow and red looks like Ferris Bueller's best friend

  • @BiteMyShinyMetalBBQ that's Brian Wilson

  • I can't believe how high the quality of this video is!!!!!

  • oh dennis is cute

  • @monkeychunger Yes that's Dennis.

  • ‎"That guy on a white horse who does laundry" = The White Knight from Ajax Laundry Detergent "Stronger Than Dirt"

  • THE GIRL ON THE BACK MOVES SO AMAZINGLY SEXY, ANY BODY KNOWS HER NAME?

  • @wllsera92 Your grandmother.

  • STUNNING quality!

  • that was awesome

  • that was awesome

  • @monkeychunger Brian Wilson

  • @pdlsteeler1 Thanks. I presume that the drummer is Dennis Wilson?

  • Who is the guy at 1:41.. playing the bass?

  • Comment removed

  • is it just me or is the drummer totally not playing?

  • Dennis is hammered.

  • @SURFSTYLEY4 LOL let's for a crazy surfin grandma!

    i've been misunderstood.

  • @SURFSTYLEY4 - I'm in.. ;)

  • @SURFSTYLEY4 women weren't just one age in the 60's. there were little girls and grandmas too. he clearly wants to bring a young woman from those days to the present.

  • @SURFSTYLEY4 that would make her at oldest 9....69!! now im ok with it lol

  • @SURFSTYLEY4 its the interviewer....

  • Comment removed

  • @SURFSTYLEY4 not 60 in theier 50

  • @fujiwarataku Order one for me, please.

  • @fujiwarataku check at museums and benches in the park :)

  • Mike love is actually related to the wilson brothers!

  • Not a diss toward BW, but that high note on "could" is soooo sharp.

  • @BeachBoysGuy1

He's had problems with his hearing because of abuse by his dad, and still has it but its a very on/off thing, sometimes no problems sometimes it becomes very apparent.

  • @alexandertarangerkin Oh O know the whole wtory. even know Brian....but tht one note !!

  • I wanna join their club!

  • these guys are for ever... estos muchachos son para siempre

  • I just noticed something crazy, at 4:56 when the they say "17.50" Nobodies mouth is open it's just some invisible voice lol. Thumbs up if you can spot it.

  • @erikmdmusic Same at 4:10... What were they thinking? The home audience wouldn't notice?!? : ^)

  • @erikmdmusic and at 4:06 lol

  • @erikmdmusic i hadnt seen your comment, so ive been like 5 minutes clickin on 4:56 looking at all the beach boys faces to see which one is speaking. No one. xD

  • @erikmdmusic ya but u missed 4:06

  • @erikmdmusic no, mikes talking hes just slunched over a bit so you only see his top lip

  • @erikmdmusic

Actually I think it was Al who said it, and if you look closely you can just see his jaw move.

  • Wilson was like John Lennon: they were mental cripples who needed other people as crutches or they could not function in the real world. It's not my imagination: it's widely known.

  • when they sing "wish they all could be" and his voice gets higher, so many girls came

  • Just a great sound that fills me with memories from my childhood

  • 4:57 bad guys

  • Beach Music makes me wanna Get Stoned.......

  • Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters

  • Cuecards, anyone? This is the type of strained TV stuff that drove them to drugs... At least the checks cleared.

  • @rickr442 at least the checks cleared...lol :)

  • Brian looks sooo AWESOME in this footage. I always felt that in '65 thru '66...style wise he was the best/most stylish out of all the Beach Boys(hair, clothes,)...

  • Mike Love is really lucky to have such talented cousins.

  • Hamburgers 50 cents, I want 6 please!!.

  • Are thy actually plugged in?

  • @MRB1568 Nope. The instruments are dubbed, but the voices are performed live!

  • @PacificRunaway Interesting how they do that stuff?

  • @MRB1568 They probably went back to the studios where they originally recorded it, obtained the master tapes/tracks allowing them to remove just the vocals and harmonies from the song. Then somehow play the new track without the vocals, hook it up to a PA monitor (or whatever they had back then) and plug in the live microphones they're singing into, into speakers. They do a pretty amazing performance, as they're voices sound exactly like they do in the studio version. Besides Brian's sharp note.

  • @PacificRunaway "Somehow obtained?"... wow.. They wrote and preformed the songs... Brian probably had 4 or 8-track multi-track tape copies in his home studio.. this is called a mixing desk... lots of things you can do with it.... oh you mean, roll off the track volume for those vocals?... they sound exactly as they do in the studio because ITS THEM.

  • @nbq201 No need to sound so angry, my friend. And I never said "somehow obtained". I am aware of how a mixing desk and console work, and how easily it would be for them to quieten just the vocals. And I believe you've misunderstood what I meant about the studio version remark. I meant as in that its not the vocal tracks from the final mixed song, its their voices, singing live, hence the Brians sharp note on the first chorus. Cheers.

  • Everybody in the backround SMiLE! That's it, Smile until your face cracks!

  • tan polka dot girl.... MEEEow...

  • I dream all night of choking a man like that!

  • fucking gulligans island

  • @69elfenlied-You're a dumb ass!

  • THOSE EYE GLASSESS are IN NOW!

  • couple of them look like "jowl boys" actually...

  • @ozoshah-You are very superficial which is typical of your generation!

  • When is Obama going to start building statues of himself

  • im sorry guys not trying to offend anyone but i watched this video to dislike i hate the beachboys

  • 4:06 brian's so cool he can talk without moving his mouth.

  • @teknokrat1 haha, I think mike does that too at 4:56

  • @teknokrat1 it wasn't brian

  • @RankielGuitar yeah i don't know brian wilson's voice at all. (???) yes, it was brian. and it's mike later on.

  • did you notice that brian drops his bass on the ground like nothing

  • Thumbs up if you are sickand tired these damned Barack Obama ads popping up over your videos!...I'm looking up good videos because I want to forget about that motherfucker and the mess he keeps dragging this country into!

  • @PawtucketPatriot66 AMEN, Pawtucket!

  • Check out 4:05 and 4:44 when the camera is on the beach boys and answer a question. None of them are moving their lips! Just kinda funny how television worked back then

  • Ive never seen the whole thing - just the bits that were in the An American Band documentary I had a long time ago - are there any clips of them on tv in 66 or 67 - after Barbara Ann in late 65 - you don't see them again until 68 (except for Inside Pop and Unicef) - it seems like they would have done Sloop John B or Wouldn't It Be Nice on *some* show - or wait until 68 to play Good Vibrations - were they that disfunctional at that point (?)

  • WOAH BRIAN. You're so fricking handsome!!!! (Dennis too!)

  • I bet they all wish they had tan's,and no receding hairlines!

  • The girls were much better then..not skeletal

  • Comment removed

  • 2 minutes of music, 4 1/2 minutes of a crappy skit.

  • I thought Mike had a beer in his hand when they first showed him. That would have been cool. Screw the mic.

  • Brian Wilson has kicked his demons and is back with a great voice , bearing in mind he's 96% deaf in one ear , I know , even if no one else can see it , his mouth has always been tight on one side , due to his deafness , stop dissing the man , its people like this that contributed to his stage fright all those years ago , he took solace in a ' higher ' place , right or wrong , it happened , GET OVER IT and stop bitching ............. please

  • @sianewins True It's such a shame he ruined his voice with all the smoking though.

  • If the chick in the orange wig mircaulously looked the same today, i'd do her like it was 1969!

    Great body, great mover.

What the hell, I'd probably do her today and think of her this clip!

  • Great nostaligia, but I thought that there performance was a little flat-- not musically but a little flat emotionally, lacked their usual zing. i saw them live in Glasgow in the 60's it was brilliant, high, energy fun..

  • how come we hear a voice but none of the boys' mouths are moving at 4:06???

  • @64wing

that's Brian mouthing the words .... try saying "you mean you don't know this part of the ocean" through your teeth ...

What gets me is the way Brian puts his bass down, it's just frickin classic, the guy was oooober cool

  • @strangher11 for sure!

  • @64wing I was wondering the same thing. They must've edited it in afterwards

  • @64wing because they probably didnt have a real answer that they wanted to put on TV so they cut to a shot of them just standing there and someone added that voice after. It does it again at 4:54

  • Classic! 3 of my favorites: The Beach Boys, Jack Benny and Bob Hope all together on the same show!!! These were true stars ladies and gentlemen.

  • is this where Katy Perry got her song from?

  • @tonyjoseph1998 i doubt it... i dont see any resenmblence really at all

  • i've said it before, and i'll say it again..they should do a movie on Jack Benny, and the only actor i see playing him would be Kevin Spacey..not only does he look like him and is around the same age as Benny as here, but he would do the part justice..Beach Boys with Hope and Benny is freaking classic !

  • Regarding BW's voice change, smoking hashish and marijuana, and snorting cocaine and heroin, along with a 3-pack a day cigarette habit will damange the voice. Lucky for big Bri' he engaged in all 5 habits to a heroic level. Way to go Bri!

  • @peterp21 Drugs were the symptom. If you know about those, you must also know about the mental illness and the problems with his abusive father, the fact the Beach Boys sued Capitol Records in the middle of the sessions, halting production for weeks...

  • Let's be straight, Mike Love was one very small reason out of many reasons that Smile failed. Mike Love wasn't in control of anything. Brian was the leader of the group and ran the entire show. The problem was Brian started using drugs to the point that his was detrimental to his focus. The Smile sessions didn't just end becuae Mike hated a lyric. The man's vocals are all over the sessions. It ended once BW lost his nerve, started erratically canceling sessions and just got stoned instead

  • i would do dirty things to the girls in the poka dotted bikini

  • @jbombs99 thats my mom

  • @jbombs99 You're right about being dirty--that chick's probably 70 now. :-)

  • @jbombs99 Thanks for sharing....

  • @jbombs99 First of all u need a working time machine...

  • @jbombs99 I doubt she's looking that good these days.

  • @jbombs99 Think it twice she must be over 65...

  • @jbombs99 I'd rape them anally.

  • I thaught Brian had stopped appearing live with the group by this time, and bruce johnson was in the band?

  • @relimes wells heres there and live ! and thanks god

  • @relimes BW appeared on the TV appearances I think through '65. Not sure if he showed up at all in '66. Bruce was officially in the band but still not part of the "face" of the Beach Boys yet.

  • love it but it pisses me off when i can't share because it is private You tube shouldn't allow that...

  • Who says, "You mean you don't know this part of the ocean?" at 4:07?

  • @devindinnertime Beats me...I saw no lip movements

  • @devindinnertime Or bad lip-syncing

  • @devindinnertime also at 4:55, no one said $17.50!

  • Better than Katy Perry's....

  • @CLC693E wtf are you talking about????Neither their or her song has got anything to do with each other. what are ypu talking about?????

  • Even in a bad all orange outfit Dennis is looking completely cool and rebellious. Arms crossed head tilted as always he really was surf punk before there was punk. He also was an incredible artist in his own right and its too bad that drugs took him.

  • haha.. I love how they dub in Brian at 4:06, and again at 4:57 they dub Mike in. I guess they forgot their lines? Not sure exactly why they did that.

  • brian messes up here lol 0:52

  • Man, how cute is that girl to the right of Mike? :)

  • Dennis does a HORRIBLE job at miming playing the drumset, but it's still badass.

  • I love the Beach Boys and Bob Hope and Jack Benny, thanks a bunch for posting this!

  • Very nice memories. The girl in the orange polka dot bikini looks great! Rock solid even by today's standards.
