One of my grandfather's cousins served with 2/3 Motor Ambulance Convoy. He died on the Sandakan Death March in 1945. Thanks for publishing the interview with Bill Fitch.
thats interesting. two of my uncles were in WWII. one was in d-day and the other dropped bombs in europe and was on board the plane that bombed hiroshima.
I think it was the gordon and Sutherland unit My Grandad was in that unit in WW1 and My Father was in the ABDA fleet (HMS Exeter) and was a POW in Japan (Fukuoka camp 2b Nagasaki) Aussies are good fighters and freindly and down to earth. Salt of the earth! I think the British guys wopuld have fought for the ice cream though! lol
@WELLBRAN Yes they were all good fighters, it's kind of depressing when these men have sometimes reconciled and become good friends with those who half a century ago they were conditioned to hate and kill as young men.
