I went to boarding school at the age of 13 and let me tell you I was homesick for a week but I got over it. I do get homesick from time to time though and it can happen to anyone no matter how old.

both my daughters went away to college, while one called me every day crying, the other one was cool as can be, I'm sure she missed home but she never told me, they both got used to it and graduated from college :) It's not easy but you have to get out and do things, my other daughter is on her way to college next year and I'm ready for that phone call :)

I was never homesick when I was in boarding school when very young. Some people are less sensitive to a changed environment than others. Others are grounded and attached to their environment and suffer a sense of being uprooted. They must be the veggie people. Eat more meat and go where the buffaloes roam ! But don't eat caged birds (battery chicken). Their unhappiness might somehow pass to you in the flesh and and become morose. Eat happy chicken from a real organic farm instead.
