Amazing song, amazing live performance, amazing everything. Tom Petty should never of got Scott Thurston in the band, the way he looks down on Howie in almost every interview makes me feel sick, Howie was an amazing harmony vocalist for Tom and for me, in my opinion, adds a whole different league to the Heartbreakers, he was a memorable part of the band for me and won't be forgotten. Tragically though he died in 2003, rest in peace.

The difference between the original and Mayer's version is that Mayer free falls in a light and lilting fashion. Tom free falls screaming in passion. Both are good. But if I'm free falling, I'll probably be more the latter than the former. The original captures the essence of the song more.
