Well, I was there back in 1997, I think it was, sitting there till very late writing lyrics, at around 10 pm, the other people in the restaurant had gone, when SUDDENLY a HUGE cracking noise from the other side of the room, and a small drinking glass of some sort, when to millions of pieces, and there was nobody but me in there, and the waiter who was outside at the reception desk, and he came running in looking at me as he though I had broken something, but - no nobody touched that glass.
because carol vorderman is presenting it and the guys in the video telling the story in an unconvincing way, this story is not really that scary or gripping as the many other great videos that GhostWatching has posted
I have videos on my channel from the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast, to see videos from my paranormal investigations click on my username to the left of this comment.
Okay I have to ask. Why in the world did she have to do this investigation alone. This lower's the chance's of something actually being caught on film or by EVP.She had no other equipment with her outside of her hand held video camera. If something was there her chance's of capturing it was nil to none. I must say that this is disappointing to viewer's looking for evidence of ghost. But to the people getting married there it's quite encouraging..
But maybe that sometimes ghost dont like all that high tech stuff. You gotta admit that when you go there alone or in a small group and no items it feels more.... legit.
This place was built during the late Victorian Era and called as Ettington Hall. This was used as the exterior of Hill House in the 1963 version of the film, "The Haunting".
The 1958 film "The Haunting" was filmed there, apparently they had ghostly goings on while they were trying to create ghostly goings on... Loverly place spent my honeymoon there!!!
Interesting, but that building is very late Victorian, built about 1885-1890, so how can there be 17th century plague ghosts, there must have been earlier buildings on site
the first thing anyone wanting to make a credible film on the spirit world should say is, "tell Yvette Fielding and Carol Bloody Vorderman to go frigg off, cos from the moment they show their grinning mugs on the trailer of my vid, it's fucked!!!"
Ettington Park Hotel was originally called Ettington Hall. This was the place that the original 1963 movie "The Haunting" was shot. Find it kind of funny that some of the situations that happened here are some of the same elements in the movie.
@HoosierLine Yes indeed, The Haunting was shot at Ettington Park, just the exterior scenes though. I have the DVD with directors comments on it and Robert Wise said they filmed it in infared film to give it an eerire effect. Oh yeah, my wife and I stayed there on our honeymoon in 1990. Very nice place.
We hardly have any shows like this where I am in USA. you are lucky to be able to see all these wonderful things. In fact I had to get an English series on DVD from the library here to see some great shows from UK. This is very interesting about the suspected hauntings, there seems to be common themes I see, one being the room temp, another a certain 'feeling' response. Good one Ms L!
@12AMALOU Well, it's been a year since you posted your comment. I was wondering if you're married now and how did the wedding go? Any bad things happen?
They did some building work about two hundred years ago and found a live toad in a cavity within the wall. According to the story there was no way the toad could have entered the space. Research showed that the last building work was at least one hundred years previously. The toad lived for 30 or so days before dying. A stone toad was placed on the section of the wall where the toad was discovered and can still be seen today. They say this is where the expression "toad in the hole" originated.
Yes indeed! Hill House from the classic horror film. I have stayed there twice and sadly never expereinced anything! I did hope that something would hammer like two ton weight on the door before it turned into rubber, scaring the crap out of me, but no, nothing!! Maybe we stayed in the wrong part of the place! Loads of atmosphere though.
The classic film 'The Haunting' is the scariest film ever made. The rooms look small compared to the sets created for the film in the studio, the sets were larger and more ornate..kind of a letdown.Of course this place is haunted..it's 900 years old!.
This exterior of this gothic mansion was used in the b&w film 'The Haunting' (1963). The film starred Julie Harris and Clare Bloom. Check it out as it's an excellent film.
I worked there for about 3 months but never experienced anything out of the ordinary. The old night porter told me about some of things he'd seen though which were pretty freaky.

Or get the New Zeland Ghost Hunters down to take a look you always found some thing on their cameras.

I visited Ettington in 1978. It was completely empty back then and no ghosts. Just a beautiful home that had (at that time) been very neglected.
