This is pretty much the same process we used about 15 years ago in Photoshop to get the same effect before layer effects arrived. Making bevels at that time was equally time intensive but always seemed more rewarding than just clicking a button (although now I find layer styles makes life a lot easier). Let's hope Pixelmator 2.0 gets them!
Really Good Tutorial... Great practice, although it seems my version i've only just bought from the App store doesn't have the same options. Eg. right clicking in the layer box doesn't give me the rasterize layer option. I'm probably doing something wrong!
@XIMacManIX ok i found it! do the steps until the rasterising bit. instead go to edit> load selection that will do the dotty out line bit. do the command click like she says and delete the black layer as of the tutorial! that works
You are the most professional, well spoken and intelligent instructor I have seen on YouTube! Bravo and thank you very much for providing me with so many useful tutorials.
@applelife0800 There is another way of loading a selection of something. You can go to Edit>Load Selection. You need to make sure you are on the specific layer...
@applelife0800 This is a short-cut to loading a selection (instead of having to go to the menus). You must hold down "command", then click (with your mouse pointer) on the layer in which you want to load a selection of. Does this help you?
@nannyberries Yeah, you have to press them all at the same time!
Did you know that if you wanted to see a whole library of symbols, accents, etc., you can actually go to Edit>Special Characters. This works in every single program I think!
Dude this is great stuff! Thank you so much for these sweet tutorials
