ABYSSINIA was always independent, except for Eritrea (Massawa-Asmara(Agordat). Ras Menelik was a sovereign ruler with his own national ARMY, NO Militia and NO Italians. So ofcourse there was an Ethiopian Force in 1893.
In 1935-36 Mussolini conquered Abyssinia and created AOI until WWII and defeat against the British (Battle Keren)

No, those Europeans assisted the 100,000 Ethiopian soldiers. France and Russia supplied Ethiopia with modern (more advanced weapons than italy). The British assisted the Ethiopians by blocking the Italian routes. And russia send military advisors that were present at the battle.
The Zulu defeated the British all on their own. All African weapons and equal numbers.

@grottoification1 Artamonov was one of Russians advisors in 1997, but during the battle could to be the Russian military mission of Leontiev (or count Abay). I know the last name of their doctor - Kann. Three Russians - Leontiev, Kann and orderly was present during prayer of Menelik before the battle. But the Russian missions 1893-1895 were headed by Мashkov. Hospital arrived additionally in 1896, and legation arrived additionally in 1897. Leontiev expected meeting Bulatovich in 1896 near Addis.

@grottoification1 You may keep trying to belittle the significance of the war. Ethiopia had no formal army at the time. Even the king had to and his army had to walk all the way from shoa about a minimum of 800 km south of Adwa to get to the battle field. The army is not salaried. Its basically a militia. If Italy thought it can readily invade ethiopia, with the amount of little capacity you are talking about, it is not for Ethiopia to worry about but crush the invading army.

you did error using the cinema-chronicle of 30th, you did error mentioning about 80000 with firearms and unknown number of artillery and machinne from Efhiopia side (Menelik's army could to had 42 artillery from Russia and had not any machine guns). but Quality and amount firearms it was unsatisfactory (less than 50% and medieval muskets were used even). Do you know the historical sources of the Russian ally of Menelik II (flashback of Russian Menelik's officers or diplomatic correspondence)?
