Go ahead preaching, Mr. RA Smith, and don't stop. Glorify the Savior Jesus, and reveal his saving power. A man knotted up in sin ... comes to the church for help ... what do we give him ... a prescription called 'repentance from sin' ?? GO AHEAD, BROTHER !! Our Savior saves us from sin. HE DOES NOT DEMAND FROM US TO SAVE OURSELVES! SINNERS & SAINTS, PLEASE GIVE THIS MESSAGE A HEARING! And Mr. RA Smith, just continue doing the good work. God bless.
"The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance."
If they do not reach repentance what happens? THEY PERISH!
"When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.' "
@Bill244888 Good job posting scriptures that have the word repent in it. You clearly don't understand what repent means. Repent doesn't automatically refer to sins. Otherwise, God would be sinful, and that's a blasphemous thought of God. But clearly this preacher has shown you that God has repented many times, and it doesn't refer to Him committing sin. So the scriptures you shared doesn't automatically mean repenting from sins. It would need to say it for it to mean it.
And he answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”
"Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”
Jesus' words, not mine . . .
Repent from what? SIN
God did not need to repent from sin. He repented (turned away from) from pouring His wrath on mankind.
"Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
U better preach Mr. RA Smith!! Repent does not mean 2 turn from sin. 2 define repentance in this way is heresy just like u said. Repent in the NT is a Greek word- metanoia (n) metanoeo (v)- and it means 2 change your mind. That's it nothing more. 2 say u have 2 turn from your sins 2 be saved is a work and u can't be saved like that. It means 2 change your mind from any form of religion or anything that u would do 4 salvation 2 trusting in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus ALONE.
A complete absence of Christians in USA would level the nation to the ground without delay! Be thankful, unbelievers! Bearing in mind the atrocities that USA has committed in foreign lands, aren't you surprised USA still exists? The Israelis use USA as their base because God spares it! Leeches!
"And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes."
"And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness."
CONTEXT! Paul speaking to Ephesian Church. ALREADY believers in Christ. THE CONTEXT DOES NOT CONCERN SALVATION. Paul was teaching them by his own life; an object lesson how all believers, both Jew and Greek need repentance to God for The Holy Spirit’s work of Sanctification by faith in Christ.
2 Corinthians 7:8,9
CONTEXT! NOT about Salvation. His letter upset them, not sorry for it caused them to repent and get right with God. Sanctification process NOT Justification.
The problem is the definition we each give to the word repent/ance. God repented or said he will not repent over 30 times in the Old Testament (KJV) so be careful if you say repent means to turn from sin as you make God a sinner.
The 1st time he reads the leaflet he says, "turn away from a life of sin AND turn to God" The 2nd time, when he's going nuts, he leaves out "turn to God". He's leaving stuff out on purpose. Why I'm not sure? But don't listen to him. Pray for him but don't listen to him without reading the bible for yourself.
The last man's life settles into the grave. Our world is now left in ruins. Extinction exists across the Earth. Eulogy imprinted on their hearts. Humanity now forgotten in the void. Do you know the cause of the universe's failure? The cowardly white light of god is to blame. The church weakness and suffocates the will. Man-made plague to poison the race. Fools live to be led by fools. Holy arrogance builds on their mountain ignorance. This world of misery and you are to blame.
This idiot is so obsessed with jack Hyles that he is attempting to part his hair like hyles and the funny thing is, Jack Hyles was bald and did a fake comb over. This is likewise a foolish sermon to justify sin.
This idiot is so obsessed with jack Hyles that he is attempting to part his hair like hyles and the funny thing is, Jack Hyles was bald and did a fake comb over. This is likewise a foolish sermon to justify sin.
Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
Salvation without repentance is going to send souls straight to hell, and that my (Brother) is a fact.
Jesus said,.."for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."[Matthew 9:13] Jesus said,..." likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth"...[Luke 15:7] ...not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.[ II Peter 3:9] KJV
@NewVinland, I know that repentance is a change of mind, it is also accompanied with a godly sorrow for having sinned against God (II Corinthians 7:10). All I did was list scripture to show that repentance is a part of the gospel of Jesus Christ, not my opinion. The word of God should be rightly divided and nothing omitted.
@wal2c4 Amen! Those who water down repentance and claim it's only a "change of mind" that doesn't include a change of DEEDS are deceiving themselves. Be ye DOERS of the Word, NOT hearers only, DECEIVING YOUR OWN SELVES. James 1:22; Luke 6:46; Matt 7:21
Jesus said, "repent ye and believe the gospel". [Mark 1:15] Jesus said, "repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name"...[Luke 24:47] ...but now [God] commandeth all men everywhere to repent. [Acts 17:30] ...that they should repent and turn to God...[Acts 26:20] ...not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance [Romans 2:4] For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation...[ II Corinthians 7:10] KJV
Good post. When the speaker talked about the prodigal son it was quite humorous. It is astounding that so many people teach that one must repent in order to receive the gift of eternal life. If one claims that anything other that belief is necessary (before or afterwards) to receive the gift of eternal life, it contradicts scripture and is therefore false. One is saved through faith by the grace of God, not of works. Ephesians 2:8-9 It is not grace if there are works involved. Romans 11:6
@hydronetix Grace is given to the worst of sinners, not because of anything one has done... grace TEACHES all men to repent and live holy, godly lives. But most choose to disobey grace while claiming to be saved by it! What darkness! What self deception! Only those who DO the will of the Father abide forever! 1John 2:17! Jesus said those who have DONE GOOD rise to life; those who did EVIL rise to be condemned! John 5:28,29. We'll all be judged according to our WORKS 2Cor 5:10; Rev 2:23
I am sorry God did not repent for GOD does not sin. It don't say that GOD repented in Psams 120. Repentance is to be sorry for your sin. 1 john says if you sin you are of the devil. If you are of the devil you are not of GOD. If you sin in the spirit, the spirit departs for the spirit does not dwell in an unclean temple. You are only Children of God when you do not sin. 1John3:10 whoever does not practice ritiousness is not of God. You cannot enter the Kingdom unless you are of GOD. SeeK Truth.
"I am sorry God did not repent for GOD does not sin."
This sounds a lot like Zane Hodges saying that repentance is not required for salvation because he believes repentance is to turn from sin. Not only does he define repentance incorrectly, he leaves it out of the doctrine of salvation. People cannot believe except they repent. Repentance is a change of mind to trust the Lord for salvation, that's all it is. You can't be saved if you don't do that.
@SeekTruthinLight The Bible does say that God repented. Do you want the scriptures? Most of the scriptures in the Bible about repentance are about God. Repentance is a change of mind. That's what that is. It isn't about turning away from sin.
Yes, a Praise seeker bragging. How can being baptised by a devil save anyone. He says all you have to do is believe on the name of Jesus. He mocks those who preach repentance. This is a heretic and To those in His church. pray to GOD, The Father, creator of Heaven and Earth for Him to help you see the Truth, that the Vail be lifted so you can see all that is hidden. Praise be unto The Father for ever Amen. Continue to seek truth in the WORD, and read of his witnesses Mathew & John for Truth.
Read Jonah 3:4-10. God warned Ninevah by Jonah that in 40 days He would destroy it. They feared God and REPENTED. v10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
So why does it trouble this wolf that a tract warns one must turn away from a life of sin and turn to God? How is that "rank heresy"?
This SERPENT is the one preaching an abominable heresy! Let him be cursed! Gal 1:8
@LivingFaith2 "And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes."; "And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness."; "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." Faith in Jesus equals righteousness. This is why USA will not be destroyed, no matter what the media and the wise of this world spins.
Jesus Christ said "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." Luke 13:3
Jesus spoke about repentance here: "The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it:because they repented at the preaching of Jonah." Matt. 12:41
Look up Jonah 3. You will see what repentance is. The Ninevites believed God, humbled themselves, and turned from their evil ways. This is what Jesus called "repentance." God bless you.
@jerusalemabove It also says in Jonah 3 that God saw their WORKS that they turned from their wicked ways. That proves that turning from sin is WORKS. The scriptures say that we aren't saved by works, but by faith.
@NewVinland James says faith without WORKS is DEAD. Only a VAIN MAN thinks his faith need not have any WORKS. We're saved only by a LIVING faith. Dead faith won't save anyone. Another word for a dead faith is "hypocrisy".
@LivingFaith2 We are justified by men with works. They provide a testimony to them. However, they are not needed for salvation. It is not of works lest any man should boast! I have strict moral standards for myself that have nothing to do with my salvation. Do you watch cable television? Do you believe in mixed swimming? Do you drink alcohol?
we are right with god by the blood of jesus, no true born again believer can backslide . the word backslide is never found in the new testament backsliding is a term they use to scare people to give a tithe so they can eat more and gain weight because they fear work.
organized religion always tries to put you under guilt when jesus said it is finished
@ncbookz Bob George claims the same thing: "backsliding backslidden..is not in the NT...that's just something WE'VE pulled off", he tells a young man who called in confessing he's been in fornication with girlfriend. Rather than tell him MUST REPENT for salvation's sake, his council is: "So is committing fornication permissible? Yes. Is it profitable? No, it isnt." (People To People radio broadcast, 11-16-93) What a license to sin LIE Bob George gives this kid! Jude 1:4!
the father of the prodigal son also said his son was dead and lost but now alive and found. it may very well be a story of a person choosing to forfeit their salvation but God allowing them to come back w/ open arms.
@filoIII yes, I agree, the prodigal son HAD forfeited his salvation, but he turned and repented when he "came to his senses"! Anyone who turns away from Jesus, thinking "Oh, well, I CAN'T lose my salvation anyway" has gone MAD. They MUST Repent or PERISH!
Jackass - 1 a male donkey; 2 a fool; a stupid person (Webster's Dictionary).
Not quite profanity. However, Paul said: "As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." (Galatians1-6-9)
Accursed: ἀνάθεμα ANATHEMA a man accursed, devoted to direst of woes, devoted to destruction.
Proverbs 19-27 Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge. FALSE-TEACHER!
@2Timothy4vs5 Telling people they don't need to repent for salvation's sake is "PROFANE AND VAIN BABBELINGS " Don't strain at a gnat while swallowing a camel.
@Kloudes He that walketh with wise men shall be wise but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. Smith speaks things he ought not; contrary to Jesus and to all the apostle's doctrine. It is the wide way to destruction.
the christians who really believes try to be away from sin cuz the holy Espirit convience him from sin and repentences have two meanings .
but those who preach this gospel why dont just leave the life of sin anyways you are save always save is not that what everyone wants? why bible say wide and braod is the way to distroction and narrow is the way to leads to life. think man
When you stop trusting in yourself to please God in your flesh adding "turning from sins" as a requirement and co-redeemer with Jesus Christ for salvation you prevent any REPENTANCE from taking place. You repent when you TRUST Jesus Christ ALONE, and give up the notion that "turning from your sins" is required. Sinful creatures can't turn from sins because they have broken the LAW and are on death row ready for execution. The wrath of God abideth on the lost. No empty promises of reformation.
Oh so according to your logic, you must burn your records, cut your hair (men) throw out all your pants (women), drain out all your alcohol, tobacco, drugs, pornography, and live in some compound BEFORE you ask Christ to save you?
Romans 10:1-4 Paul clearly said Israel was not saved because they were "going about to establish their OWN righteousness" and had not "submitted themselves unto the righteousness of GOD."
This certainly proves God does not accept any *personal righteousness* in the plan of salvation! Jesus is the ONLY SAVIOUR.
ALSO--Jonah 3:10 SAYS "turning from wicked ways" is WORKS. CHECK IT OUT. "And God saw their WORKS, that they *turned from their wicked ways*. " It was GOD who repented! STUDY.
Really good. Sarcasm really has its place. WHY do people hate God's Infinite Work so much, they try to add repentance? THERE IS NO OTHER VERB: believe and you are saved, period. Christ would know if He needed to add some other verb to John 3:16, right? END OF STORY, BEGINNING OF PERMANENT SALVATION.
@brainouty 1Ti 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
The "doctrine" here Paul refers to is the WHOLE council of God, not one verse out of context. If salvation was necessarily "permanent", why don't we have scripture for that, and why do we have HUNDREDS OF VERSES that show people can and DO lose salvation?
1Co 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
@LivingFaith2 Since you cannot read Bible and ASSume that every warning verse is about losing salvation, further reply to you is fruitless. Since you are carnal and puffed up, you cannot read Bible and ASSume wrongly. In fact, what's happening to you is that you are LOSING SPIRITUAL MATURATION, so will have nothing but yourself saved at the end, 1Cor3.
Did you get that? It's a PROOF passage among hundreds of others, that you lose something, alright -- the REWARDS. But not, salvation.
@brainouty I see just how "mature" you are by your use of caps highlighting "ASS" when typing "ASSume". So you have little influence on one who knows scripture while you manifest yourself with what you accuse me of.
It is good to becareful not tell people "you have to stop sinning to be saved" but repentance does not do this rather it is a turning from sin to Christ. This turning is expressed in a change of mind resulting in a change of direction. If I change my mind about something than I will not desire it or want it. I will begin to hate the sin I once loved and love the Christ I was l hated. If I have truly have changed my mind about Christ than I will change my relationship sin that put him there.
You are a blooming IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!! STRAIGHT FROM THE IDIOT ACADEMY. So what exactly is repentance? Clint Caviness is more right with God than you will ever be. Until you have met the man you need to keep your mouth shut! And do us all us Baptists' a HUGE FAVOR and keep your beliefs to yourself and to your church and STOP posting this ridiculous video!!! You are making Baptists look bad. You'd really be doing yourself a favor by doing so, because we aren't the only ones who think your an IDIOT!
Jesus told them to "repent" . BUT HE NEVER SAID TO 'repent from your sins'. Repent means to "change the mind" . You have fallen for the same false definition given in modern dictionaries. The Jews thought they WERE saved. They were trusting their *law keeping* and Abrahamic heritage as their salvation as the Jewish Pharisees and Sudducees had been instructing them. Jesus told them they were SINNERS and need forgiveness, "repent". This was the same message Paul brought them (Romans 10:1-4)
"I wil have MERCY AND NOT SACRIFICE" are awesome. Mercy is what God gives ungodly, lost, without strength, spiritually dead, sinners when they come to HIM for salvation. The righteous are those who "think" they are righteous by their WORKS. READ THE CONTEXT. You failed to quote the verse before it, which explains vs.13--Well people DON'T come to be healed by a DOCTOR-(reject Christ), sick people COME to get healed by the doctor (JESUS). Sinners repent when they come to Jesus to be saved.
Yes, YOU DID. Let's stop playing games---You very well know the context of my post. Here it is folks: the contextual disastrous taking a "portion" of my post and pretending to agree with me. IF YOU CAN"T BEAT'EM JOIN EM! Nice tactic but let's face it you are out of your league. GOD's Word wins again. "The Word of God is Quick and powerful and sharper than any twoedged sword..." Heb.4:12
Jesus is the Word of GOD become Flesh, only begotten of the Father, born of the Virgin..lived a sinless life...He was killed on the cross and rose from the dead in three days as a replacement for the punishment we deserve.
God's Grace saves us. we can not save ourselves by any good works.
we must put our faith in Him ,repent , be baptized and live a righteous life to be saved.
works do not save us,if we are saved we will do good works or our salvation is in vain.
Their Bible only has about ten verses in it. Don't try and confuse them with the rest of God's word.
The KJV Onlyist cult thrives on their sheep not understanding what the words actually mean in modern english. that way they can manipulate the Word of God to come up with these bizarre heresies.
The False Gospel of Cheap Grace is an antinomian heresy that mocks the Grace of God, bringing shame to His Holy name. It scoffs at the awesome majesty of God. It turns His righteousness into lawlessness, makes cherry koolaid of His blood and has replaced the strong meat of God's Teaching with cotton candy...Woe to the teachers of this false Gospel!...God will not be mocked...it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of an angry God!
What an awful thing to say! IT WASN'T CHEAP FOR JESUS!!! I cannot believe a person who claims to be saved WOULD EVER SAY SUCH A THING ABOUT GOD'S SUFFERING FOR THE SINS OF THE WORLD. Talk about scoffing--you think the "filthy rags" of YOUR own righteousness are a co-redeemer with BLOODY CROSS, SUFFERING AND DEATH OF GOD'S SON? YES, WOE UNTO YOU! "turn from your sins" means "KEEPING THE LAW". "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith, WITHOUT THE DEEDS OF THE LAW." Rom 3:28
Here we GO!! EVERY SCRIPTURE YOU GAVE IS NOT ABOUT *GETTING SAVED* Except Mat 4:17
Eph 2:10 "..created IN Christ Jesus UNTO good works."
You can't do the good works UNTIL you are "created IN Christ Jesus" first!
(What happened to Eph 2:9? blows your case right?
Romans 6 The only people "DEAD TO SIN" are those who are SAVED. Those UNSAVED are Eph 2:1 "dead IN trespasses and sins." WE ARE NOT UNDER THE LAW! Again, Romans 6 is to those already saved! This is sanctification. STUDY!
If you would care to read the context of James 2 this is is specifically explaining *being saved* IN THE EYES OF MAN. NOT GOD! Man cannot see your faith--therefore you must have works to "show" others (man) you are saved. GOD ALREADY *KNOWS* IF YOU ARE SAVED. Romans 4:2 Romans4:5. WE don't need to show HIM anything! Proof: James 2:18--"shew me" and "I will will shew thee". This obviously man to man demonstration of faith. Read Romans 4:1 works not accepted before GOD for Justification.
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 2:38-- What were these religious Jews at Pentecost trusting in to save them? THEIR WORKS! Peter told them they ignorantly killed (murdered) with wicked hands their own Messiah! They thought Jesus was an imposter, a heretic. He told them to "Repent"--CHANGE THEIR MINDS and believe and trust HE IS THE SAVIOR. Again, you are mistakenly defining repent to mean "turn from your sins". These were the most holy men in the Middle East gathering in obedience at the holy feast of Pentecost.
Let us look stedfastly to the blood of Christ, and see how precious that blood is to God, which, having been shed for our salvation, has set the grace of repentance before the whole world. Let us turn to every age that has passed, and learn that, from generation to generation, the Lord has granted a place of repentance to all such as would be converted unto Him.
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
Thus Saith The LORD.
Ignoring what our Fathers have taught is foolishness and leads to theological anarchy. and then you get exactly what these people are preaching, a false gospel divorced from 2000 years of teaching.
Acts 3:19--I will keep repeating this--READ THE CONTEXT! Same message as at Pentecost to Jews.--You killed Jesus The Prince of Life--He is alive-He is the Messiah- Change your minds (repent) and believe on HIM. Repent means TO CHANGE YOUR MIND!!!!
SALVATION IS NOT *SERVING* GOD. IT IS A RESCUE! God rescues your filthy dirty soul from a deserved HELL by Christ propitiation's for sins.
Hey folks, did you notice that--he used the words "change their minds". But don't be fooled--he still believes you must turn from your sins to be saved! He just changed the Bible definition right here in front of us! Repent means "to serve God" now!
Repent is referring to those who thought the Tower that fell on some poor unfortunates was a judgment for their excessive sinfulness. Jesus corrected them and said unless you know your own sinfulness and need you will also perish. The Context hints Jesus was speaking about the coming destruction of Jerusalem a Temple. This was physical temporal Judgment not HELL. READ THE PARABLE.
you are over contextualizing the story...it was not a parable, they were discussing a real event.
before 20th century usa the idea of non repentance was never an accepted doctrine...
Paul dealt with it already..
Romans 6 1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Romans 6 is written to christians not unsaved people. Only Christians are dead TO sin--unsaved people are dead IN TRESSPASES AND SINS. Hellooo--do you see that? Eph. 2:1 Hellooo....
No my friend--Did you read the parable Jesus gave about the fig tree that bore no fruit? Read it. The fig tree is Israel. You are again not using the proper Greek definition for repent. "change the mind". To likewise perish means they would also die physical deaths by calamities. 70 A.D. Jerusalem was destroyed. The parable is a direct link to Jesus words. Think a little fella!
no one has said unsaved people were dead to sin. you can only be dead to sin through sharing Jesus's burial a resurrection...
no one was speaking of the fig tree we were speaking of the "Tower that fell ..."
when you throw out 2000 years of church history and tradition you are in danger of becoming a theological anarchist. without context and tradition the Bible can be easily misinterpreted to fit one's own fleshly desires. this vid is an example..
WOW! "I" WAS SPEAKING ABOUT THE PARABLE OF THE FIG TREE *ALSO*. Is that alright with you???? OR were you talking to someone else??? Am I allowed to talk about the FIG TREE???or have you made rules for me you don't have to follow?? Read the parable of the fig tree--it has everytihng to do with the conversation Jesus had about the "tower that fell" Sheesh!! Get a grip. God has told us not to followed the "traditions of men" and "rudiments of the world" (history) FOLLOW JESUS THE WORD. Col 2:8
"Repentance is the non-negotiable, foundational constant of the life in Christ. However much Gods saints differ from one another in style, tone, and emphasis, repentance is a grace and discipline - a principle - shared by them all."
Fr. Patrick Henry Reardon is pastor of All Saints Antiochian Orthodox Church
No right thinking preacher in the 2000 year history of the church has ever preached that we can be saved without repentance. it is heresy to think we can be saved without repenting.
No right honst preacher who rightly divides God's Word believes "repentance" when used about Salvation means "TURN FROM YOUR SINS". When you believe on Jesus Christ you "change your mind" and confess that you are lost and can't save yourself! This is what you repent FROM--Your WORKS! Romans 3:19-28 That is salvation-repentance. Yes you must repent (change your mind) and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ instead. The whole problem revolves around using "repent" to mean "turn form sins". STUDY
can you show me any church teachings from before 20th century america that can back this up?
not only is the Bible a book of repentance but so is the whole of Church history. Please , for the sake of your soul and the souls of those you influence, read your Bible and Church history.
May God lead us all into His truth through the guidence of the Holy Spirit in Jesus name.
Yes, the Church of the Ephesians and the Galatians. Both Churches believe that "works" or turning from sins will not save or help save a person's soul. Better watch out-- church history, like American history has been altered by satan's so-called modern historians. TRUST THE WORD!
Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
You must stop adding "turn from sins" to repentance. Analyze: Sin is the transgression of the LAW by definition--1Joh 3:4. If you require sinners to turn from their sins they must turn from TRANSGRESSING THE LAW.! To do this you must START KEEPING THE LAW.! So Jesus Christ's sacrifice and propitiation for sins is NOT ENOUGH to save anyone in your plan of salvation. According this notion YOU MUST stop sinning and START KEEPING THE LAW.
Titus 3:9-11 9But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. 10A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; 11Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
13"But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.' 14"I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
Rev. chapter 3 are letters to Christians who are ALREADY SAVED. Yes, they are told to repent (change their minds) when they backslide. But this repentance is not about their SALVATION; it is about SANCTIFICATION after they are saved. Christians still have the "old nature". That is the struggle James talk about. You are wrong however that Jesus was talking about SALVATION repentance to SAVED PEOPLE in the Churches. REPENT is a "TRANSITIONAL WORD" . You can repent and do evil!!!
Believing on the Lord Jesus Christ is the very ACT of repenting. All unbelievers are hoping their WORKS will save them. They do not see their NEED and don't want Jesus Christ. However, when an unbeliever sees his NEED of Christ he stops trusting his WORKS and puts his trust and faith in Jesus Christ to save him. THIS IS THE "CHANGE OF MIND" I stop trusting self/works and "change my mind" and trust Jesus to save me. That is salvation repentance WITHOUT WORKS OF THE LAW.
You gave testimony and keep saying if DON'T have good works you will not be saved! You have no assurance fo your own salvation when you believe this. It also violates GRACE WITHOUT WORKS. I have already proved James 2 is about Justification in the EYES OF MAN; NOT GOD. And you keep quoting from Eph 2:10 but verse 9 MUST be read with it. You are not being honest sir. It is not of works. You always aviod the scriptures that say this and focus on false modern definition of "repent" . BE HONEST
Repentance means to change one's mind..when you come to God it means to change your mind about what / who you will serve sin or God.
Romans 12 1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
James 2:19 the "devils" SHOW more evidence of believing in God than you do! THEY TREMBLE! Again, James is not talking about doing works in order to get saved, he is simply explaining GOOD WORKS are "profitable" and PROVE we are saved in the EYES OF MAN. Faith alone will not "justify" a man before other men. DO works and man will see it and benefit from it! The chapter masterfully continues on with this same theme--Works must accompany Faith to be justified IN THE EYES OF MAN. STUDY!!
Well, you heard it here first, folks...this man actually stands up and says you don't have to turn away from your sin and turn to God in order to be saved. Incredible. Pastor Smith, when God "repented" of the the judgment he was pouring out on his people, that was NOT repenting of SIN---there's a difference. THIS is the result of denying the baptism of the Holy Ghost as it is preached in Acts chapter 2. "Having a form of godliness, but denying the POWER thereof....."
Where in the Bible does it have the phrase "repent of your sins to be saved"? Where does it say "repent from your sins to be saved"? It doesn't say that anywhere. The whole "repent of your sins" was a manmade phrase to turn the grace of God into lasciviousness. Let me ask you, have you ever turned from ALL your sins? If you've sinned in your Christian walk with Christ, then you only turned from part of them. It is WORKS salvation when you say you have to stop sinning in order to be saved.
Mark 1:14-15 14Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
What a bunch of Hippocrates bigots I thank my god I don`t have to set and listen to this bunch of bigotry liars if this is what you call a Christian, you all still have time run to the nearest real church and you still have a chance to be saved, not this bunch of hater god, I don`t like their god every much at all,
I do, however, disagree with a person that labels everyone that uses the phrase, "turn from sin" as a heretic. Genuine repentance brings about that forsaking of sins and/or turning from it. It is that repentance that comes with a new life found in the Lord Jesus Christ and that life consists of growing... not getting saved and that is the end of it; it's only the beginning! I am praying for this man because he is right... we do need people standing up for what is right!
R.A. Smith is 100% about the whole "turning from sin" garbage that is going on in churches. If we had more Curtis Hutsons in the world today, there wouldn't be so many souls going to Hell. If we had more John R. Rice's in the world, we'd have more souls going to Heaven.
I believe we are gaining more Jojn R. Rices in this world realising that John R Rice taught repentance and printed articles in the sword of the Lord about repentance from other preachers. Get a digital subscription of the sword of the Lord and do a search on repentance or repent and see all that Dr. Rice allowed to be published about repentance. It is enlightening to see Dr. Curtis Hutson disagreed with Dr. Rice
I don't mean to be unkind, but it seems to me that you know nothing about John R. Rice and Curtis Hutson. They agreed on A LOT. I have read countless articles from Curtis Hutson quoting something from his "beloved predecessor", John R. Rice. John R. Rice certainly did teach repentance and so did Curtis Hutson, but they knew what it meant. They were very close friends with each other.
This is a continuation of my first reply. Have not seen it yet, buthere you go-
What I see is because of Ryrie and Hodges and other evangelicals preaching against Lordship Salvation and MacArthur claiming repentance as part of salvation-they attack that point. This is the eror of composition, what is true of the whole is true of the part. I think because many IFB's hate Macarthur, they picked up on this point and made it their own. From what I see, I really do not think we have problems with
I do believe this guy is an arrogant nut. He's real sure of alot of things that he really don't know jack squat about, including God. He's got himself elevated to that place of pastor and he's kinda preachin with a manmade false authority. I guess bi-polar folk like him get off on controlling people in their little backwoods church's. Sounds like he's all caught up in a bunch of nonsense. Id pray for him but hell....who am I.
Well, let's see... "bi-polar folk", "little backwoods church"? I'll tell you who you are - a petty bigot. But, hey, don't let that stop you from praying.
Whats the matter, you can't handle the truth ? That guys an absolute nutjob. I don't see the love, I see petty competiveness, children argueing over doctrine they would die for. God is a God of love and is bigger than that arrogant nonsense they call church...with their pastors elevated to levels of authority that is cult like.....it kinda leaves me weak, Ill pray for you too, send a couple up for me ..would ya.
He did a great job of describing what he believes repentance IS NOT. Too bad however that I have no clue, at least based on this clip, of what he believes repentance IS.
i don't care what this guy says about what it is not or is.
it does mean to turn around / change your mind about. you change your view of sin from something you love to something you hate. you strive away from sinning, in terms of sin.
The pastor should spend more time preaching the Gospel than attacking other Christians who share the Good News. Repentance is a changing of the mind. So it stands to believe that one should repent of their sins ..that is have a Godly sorrow for it and change the mind about their sinful life. By the way, you ask do the people believe in the KJV, I would hope that you would really ask them do they believe the Bible as originally written...and it was not in 1600 King's English.
Repentance is the changing of mind... correct! It's not "turn from a life from sin" as that tract described. You'll never find that in the Bible (neither will you find the phrase, "repent of sins"). I believe that godly sorrow is going to come along with repentance; I do. However, I get so sick and tired of people saying, "Have sorrow over sins" like that that is the only thing God's concerned about.
It's more than feeling the guilt, it's ACKNOWLEDGING it! A criminal can feel bad about what he's done and he may never do that again... but that is NOT genuine repentance that leads to salvation! Turning to the Lord for the forgiveness of sins is repentance... it's understanding the wickedness of your life as the Bible describes it to be, and turning to God for salvation because He's the only One Who can save you, not yourself!
3. Real penitence; sorrow or deep contrition for sin, as an offense and dishonor to God, a violation of his holy law, and the basest ingratitude towards a Being of infinite benevolence. This is called evangelical repentance, and is accompanied and followed by amendment of life.
Repentance is a change of mind, or a conversion from sin to God.
Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation. 2Cor. 7. Matt. 3.
Repentance is the relinquishment of any practice, from conviction that offended God.
2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Thank you for opening my heart, brother. I've been prideful for a while, but you've opened my heart. You know, I now come to conclusion that the only things we need to expose BY NAME is false religions, false prophets, and false doctrines that lead many to Hell.
God bless.

Romans 11:6

You can't be saved if you don't do that.
bibleword 1 year ago
@SeekTruthinLight The Bible does say that God repented. Do you want the scriptures? Most of the scriptures in the Bible about repentance are about God. Repentance is a change of mind. That's what that is. It isn't about turning away from sin.

JermarParker 2 years ago 3
When you stop trusting in yourself to please God in your flesh adding "turning from sins" as a requirement and co-redeemer with Jesus Christ for salvation you prevent any REPENTANCE from taking place. You repent when you TRUST Jesus Christ ALONE, and give up the notion that "turning from your sins" is required. Sinful creatures can't turn from sins because they have broken the LAW and are on death row ready for execution. The wrath of God abideth on the lost. No empty promises of reformation.

END OF STORY, BEGINNING OF PERMANENT SALVATION.
brainouty 2 years ago 2
@brainouty 1Ti 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
The "doctrine" here Paul refers to is the WHOLE council of God, not one verse out of context. If salvation was necessarily "permanent", why don't we have scripture for that, and why do we have HUNDREDS OF VERSES that show people can and DO lose salvation?
1Co 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
LivingFaith2 1 year ago
@LivingFaith2 Since you cannot read Bible and ASSume that every warning verse is about losing salvation, further reply to you is fruitless. Since you are carnal and puffed up, you cannot read Bible and ASSume wrongly. In fact, what's happening to you is that you are LOSING SPIRITUAL MATURATION, so will have nothing but yourself saved at the end, 1Cor3.
Did you get that? It's a PROOF passage among hundreds of others, that you lose something, alright -- the REWARDS. But not, salvation.

STUDY!
locustweed 2 years ago
If you would care to read the context of James 2 this is is specifically explaining *being saved* IN THE EYES OF MAN. NOT GOD! Man cannot see your faith--therefore you must have works to "show" others (man) you are saved. GOD ALREADY *KNOWS* IF YOU ARE SAVED. Romans 4:2 Romans4:5. WE don't need to show HIM anything! Proof: James 2:18--"shew me" and "I will will shew thee". This obviously man to man demonstration of faith. Read Romans 4:1 works not accepted before GOD for Justification.

Think a little fella!
locustweed 2 years ago
no one has said unsaved people were dead to sin. you can only be dead to sin through sharing Jesus's burial a resurrection...
no one was speaking of the fig tree we were speaking of the "Tower that fell ..."

GOOD LUCK!

Repenting does not mean to become sinless since that is an impossibility. The Bible has a clear example of what repentance is in action.
Luke 18:13,14 NIV

You can repent and do evil!!!
locustweed 2 years ago
Jesus first sermon of His Ministry began with the word repent:
Matthew 4:17
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
He did not say "Only Believe: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
He said repent, change your mind from a life of sin to a life in God. leave you sin and follow Him.
you can not have you sin and salvation too. choose which master you will serve.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
1. You should ALWAYS compare spiritual with spiritual. Last time I checked, Webster wasn't God.
2. It says repent.. Not repent of sins.
God repented many times in the Old Testament and He also at certain times did NOT want the Istraelites to repent at certain times.
Like when He led them out of Egypt. :)

The pastor should spend more time preaching the Gospel than attacking other Christians who share the Good News. Repentance is a changing of the mind. So it stands to believe that one should repent of their sins ..that is have a Godly sorrow for it and change the mind about their sinful life. By the way, you ask do the people believe in the KJV, I would hope that you would really ask them do they believe the Bible as originally written...and it was not in 1600 King's English.
jhnsnsc1 3 years ago
Repentance is the changing of mind... correct! It's not "turn from a life from sin" as that tract described. You'll never find that in the Bible (neither will you find the phrase, "repent of sins"). I believe that godly sorrow is going to come along with repentance; I do. However, I get so sick and tired of people saying, "Have sorrow over sins" like that that is the only thing God's concerned about.
bibleword 2 years ago
