  • I thought I was good at this game but this just shows how much I need to improve

  • you play good

  • gotta love the 50k bonus on round 10!

  • @lightningbolt99999

    Easy bonus always rules!

  • lol on round 5 that's what i always do! haha

  • @lightningbolt99999

    Great minds think alike!

  • @SeventhSun ok

  • @sergyboy1

    Yeah.

  • @SeventhSun Fine

  • @sergyboy1

    Of course.

  • @SeventhSun and do Pac-Man Arcade Midway

  • @sergyboy1

    I'll think about it.

  • @seventhsun Plz Make Pac Man Nes

  • @sergyboy1

    I'd try.

  • i play this in Retro Gamer

  • @sergyboy1

    Cool.

  • I just finished a video of the first 15 levels of the arcade version; I didn't realize how many things were different in the NES version, though. Besides the annoying fact that you can't drill while another piece of land is falling, this is a far superior version of the game.

  • Thanks for posting. It was fun to watch an expert play this difficult game.

  • i just got this for 2 bucks today. I'm on the fence. It's different from the dig dug I remember.

  • @atypicalmystery

The first one is too monotonous. In this one you can do more things, so different is not always that bad.

  • well i doesn't look bad but in my opinion the first game had better music and concept but i may pick this up.

  • @Omnigamers

Maybe but that's only one tune and one concept over and over and I don't really like it. Repetition in retro games kill me.

And nah, if it seems difficult then do pass this up by all means. You shouldn't do something you dislike and be miserable.

  • i didnt know there was a type of digdug like this!

  • NES or Famicom?

  • Japanese Famicom.

  • 8:30 a gift from nebraska

  • For over 3 years this video has about 29, 648 and 4.5 star ratings on average at this point of time.

When I do a better quality one I will remove this one and for the new video I will also simply disable all ratings.

I don't need audience approval or support seriously.

  • Hi. Did you make any sequels to this video? Have you ever completed all the levels in Dig Dug 2? How many levels are there anyway? Thanks.

  • 4:39 - I feel your pain. That drives me up the wall.

  • Thanks for the resonance.

  • I love this game. I saw the arcade ver. in Namco Museum Battle Collection and I instantly fell in love with it. I like sinking all the enemies all at once in certain stages lol.

  • I wanted the option to run after them with a power tool.

  • Played this game on a multi-pack arcade machine, don't currently own it. (BTW, I'm jdaster64 from the BitForums)

  • Hmm, interesting.

This game always gets sidelined by its extremely boring predecessor often for unfathomable biased and stupid reasons.

  • @SeventhSun i'm sorry to say but i liked the first one better because

a)you actually dug, not just throw dirt into the water

b)i liked the music of the first one better.

    (random reasons)lol

    confusing game play

    bad story

it's a sequel, no 80s game sequels were as good as the first, look at Mario and Zelda

  • @shadowlink4swords

The music in the first game is repetitive. II's music is cheerier and has more variety, though the first piece is good enough for the whole game. I's story is superb? I didn't know that.

Sequel haters? Not all 80s sequels are bad. The real Japanese Mario 2 is too hard, so the Japs made a USA Mario 2 version for Westerners. Zelda II is innovative and creative in its deviated game concept, and so made many conformist gamers cry and feel very hurt.

  • @shadowlink4swords

And Castlevania 2 is the one that truly blows. Super C is too diluted but playable. Ninja Gaiden (Ryukenden) 2, Double Dragon II and even to an extent, Rockman 2 shines as better sequels.

Confusing gameplay is the only mild thing I would truly agree with in this otherwise-perfect game.

  • love the music at 1:19 n the hurry up chime too lol

  • I never knew there was a digdug 2

  • i loved the levels with the black water

  • Dig Dug fan, never seen this game, but it's awesome!

  • wow you rock

  • this game is too fun

  • Something I always wondered, Why did mcdonalds use their jingle from the 1up sound?

:P i think that dig dug had it first

and since Mc donalds is crap and i don't eat fast food, :)

I think Bandai Should sue them hahaha.

  • Yeah baby yeah!

And except for their Sausage McMuffin (with egg) and Hot Cakes I don't really dig their food too. I prefer Long John Silvers and Kentucky Fried Chicken.

  • @SeventhSun ever been to a LJS/KFC combination? they make those and they be awesome

  • the fish tht jump out of the water don't appear in the updated version = (

  • there was a seconddig dug one?

  • Yes, there really is.

  • yes and this cart is one of my favorites, Adore this game i only get to around 136,000 points though :(

  • Well it's not bad. And it's cool we both love Dig Dug II ~_^

  • I remember playing this back when I was a young child. Ah, the memories.

  • I really like this video. I real person playing instead of the usual spliced romhacks we see flying around.

  • Thank you!

  • thx for putting it up. good old day.

  • No problem.

  • I like this than the first one. I thinkMr.Driller is actually has connection to Dig dug because Taizo mori(The star of Dig dug) is Susumu's(the star of Mr.Driler) father.

  • haha, that Pooka at 7:53 committed suicide

  • Yeah, what a coward.

  • What's your high score? I find it starts getting pretty tough after about $300K

  • This looks allot better then the 1st Dig Dug.

  • This was a fun game and unlike most sequels, actually included a variation on the gameplay.

  • It's a shame that Namco has sort of brushed the sequel under the carpet, It's the deformed half brother of DigDug they keep locked under the stairs and feed a bucket of fish heads to every day.

I think their game Mr. Driller was the true spirital sequel to the game.

  • GREAT game, cool vid, thanks for sharing

  • Hmm I guess this could be another major reason as to why this sequel wasn't too popular with gamers.

  • Thanks I used to have no fucking idea how you were supposed to play this game for the system. Now I have some fucking clue as to how to play this game. (for the system)

  • Haha sure. Now that you have an idea, I hope you'll enjoy it too.

  • I love this game adn the original one.Must pick up famicom versions of both...

  • The DS Dig Dug game is practically a combination of both games.

  • Yup, sadly I thought it would be this game in a more '3D' looking setting with a password system and a decent storyline added but sadly, they've developed an entirely different game.

Hope that one would be nice though.

  • BTW is the game is really that hard to find? You mentioned "limited numbers".

  • I think that should be their style. Anyway it's not too difficult - quite often there are complete or just cartridge auctions on ebay, and once in a while you may also even find a new sealed copy, but since the manual sucks, I'll pass it up to you guys ;)

  • I have another name for this Space Gardener Hori Taizo:

The Boy with the Transparent Eyes.

  • I actually like this sequel! Funny thing is I haven't heard of this until I found the cartridge at a flea market last week.

  • Cool to hear that! Yeah it's quite sad because Namco or its North American distributors didn't seem to believe in this game so much to release it themselves, so independent toymaker Bandai took the USA task and probably released it in limited numbers (like it did with Dragon Ball for the PSOne), which is also a sad thing because Bandai happens to create sucky manual covers for its published games.

  • If only Working Designs were also in the Game Boy business... they would likely have noticed this masterpiece and contested for its release, and we'll get a shiny manual with many more colors!

Thus I tried to find the famicom version with the manual (which looked way better) but it is hard even on ebay.

  • When this came out Atari/Tengen owned the rights to Namco games in NA.

  • Yeah, pardon my speech, but these hopeless US companies obviously did not believe in this game that we both know (and probably some others out there) and love. This game would have remained in Japan if it weren't for Bandai's efforts.
