They're using a third canopy that attaches to your rings on harness. You can see the guy holding the parachute in the dbag in his hands in the beginning. Simply cutaway the third canopy and deploy your main. No reserves used.

@danikron it depends on the wind. We try yo have someone on standby to chase the canopies.

@danikron as stated.. it depends on How high you are when you cut away, how strong the winds are.. MOST cases... the Jumper that has the malfunction... watches (and tries to land near) the Main parachute if it is safe to do so... since that is the expensive part... and one of your other jumpers are supposed to follow the Free bag... and people on the ground that see it... try to watch where both land... so if you can't find it.. they can help..but I have spent hours in cornfields looking

The guy who cutway, has 3 chute, look how he exit the plane. His parachute is not packt.

for intentional cutaway jumps your required to have the extra reserve, safety first! and his chute was packed, you can see the d-bag still in the plane, similar to a static line jump!

a deployment like that is called a hop and pop..... They are usually done at around 7000 but because these guys where purposly cutting away it way have been higher
