Hi, I'm from Argentina and I can understand 90% or 95%. I Speak Spanish and it sounds like Italian to me. Maybe it's because Interlingua's heart is Latin. Whatever, I like Interlingua. I have no problem with it. :)

  • im going to be a poly glot

  • Wow!!!! This so freaky great. I can't speak, nor write in this language and yet I understand it. I must be the marijane.

  • Sounds like Spanish to me. =/

  • Interlingvao estas bela.

  • i'm french. It's a bit weird to understand so much in a language you have never heared before! Maybe i should envisage learning spanish or italian...:)

  • I'm Italian; I don't speak Spanish, but I understand these words.

  • it sounds just like spanish, maybe with a slight italian flavor

  • @AysarAburrub I hear also latin (ancient roman, not latin espanol)

  • Why are all constructed languages just a mildly different spanish? :/ Not that international imo

Click on my UserName for courses and animations in Interlingua, very funny :))

  • Very nice to hear this beautiful language put to use. :)

There is a "concrete" methodology of pronunciation, yet as Interlingua is intended to be used by speakers of various languages and accents, no real accent can be said to exist.

  • Why don't you just learn Spanish instead so you can talk to 300,000,000 people instead of 100 language nerds?

  • I think its not the number of speakers that matters but the cultur...for me u get more cultur learning a native american language then to learn spanish...not that I speak a native language, just saying

for example if people do a larp but where only languages from lord of the rings is accepted then its good to learn but languages like esperanto have no real cultur

Just some white people u think they are unique because few people can understand them

  • @akumie

I think Esperantists would agree that Esperanto is "culturally neutral". But, if you consider languages from "Lord of the Rings" as having a "real culture", you should admit that Esperanto also has one, because there are worldwide hospitality and tourism networks using Esperanto as their language.

  • @tomatessechees

very true, especially when spanish-speakers like Moyetito above claim they can "understand a 98 or 99%"

  • you're flying white text over white boxes

  • Io es italiano , parla e ama interlingua!

  • I don't like Interlingua, Volapuk, Ido and Solresol and all the others. ESPERANTO is the only true world language!

  • this not have nothing of the spanish language! Nothing.. apart of we are the second most of language speakers in all world!

thats racist and discriminative.. smell to USA, shit

  • Sure it's probably a good language.. but I speak English and Dutch and the text didn't make sense to me at all.. I think it's easy to learn for those who speak Roman languages, but it isn't useful at all for the rest of the Europian countries.

  • I think you are right, my first language is Spanish and I can understand a 98 or 99%

  • I understand everything in the movie, but speaking and writing Esperanto is easier for me though.

  • I know English, Portuguese and Spanish. I've also studied some French.

That was quite easy to understand, but felt odd.

  • where can i learn interlingua?? I am a mexican spanish speaker

  • Here is a good way for a Spanish speaker to learn Interlingua. Read one or two issues of Panorama, a brief Interlingua magazine. If you dont know a word, look it up in an Interlingua-Spanish dictionary. You could probably use an ordinary Spanish dictionary, since Interlingua and Spanish are so similar. Soon, you will be looking up very few words. You can subscribe (abonar) to Panorama at the UMI website. Just do a search for Union Mundial pro Interlingua and it should come up.

  • Thanks a lot I will try that, I am really interested since I like learning languages. Gracias amigo!

  • interlingua is also very similar to french (which makes sense cuz french and spanish are very similar)...which means that I'm able to understand a large part of what is being said, since im a french-canadian bilingual in english and french, and I'm learning spanish

  • If you speak Interlingua, you can talk to people who speak Spanish, Italian, French, or any other Romance language and they'll understand you - that's 600,000,000 people already, counting only the Romance languages. According to some authors, Interlingua takes only a week to learn. I actually learned it in less than a week - light studying in the evening. Then, you can learn several languages in about half the time.

  • If you learn Italian or Spanish you will be able to talk to many, many more people than if you learn Interlingua.

  • I'd probably agree - some speakers won't talk back to you if they can't pick the language you're speaking, so they're more likely to respond to someone speaking something they know of (e.g. Italian) than something like interlingua.

  • Italy here, i can understand perfectly

  • as a spanish/castellano speaker I could understand all of that

  • Do we all have to turn into robots to become interlingua-speakers?

  • I don't know what you try to say with 'we all'. I've learned Interlingua and I'm not a robot. Don't you know what study means? If you learn spanish or french then you only can talk whit those wo speak spanish and french. But if you learn Interlingua you'll talk with lots of people around the world, but it cost obviously

  • I was joking. The reader is obviously not a robot, but I bet he's lobotomized.

  • It's O.K. I was too dramatic -.-

China o Arabia non cognosceN lAS paraulAS latinAS.

    CONCORDANTIA DE ADJECTIVOS JAM!!

  • As long as you know a Romance and Germanic language, you'll be able to understand it. Spanish and English look very useful for this language.

Ah ah!

  • as a portuguese speaker I could understand all of that
