  • awsome

  • Lovely and meaningful words.. Simple and so real. This is John Denver.

  • Luke 2:16-20

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

  • Man, I wish Gennie James was still acting. She had a unique talent.

  • The look on the little girls face says it all!

John had a way of drawing you in when he sang!

This is one of the best Christmas movies ever!!

  • Kirkba, thanks for the information below! Glad to know that Gennie James is alive and well and probably loving what she does~!! Merry Christmas everyone and God Bless John for making this wonderful Christmas movie!!!

  • I first saw Gennie James in the Secret Garden and was smitten. My 2nd crush after Kaleena Kiff from the New Leave it to Beaver.

I was so excited a few months later when i saw this was going to be on tv. But halfway through my mom made me go to bed. I protested heartily but to no avail.

It was 10 years before I was able to see the second half of the movie and I now make sure I watch it every Christmas.

  • I love this movie, I have been searching for it forever, I wish you could post the whole thing...Lol...Thanks for this ! God Bless:)

  • This is a Christmas favorite, as well as a JD fav song - thanks so MUCH for posting!!!!

  • This song make me cry...but smile at the same time. Especially at the end =*)

  • I saw this movie today on the Hallmark channel. One of my new favorites.

  • R.I.P John Denver. Merry Christmas

  • Saw the movie for the first time last night and loved it! It was so heart-warming and that little girl (Gennie James) is so freakin adorable - she is THE CUTEST child actor/actress I have ever seen! I just wanted to pull her out of my TV and keep her! She was such an excellent actress in this movie! My mom has always loved John Denver so of course I grew up listening to his music. Now, I need to try and find the movie so I can buy it! What ever happend to Gennie James?

  • As one of the writers of the movie, I am pleased so many folks still like it!

    Christopher Grabenstein

  • Thank you Christopher, for writing such a wonderful movie! Was it written with John Denver in mind as the leading man or was he chosen after it was written? Either way, he was the perfect choice. Too bad he wasn't in more movies. We need John Denver in our lives again, now more than ever. What I've often wished for is a new movie with an accurate portrayal of his life and character.

  • Actually, if I remember correctly, we originally thought of Richard Thomas (John Boy from the Waltons) when we were writing the script. Credit the producer Norman Rosemont with the Denver selection -- the two of them were ski buddies in colorado!

  • Yes, I can see Richard Thomas in that role. I like him too, but am so glad the role went to JD. Denver was offered the starring role in "Officer and A Gentleman" but turned it down, a decision that he deeply regretted. He loved acting. He was an amazing singer/songwriter and in consideration of his efforts on behalf of the environment, NASA and the Hunger Project was one of the world's finest human beings in my opinion.

  • @cgrabber1955 thank you from a John Denver fan! Merry Christmas . : )

  • @cgrabber1955 Hopefully you'll get this message. When is this movie going to be available in DVD. They don't even show it on TV anymore (except Hallmark which we don't get on our cable)

  • @cgrabber1955 It would never really be Christmas for me without watching this movie. Thank you for being one of the writers!

  • @cgrabber1955 You did a wonderful job... one of my all time favorite Christmas movies. God bless you and may John Denver rest in peace, he is sorely missed : (

  • @cgrabber1955 this is one of the best sweetest movies and John will be missed here in Colorado

  • @cgrabber1955 great moie i watched it last night

  • I had never seen this movie. Made-for-TV Christmas movies are usually just too sappy for me. BUT, after seeing this clip with JD, I had to see the whole movie. Found a copy on eBay and watched it last night. So sweet, and what a perfect character for him to play. He - and everyone - did a nice job.

Can't believe I spent $20 plus shipping for a 20+-year-old VHS tape! But it's a new holiday classic for me.

  • can you still post more of this video I love john he is my idol and that little girl is an excellent actor

  • The Feeling of Christmas....It may be something we've all lost touch with over the years. Especially after discovering that Santa Claus wasn't "real" in those younger days. Today, that feeling of joy and warmth I've lost touch with for so long now, came back into my heart. It made me feel wonderful. I felt like a little girl again as I watched this movie.Christmas isn't just a holiday. It's a Feeling. It's that spirit of Love and Giving. It feels good to remember those feelings.

  • one of my favorite movies! It's on every year on the Hallmark channel around Christmas.

  • I loooooooooooooooooooooooooove this video it is my favorite John Denver video

  • want a copy i will send you one free of charge callme 239-275-4886 leave address

  • kkkkkkkk

  • hjhcjcjuycu

  • Every year I watch this I can't help but cry it started when I was seven in 1987 and ever year since.

  • Oh John, we miss you everytime!!!

  • This is a holiday film my family watches yearly. I look forward to it every year. John was and still is a real blessing.

    Rest In Peace John.

  • Which holiday film is it? I wish I had a copy. I've got "Oh God," and watch it a lot.

  • The Christmas Gift is one of my fave holiday films.

Just a heads up, around Dec, look for it to be played on Hallmark Channel or Lifetime. Those two networks always play it. It's also on Amazon and Ebay...but very costly. But since he and Genie ( Alex ) are both gone, it's a collectors item and something to remember them by.

I wish you nothing but luck in finding a copy.

  • I just ordered my copy from EBAY. Couldn't wait to get it. But i have a question. When did Gennie James pass away? I couldn't find any information on her on the web at all. I've seen all the movies that she appeared in but nothing on the interenet about her passing.

  • I am very happy that you got yourself a copy. To be honest with you, I just searched for an answer for you. I was told oodles of yrs ago of her passing. That wound up making the movie that much more special to me, because they both were alive. Now after searching...I do appologize for any misleading information. I am stunned by no death info, I am to assume, I was told false info.

I know you spent some cash on the vhs, it was well spent.

  • Thank you for the update. So, I am thinking that she may be still alive! Hopefully that is the case; what a gifted little actress she is! You are right, as the money was very well spent on the tape......Great day to all

  • Gennie James left the acting business quite a number of years ago, from what I've heard, but is alive and well. It would seem she decided not to continue to pursue acting as a career. She indeed was a very gifted actress. I saw her in "Places In The Heart", "A Secret Garden", and "Alex: The Life of A Child" and I was impressed with her talent.

Whatever she is doing now, she's left an impressive body of work behind (thank you Gennie!) and I wish her well.

  • I saw somewhere online a while back a guy who said he was Gennie's brother-in-law. He said Gennie dropped out of the public eye after being a victim of identity theft years ago but is alive and well working as a nurse in the Dallas area.

  • Saw this movie years ago. I SO wish they'd produce it on CD.

  • Me Too!

  • Life use to be so much more simple and pleasant. People always accuse John Denver of being cheesy but I think the world is just too tainted. You rock John and we miss you.

  • Cute indeed- thanks for adding this!!

  • Nice scene. It's incredible, that I've never seen this movie. Can I download it somewhere?

  • Aspen1987 I watch this movie every year at Christmas time....This is my favourite part in the movie.....Now I can drop in and watch this part anytime. Thanks for posting..

  • A Special Movie Moment, A Special Song, A Special Man ... Happy Birthday, John ...

  • What a wonderful scene - thanks for sharing it.
