Having listened to many performances of this piece, this is my favorite. Are they the greatest trio? No. But they play with such intimate understanding (to my mind) of late Schubert, and with such careful attention to phrasing, and listen to each other so well, that, well, that nothing else matters. I wish they would record this. Wonderful.

i'm currently playing this piece (as pianist) and, believe me or not, it is so damn hard to play well

My father -who is a colleagu of yours- was once asked by me (I believe after a concert) ifhe didn't find the slower pieces harder to play than the comparably up-tempo. (cont. in message 2).

Being my father, he looked at me and answered that tempo had no relevance as to difficulty, still he did not understand that I meant my question regarding the trio and not just his own part. I understand the difficulty -as there is none in listening to the piece- but remembering the details and propagations of it is very hard. Good luck to you with it!
