braided line is the best for this! mono sucks! for all of you that are pike fishermen go with briaded dont listen to this guy! pike will break mono in a heartbeat! and braid doesnt make the lure get tangled when you turn it side to side it works better i think.

Fish it on slack line. A popping, rythmic wrist action on slack line will allow you to walk the dog.

why would you tie braid directly to the lure anyway? i use braid for my main line and a 60lb mono trace for barra fishing.

hi there nice vid,i prefer braid for walking because i just put line floatant on the first 6 feet of my line or rub it on a wax candle to float the line,mono is way too weak and stretchy

lol Zebco 33 is to much for him.. I think you made a typo he fishes a Zebco 202 lmao... But I will use braid while fishing a walking bait at times.. if I have to make SUPER long cast to schooling fish I will use braid B/C no stretch so I can set the hook even with the lure WAY out there... however other then that you should ONLY USE MONO on any walking bait.. also braid will make the bait harder to walk then it would be with mono... braid also likes to pull small trebles out the fishes mouth....

i love the heddon lures ive cought more fish "walking the dog" than with any other lure i own all species here in n.c. go crazy for them also thebill dance spittin image (menhadden) is my second fav. you can walk it too if you good at it try it out you wont be sorry

Ever tried walkin the dog with an 8 inch floating worm? At the lake near me, from Mid May to the end of summer, a merthiolite or white floating worm rigged on a 5/0 widegapped hook walked on the top or in the first 6 inches of the water collumn really draws the fish up. One gets it, but its not uncommon to see 20-30 fish come up to compete for it.

Mono 14lb the best..Stren.. This is my favorite way to take big fish in warmer water...Spook is hard to beat..I put a 3rd hook in model I use....The pause is everything ....Just like the jerk bait..So over looked bait..walk walk STOP..for at least 3 seconds..They will always kill it on the stop...Works on bedding fish very well ! This bait has won more tournament, but you will never hear a thing about it...
