my instructor advises me to do such low S-turns only when already over 'friendly' terrain such as the LZ...and to keeps the turns flat enough and the airspeed at

best maneuvering, a good 'defense' against wind shadow, turbulence, stalls, etc.

He looked like he was about to stall with every turn and looks like he finally did....I'm not quite sure why he was doing approach S's so far from the LZ by the trees? Beginner? Glad to hear that he came out OK.
