westerners are very short sighted, they blamed japs and korean cars were craps or shitty when they started export to west countries, now almost everyone recognized them,
Now they are having bias on chinese cars, shame on them
Remember they bought the technology, not steal. when people see China, they goes like "steal" "crap". open your eyes and do some research before u put hate comments
Hi there people, I do understand what the china done to rover, but, do any of these so called 'roewes' actually get exported to countries like britain, (or are they still feeling bad about what they done to rover?) I mean, don't want to be mean, but how come rover was there, and then it just.....wasn't?
Seriously, china should stop stealing technology from foreign-based companies. It is pretty strange that after all the allegation tof technological theft from SSangyong motors,SAIC is producing better cars in terms of design and quality. not satisfied with stealing technology from US, Germany and Japan. Now Korea. All advanced countries should be more alert now that china is nowsuper hungry ,super ugly ghost on technology.
@cismok No,of course not. In terms of technology, Korean is a total joke itself. Korean products has very bad reputation in China for its quality problem. Although Korean products are cheaper than Japanese, Germany products, and Chinese Products, but still only a few Chinese customers bought Korean ones.
@cismok I admitted I was one of them. I bought a Samsung LCD TV and it malfunctioned in the first month,I called Samsung and they sent a man to change one component,it worked for another 1 month, and you guess what, it gave me snow pictures again; Ok, I called Samsung again, they sent the man to come to change the main board, and then it was working for another 1 month and malfunctioned again, I was so outraged! I called Samsung for the third time and they sent the man to come to fix it again.
@cismok And you know what, this time it worked for 1 and half year and I was so pleased: finally the problem was solved during the warranty period and I do not need to pay extra money to fix it.But unfortunately,it malfunctioned again 1 month later just after the warranty period passed. I called Samsung for the fourth time, and they sent the man to come to check it and charged me 150 dollars to fix it because that it is not warranted any more.
@cismok I did not accept and let a local technician to fix it for 10 bucks. So anyone think the Korean tech worth to be copied? Here I share another news happening now in China:China's government suspended the license of Korean Kumho Tire Plant because of its large scale quality problem.Check Routers online news here: reuters.com/article/2011/03/23/kumho-china-idUSL3E7EN0E920110323 . For god's sake, Kumho used excessive amounts of recycled tires as raw materials in new tires!!
@cismok My personal opinion is that: without USA's military and financial support, today's South Korea will be as poor as their brother in North Korea, who are supported by China. Both countries need other big countries support to survive.
@1ayeyar2 First of all,SSangyong was annexed by SAIC because without SAIC's financial support,it would have gone bankrupt years ago.SAIC saved SSangyong by annexing it into its corporation. So SSangyong's technology of course became part of SAIC's technology. It is not called "stealing" for god's sake!Secondly,SSangyong's technology is bought from Mercedes's outdated technology, and SSangyong's Chairman was developed based on old type Mercedes S series, which is not SSangyong's technology.Stupid!
@1ayeyar2 You are really very stupid about the Roewe's 550 new model, which evolved from the British Rover annexed by SAIC years ago.So Roewe's 550 has nothing to do with low tech bad quality Korean SSangyang. Do you think that SSangyang has its own technology which worth SAIC invested thousands of millions of dollars to buy?SSangyang's so called technology was actually Mercedes? And now SSangyong is bankrupt again and nobody wants to save it because of savage worker union protest.

@1ayeyar2 Not trolling, just telling the fact. You did not do your homework before you said bad things about China. By the way,no body give a shit to your feeling, you hate hate china or not, which does not stop the earth and China from turning.
@1ayeyar2 Fact is fact, not mine or yours. You are a very shallow man without your own independent thinking and don't have even basic knowledge about what you said. Pathetic. As for China sucks or not, you are not a qualified person to give judgement because that from your your words, I am pretty sure that you are very ignorant about some basic facts. You don't even know that the SSangyang bought Mercedes technology to develop its car and SUV. SSangyang has no ITS OWN technology.
I would not buy a chinese car anymore than i would but anything from china. The quality is crap. The Chinese have no understanding of western quality systems or customer expectations. The chinese are filling this planets land fills with cheap crap tat. Chinese take aways are ok though...fireworks and take aways are all the chinese can give to the west.
"This sedan is actually SAIC's own design and is no longer relevant to British Rover. "
As commented on one of your other videos, please don't distort the facts. This car was already close to completion by MG Rover and Ricardo engineers long before SAIC came into the picture. To say that it is "no longer relevant to British Rover" is an affront to the British engineers who spent years on the project. Fair's fair.

i am chinese, and i say that to you:your united states' big three will go to the hell in this year! them all the labors will lose their jobs. what a wonderful thing to china! we will get all of your jobs and beat you in every fields you can imagine.
I am british, and I say to you Chinese that Chrysler had been supported by FIAT. GM are on a restructuring plan and will defiantly be on track and Ford will hopefully survive. But the question I ask is why did you buy a good car company and make something crap like the Rowee wee 55555000.9 out of it? I would rather Rover burnt in hell!
Roewe 550 is part Rover, Rover were developing a car RDX60.A lot of that development will be present in this new car. Remember they bought the technology.
@thomashome05 Because SAIC already the partner of 50:50 joint venture with VW and GM, both at Shanghai, the Rover is just a stunt for them to meet the political requirement of indigenous designs and get the grant from gov department. Just imagine 90% of 2 million passenger cars that SAIC manufactured each year are with the badges of VW and buick,chevy...
im mexican and i am a fan of ROVER, not fucking Roewe, because you turned Rover into a piece of shit. Why?. Because fucking China. You are discriminating us in your stupid country because of the swine.
The patronising rubbish written in the video info serves no purpose than to cause resentment with European customers. SAIC do not own Rover (Tata do), and this car was developed by MG Rover and Ricardo. We in Britain are doing the development. If this car is "no longer relevant" to the work of British talent, then the Chinese kid themselves. Their home-grown cars are lethal copycat rubbish.
I agree with u, the corp structure and internal management do not reflect economic sense in those SoE, and extreme nationalism do no help but to discourage real talents. That's why many Chinese' creativity has been wiped out.
Just see how many Chinese customers would choose and rely on 'indigenous designs'? Do it but don't force it or mock customers as unpatriotic.
Actually I don't like Chinese cars, but this one looks pretty good and it isn't only a cheap copy of an european car like the Roewe 750 (Rover in China - a nightmare).
I think, it's a proof that they are able to build great cars by their own as well es we in Europe do.
And I also think that this car could be successfull here in Europe.
Yeah, SAIC is the partners of VW for 25 years and GM for 12 years, SAIC-VW is producing Polo, Passat, while some Buick/Opel Insignia and astra built at SGM at 75% localisation.
I was shocked last year when a supplier told me 'Wholly indigenous design' is able to help the firm to cheat financial assistance from 'Indigenous R&D' scheme.
