That's what a lot of people think, but they're actually more like shellfish. I suppose I see why so many people think they look like insects. Now, you're right about the aliens in the show Space Above & Beyond. They were modeled after chiggers, which is why they called them "the chigs." But I think aliens as insects has been done too much. Aliens that resemble prawns is kind of refreshing.
