  • Nice set up and I'm a lefty too. I'm still wondering why the 338 Lapua is getting so popular and the 338 RUM can do exactly the same thing for less money? Or even a 338 Edge? If I move up from my 300 RUM it will most likelybe the 338 Edge which is just the 300 RUM necked up. So why the Lapua? Thanks in advance for an answer.

  • @14goldmedals I did it mostly just because I wanted something a little unique. They (Remington) don't make them like this and there aren't many like it out there, if any, that are 338 Lapua build on a left handed 700.

  • whos left handed gun

  • @caseyray33 Mine.

  • whos brake are you using? Is it factory?

  • @Jeepsterls1 Vias. No, the rifle is a custom build. Google "left hand Remington Lapua" and you can read about my build

  • @smallblockfuelie Thats kinda what i was thinking, couldnt see it that well. The vias is and awesome break im about to have the boys in hondo put one on my 30-378.

  • ya heres a tip. save your brass! and sell it and buy new ammo.

  • @annasajerk Fortunately I am set up to reload and am able to save some serious money by rolling my own.

  • @smallblockfuelie ok good. whats the longest you've shot?

  • @annasajerk 500 yards so far.

  • @smallblockfuelie the ammo is expensive??

  • @citationxbjfv Yes. Commercial ammunition can run $100 to $120 for 20 rounds.

  • is that a thread on the barrel?

  • @mtber360 It has a screw on muzzle brake, if that is what you're asking.

  • @smallblockfuelie yeah, how does it shoot with the muzzle brake? are you shooting handloads?

  • @mtber360 Yes on hand loads. It does an amazing job of helping to reduce recoil. Between the brake and weight of the rifle the felt recoil is less than my 30-06.

  • @smallblockfuelie nice, i got a 30-06 too. im looking at getting something bigger like a 458 lott

  • left handed action too?

  • @hiline345 Yes.

  • Thanks for using finnish products! :)

  • @Teqo7

actually probably no using any finnish products the rifle is a remington so the only thing that i see thats finnish is the round itself and im sure the components he used to reload are US anyways

  • Lapua is a town in Finland... And the rounds are invented there. So they are finnish products. Hope you understand.

  • hes using a finnish designed round not finnish products thanks for the info though

  • The brass is Lapua.

  • haha sweet how many grains and what powder you using.

  • I believe it was a 215 grain Nosler and H1000 powder.

  • shot the dodge

  • R U serious? U really think that can only shoot one bullet at a time? Single fires dont have bolts, thats to put the next shell into the chamber

  • Actually, single fires can be bolt action. The Steyr HS .50 for example is a single shot bolt action rifle and large calibre.

  • my bad, i was wrong, i even knew that i just kinda replied really fast

  • It is a precision rifle meant for slow accurate fire. Most of them are single feed bolt action rifles. Besides this one may have an internal magazine.

  • It does have a magazine.

  • ouch, sounds like you dropped about 1500

  • LOL ... I wish ! That would buy the scope.

Seriously though, call a local gun smith and see what sort of price he would quote you.

  • Are you sure about that?

  • yes, look up the .338 edge, youll understand what i mean....it could always be a new project, i wasnt flaming you or anything, just bringing it to your attention.

  • nice rifle, i am a lefty, haha but yea i need to get a howa 1500 .308 soon, they shoot similar, but if you can do that with a remington 700 just tell me how much it cost you.

  • A chunk. Call your gunsmith and ask him what he would charge.

  • I'm sure he will be glad to know!

  • What kind of action did you use?

  • It's a Remington 700 left hand long action.

  • Can you guesstimate about how much you end up paying per shot by the time the brass wheres out?(assuming you reload)

  • About $1.00 to $1.50 or so, I'd guess.

  • That rifle is around 14 pounds and was built to handle the recoil. The recoil from this particular rifle is nearly non-existent.

  • Thats nice looks like he did a good job. What kind of stock is that almost looks like a mcmillan?

  • It is a Manners stock. Thanks!

  • nice im diggin everything about that gun. is 338 pretty expensive to buy as well reload?

  • Unfortunately, yes. Brass is about $2 per if you're a reloader. Factory ammo is very spendy.

  • a lefthanded gun shooting right handed?

  • Yes, the guy wanted to shoot a 338 Lapua. So he got to shoot my rifle.

  • just another barrel or what?

    looks cool!

  • That is a Shilen barrel with a #7 contour and a Vias muzzle brake. Thanks!

  • shilen very nice prefer lilja my self.

  • They make a great barrel too.

  • Actually it is a customized Remington model 700.

  • is that the CZ?
