  • the mexican work for the chinks here in nyc but the puerto ricans are so lazy. i mean really lazy. america needs to kick immigrant puetro ricans out the country they don't bring nothing to the table all they are good for is for hogging up the check cashing places all over nyc in ever single brough. they all get on my nerves, they just want free living they are really to laid back in the USA

  • It has nothing to do with culture but more of how fast immigrants assimilate to American culture.

  • Part 3.

There are several scholar articles and research that points out to all these factors and more. Before we think on changing the mentality of certain ethnic groups in education, first we must analyze the education system to identify any disparities that places students of color at a disadvantage. We must be critical thinkers about this and not make ridiculous assumptions that adds to the Latino stereotype in this country.

  • @E2Co latinos are not being sterotype so stop lying

  • Part 2.

This is just one factor in the equation. You also have to look beyond the cultural norms and place a critical lens on the education system from K to 12. This lead to disparities in H.S where Latinos/as are not being properly educated in college admission and the lack of financial literacy when it comes to FAFSA. In addition, how many Latino youth are not U.S citizens nor residents? This is also another factor that limits the Latino community access to education.

  • @E2Co another lie about latinos are not being educated properly, again according to the stat most latinos cant read and write in english nor can latinos read and write correctly in your own native spanish language

  • Part 1.

This issue is beyond whether Latinos/as value education. You have to analyze the systematic oppressive layers in our society and in higher education that throughout the years have prevented, not just African-Americans, but any person of color to having access to higher education. People don't connect the historical content of segregation with contemporary issues on access to higher ed.

  • @E2Co okay you cant mix you immigrant latinos up with black americans history. black americans and you immigrant latinos share no historical history with eachother so dont try it

  • @E2Co another lie, latinos are not being oppressed in the usa because if they was they would packup and go back to poortarico but your not latinos migrate to the usa for a better life and to collect free shyt

  • Perhaps it would be great for you to take some intercultural studies courses and get educated before you speak! There are more factors than just "cultural" values. And FYI, NOT all "latinos" are Mexican. I am about to obtain my degree in Education, so I know that it is not only about cultural values, there are so many socioeconomic problems that include institutional racism, which prevents people from breaking the status quo. The fact that you do NOT agree with some values does NOT make it wrong

  • @SupremeARA915 republicans are racist faggots, and you're stupid he just said latinos value education more than whites and dumb fuck stupid wealthy rich asshole republicans conservatives

  • @SupremeARA915 I agree. He said himself that when he visited Perth Amboy the schools were different. Does he not see that he had access to better schools than most Latinos? Im sure when his parents came from Turkey they did not face the same discrimination that forced them into schools that are substandard

  • Hey cenk, beso mi culo.

  • Latinos do value education but many don't have the understanding of how to get upper division education. Parents may not have completed elementary school much less high school or college. Hard to guide their kids.

Bottom line, call the admissions office of the school you'd like to go to, ask 4 admission pkg, it will provide a roadmap how to get there. Get really good grades easier to get fininacial assistance. Focus on math and science. Register to vote and vote = power!

  • @warmwomyn how can you speak for all Latinos? saying that most parents have not completed high school ... you are aware that Latino is not a race or a nationality? 're talking about over 26 countries who are Latino ... all the countries of Latin America and Portugal, France, Italy, Spain, Romania and parts of Canada, the city of quebec is Latin because it was colonized by the French ... so before you talk about education and culture, research what you're saying.

  • Im salvadorian, my parents want me to go to an Ivy league college, and there stricter than those stereotypical Chinks, my mom Forces me to value the shit out of education. I got 3.7 in my GPA and she just says work harder . Btw i hate how erragant asians are always acting. They think there all that and it gets annoying.

  • I'M A LATINA AND I VALUE EDUCATION WOOT WOOT

  • 18 people are private school/secret society

  • First of all we Latinos are different, I know that some of us think we are the same and its only because the media and society has put into our heads that we are. But in truth I'm Puerto Rican, and my family is mostly Afro Boricua. We all have different upbringings, different culture, if you think we all have the same culture traditions, and we all look the same than your stupid, and you must learn before you speak. Also Latino and Hispanic is not a race or ethnicity.

  • @ConcepcionPR but its not the Puerto rican, they are probably the smallest (a total of 4mil puerto ricans world wide, thats aprox.) btw im also puerto rican but my family is euro-boricua, most of my family looks white but we have some afo in there too. we are proud of our european and african ancestory and culture of both races.

  • @ConcepcionPR what is a Afro Boricua?

  • College loans are driving up tuition.

  • You know I am actually recently made my decision about what school to go to and the Debt part is actually true. My mom was fretting that I was offered loans because she didn't want me to get alot of debt despite the fact that that's relatively low. The work part is absolutely right because most of us are taught that providing is the most important thing.

  • Very well said.

  • Automation and exportation of jobs has hit people with Ph.D.'s in chemistry. OWN companies, OWN the means of production. It will soon be that very, very few OWN all of the food, water, basics that we need, that they will not need many people to work for them at any significant level and so will build their fortresses and hope the plebs don't turn to theft to get by. SO, SO much is based around piddly little services and entertainment now. Chances are: you're not NEEDED.

  • The internet is revolutionizing learning.

More universities are putting up their lectures online webcasted, and

more people are creating web tutorials, etc.

In a few years, I hope that even "poor schools" will be able to realize that they too can tap into that wealth of knowledge. All they need to do is inspire students to learn. Which is tough.

A good friend of mine told me he didn't care about school because selling drugs raked in the money so college seemed pointless to him.

    So it's tough.

  • I am Mexican, my husband is American, he had the opportunity to go to college, all paid by his family. I had the opportunity to go to college, saving money when I was working during high school. Unfortunately my husband did not want to go, losing an amazing experience. I had to stop going to college because I had my tuition money stolen from me, my credit card overcharged, not allowed back to school, leaving me with nothing but debt & frustration over my husband not taking a great opportunity.

  • Statically immigrants do better in school because they know how to value education.

  • I can relate to the not wanting to get into debt. There is no way I'm going to get a loan unless it's something that 100% can not be avoided.

  • How much a person values education or anything in life for that matter isn't due to there race or culture but more so the environment in which they grew up in and the people they were surrounded by. It doesnt matter if your hispanic, black, white, middle eastern or asain if you grow up in a hostile environment, education might not be a top priority and vice versa if you grow up in a stable envirnoment it might but in the end it all falls on your own personal character and experience.

  • @bkangel814 I agree with you on most of the part. But, another factor is motivation. My mom grew up in a very violent family background and my stepdad grew up in a stable family. Both of them dropped out, but my mom went to a four year college and got her Masters. My stepdad went to college, but only because my mom forced him too and I think he is about to drop out, he's dropped out in the past before.

  • @shadowgirl9891 Im extremely late on replying but i agree as well and i do admit that was one factor that i completely overlooked so thank you

  • @bkangel814 Thanks, and I need to get on the ball with studying.

  • @bkangel814 Hispanics are lazy they watch too much tv and won't read a book. america needs to deport all hispanics back to spain & let the pope take care of them lazy selves

  • People please don't pay attention to 12 year olds. Obviously after reading a comment of some dumb ass by saying "an education will not make you stop being stupid". So pretty much we all should get an education and be stupid while we make 50 to 80 k a year, and the other less than 15 k :)))) i rather BE STUPID MAKING 80K AND WORKING WARM IN MY OFFICE THAN ..THAT PYREOFATE i think his boss is Asian. )

  • Is he talking about Mexicans/Mexican-Americans or Latinos in general? The former makes up the overwhelming majority of Latinos but they are only representative of Mexican culture. They need to separate the polling by national background.

  • Yup my mother ALWAYS supports me about school-related things and is flexible with my crazy schedule. I am fortunate to go to a private school. I don't think I would be where I am now if I didn't go to one. I sometimes feel my mother is the stereotypical asian mother because she gets disappointed when I have a B in a class -_-.

  • lol hey! Get Ana out of that box!

  • To the flame war down below... What point does this have to the video? Isn't rather juvenile?

  • @TheDukeOfEden Yeah, but this is less of a Social issue and more of a Political one.

Lets face it, the GREAT majority of the current parent generation from Latin America that DID go to college in the 70ies and 80ies came out, to put it mildly, VERY left wing.

Not very compatible with the world they where forced to live in.

  • No, as a Latino myself I am ashamed of several of these fucking idiots running around having babies and dropping out of high school. So Education is not that important in the Latino community, several of these kids drop out of school and usually the parents support the decision as long as the kid finds a dead end job! And what I really don't understand is why would you compound the situation after they already knocked up some broad! We need TOM Back! Search for TOM LEYKIS! He speaks the truth.!

  • @roguefactionMX2012 I agree with you about American English and the same applies to Mexican Spanish in terms of that they are adapted to their respective cultures. The fact remains that they are versions of the ORIGINAL languages. They are "inferior" only in the sense that they are not the "original". I am am half Mexican btw, so no bias here!

  • the title is offensive! why even question it!!

  • Im latino (Dominican), Just completed my BBA in Int'l Business. I agree, my parents were very reluctant to get into debt, but we knew that was the only way to pay for school, and we did.

  • "Mexican-Americans like to go to night school, and get a B" --cheech and chong

  • I kinda agree but I think their is sort of a shift that is taking place in this country just watch the movie WHITE MANS BURDEN and you would see what I'm talking about.more African Americans are moving to the upper class and the economic shift is changing I think that Mexicans (not the ones who have been here as long) are where blacks were 20 or 30 years ago but they could come up to because of this modernized class model. The middle class is different from that of 30 to 40 years ago.

  • @roguefactionMX2012 actually Mexicans speak terrible Spanish because they don't speak the same Spanish that people from Spain speak. They speak the Mexican version that is derived from proper Spanish. Kind of like saying Americans speak great English. Most people from England would disagree!

  • @TruthIsSin actually the spanish from spain, grammar wise is excellent but the theres too much of an accent therefore not every word is pronounced correctly. if you ask an experienced spanish teacher he or she will tell you that the most grammatically and well spoken spanish is colombian (most international spanish news reporters are colombian btw)

  • @cristian616 The language originated in SPAIN! It makes no sense to say the Columbians pronounce the language better! Accent is a regional issue and there are many variations, even in Spain. If you like the Colombian accent better, that's great, but it doesn't make it "correct".

  • @TruthIsSin colombian has very little accent and the one from argentina sounds a whole lot cooler. is that why the majority of the news reporters of cnn in spanish are colombian? is that why if you type best spanish spoken in the world on google, colombia always comes up first?

  • @cristian616 That makes no sense but...good luck to you friend!

  • @cristian616 Somehow, I have only ever heard my Colombian friends make this claim... Actually, Spanish pronunciation is much more effective than most latin american countries precisely BECAUSE of the differentiation of the C/Z sound to the S sound, which saves A LOT of confusion as far as homophones go. Note this is being said by a NON-SPANIARD (before you bring any nationalism to it). That being said, of course news reporters pronounce nice & crisp, but that's not how average colombians speak

  • @merrrlo are you kidding, yes most of them do and yes only the europeans can really tell the difference between a "z" and "c" or a "v" and "b" but it is because they add like an extra "ff" sound to the word but it only throws people off when you're writing it but not when speaking it.

  • @cristian616 Wait, what? That made absolutely no sense whatsoever. And no, Colombians don't speak like news reporters. No, I am not kidding, and yes I know what I'm talking about.

  • As a son of a Nigerian immigrant, I can definitely say that foreigners stress education like crazy (good crazy, of course).

In every conversation that I have had with my parents about what I do after high school, not a single one involved me not going to a university.

I am constantly told that I have to excel beyond what is considered exceptional for Caucasian students because I am African, and my skin color will make life more difficult at times. I hate this reality, but love that it pushes me.

  • Hey Young Turks, i live in Texas and I'm not sure on the different laws from us and yall, but i went to an alright school, but our school was also giving money to other districts and such. Do yall not do that there?

  • My take on this?

From my observation, Latino people tend to have a little bit too many kids. That brings unnecessary burden to the family's financial situation and thinner opportunity for their kids going to the college. No offense but sometimes less population DOES equal to better life quality

  • @lhbchen As a Latino myself, you sadly have a point. The ONLY reason I'm able to afford my school is due to my scholarships. I realize this is far from the norm.

  • @lhbchen I doubt the number of kids is a quality passed on through genealogical lineage. Nor does culture play a role in this matter.

Poverty however is a common factor for having a lot of children, and I would guess that a lot of the immigrants coming to America is generally less fortunate than the part of the population all ready well established.

The problem with work however is not based on a pseudo maxim of the population, but rather on market's commitment and intuitively.

  • @lhbchen

Ya you probally think World Government is a good thing

  • @lhbchen yeah you right!! but NO LATINOS have no babyes....instead have hamsters,,,,,dogs,,,cats,,,snakes...etc,,,so in the future there will be ONLY LATINOS IN THIS COUNTRY!!!

  • what i dont understand is that cenk brazenly addresses this issue, but why doesnt he address the same problems going on with black culture, there are startling statistics about the low rate of black fathers and high rate of imprisonment, it is a huge problem among black people and is much bigger than this issue, obviously its not a race issue as there are plenty of non criminal black people and strong black families, but its a cultural thing that should be adressed

  • I knew a old school Hispanic family who wouldn't sign for a loan for their two daughters they dint even let them go to community college they said it was not a real school so just go to work they both got kids and a husband now they're like 23 and 24 one of them was really smart went to school with them all AP classes i remember.

  • @Tony007corp This makes me sad. But I do see it all the time

  • My non-Asian immigrant parents had the "of course you're going to college, the question is, are you going to Harvard" mentality.

  • All people want to get a better education but the fact is that schools are Ultra bad these days.

  • Cenk was way too apologist, come on, we get it already.

  • "How Much Do Latinos Value Education?" my observations have lead me to a complex and rational answer...

"Not very much" After all, there's nothing 'illegal' about breaking the law, they even make excuses for those who do. The young turds know of this all to well. Right guys?

    The end.

  • 14 black niqqers dislike

  • @antonioisqay1 lol The fact that you used that stupid puerile joke on such a topic is an indication how dumb you are. Then you go and throw the "n" word in there....

Maybe you should step into the real world (i.e. off of your farm) for once in a while, and get some better perspective. Maybe then you can write something containing some semblance of intelligence.

  • I know that Cenk can't say as much from experience as I can, but he should've also acknowledged that the Asian mentality to college is also of an extreme. If the Latino mentality is to one extreme (job is first, school second), then the Asian mentality is to the other extreme. And it's not automatically good nor does it work out that all Asians become instant success stories as Cenk implies. Social adeptness, self-independence, and creativity often lack as a result, for example.

  • Comment removed

  • @PrUnEJuIcEtHeThIrD

What an ignorant and unclassy comment. "Social adeptness, self-independence, and creativity often lack as a result, for example." Being a member of the Asian community, I often find that Asians are the most creative, kind and responsible people. Don't confuse social-ineptness w/ their tendency to keep to their culture and not mainstream culture. Don't confuse lack of independence w/ having a strong family obligation. And don't confuse lack of creativity w/ inteligence.

  • @CraZyAzNdReaMeR Lol I really wasn't trying to suggest that Asian culture wasn't perfect. I wouldn't dare suggest any negatives. Sorry, I'll stop the sarcasm and go to the point.

The point is there ARE negatives to Asian parents pounding the gravel on grades/test scores from literally the day you enter 1st grade. Or forcing a kid to excel at a hobby. Or being hypocritical about a kid's social life.

There are positives, just as there are negatives. Just speaking from my experience.

  • @PrUnEJuIcEtHeThIrD

Your sarcasm is unnecessary and ineffective. Where in my comment did I mention perfection? Or lack of negatives? Where? All I was addressing was the one specific part of your post.

  • @CraZyAzNdReaMeR Oh sorry my bad.

In your response you simply put my list of potential negative results into a positive light. And that's fine. It doesn't mean my points were ignorant tho as you imply.

Call me cynical, but the only reason I responded to this video was to point out some not-so-great features of the Asian take on education. Cenk already summarized why Asian parents' strong motivation towards education is great. If pointing out potential negatives makes me the bad guy, my bad.

  • @PrUnEJuIcEtHeThIrD

No, I don't mind that at all. What I do mind is your using bias as fact. That is ignorance, my friend.

  • @CraZyAzNdReaMeR Bias as fact? If what I said was fact I don't think we'd be arguing right now lol. I'm speaking totally from personal opinion/experience. I'm just giving my opinion, in the form of what I feel are the negatives of the "Asian" approach to education.

  • @motionedout, religion is not a form of education. Quite the opposite, actually. Those of us who avoid religion are in favor of scientific study, not myth and folklore. Which do you think is more useful in life, legitimate knowledge or fiction being treated as such?

  • @mochalex whats the difference? Religion is just information through faith. Lots of things they get wrong and some they get right. Its about instinct.

Science is about cold hard facts....sometimes. Who's to say a priest is less educated than a psychologist?

  • the media always says we are gang members lolol our parents are mostly very strict, we <3 School :D

  • Going to College or University would be easier, if they were free. PERIOD!!!

  • Mexican Americans love education so they go to night school

and they take Spanish and get a B.

    -Cheech Marin

  • Family responsabilities means taking care of parents, brothers, and sisters. Hispanic kids have a different mind about family, they don't send elders to nursing homes; ironically like Cenk said they think like in the 50s americans in which the elders kept their homes and the whole family came on sundays, hispanics do it reversed cause of incomes but have much more respect for their families and see themselves as providers for their elders, mothers and sisters/brothers when their fathers leave.

  • Why does TYT and liberals always talk about race. When you do that you put people in groups(black, white, men, women, gay, straight) and you only perpetuate racism that way. When you think of people as individuals and not groups, racism will end. Consciously they might think they arent racists, but subconsciously they probably are.

  • why is this a topic?

  • @potsmokey mexicans are terrible spanish speakers. ask any south-american

  • And no doubt "family responsibilities" is code for popped out a baby.

  • why do americans always talk about race , geez

  • @Floralin cause it matters....

  • @Floralin the name of this video alone annoyed me, else I wouldn't have even watched it. Everyone that's not retarded wants education. It doesn't matter where someone's from. (I agree with you)

  • @Floralin Because it's a huge issue here.

  • @Floralin not only in america

  • @Floralin

Because America is made up of all kinds of races, good sir. Because this is a land where you can't pinpoint a person and call them "American" based solely on the color of their skin, the shape of their eyes, the customs of their culture or their belief system. Mexicans are from Mexico, Japanese from Japan and Australians are from Australia...but Americans are in a huge mixing pot called America. Americans are from all different races, señor... or señorita.

  • @joseEchavez oh well my question is purely rhetorical. Of course i understand that one of the best ways to identify the roots of social issues in the US is by breaking down the population into its different communities and study issues specific to each community.

"Australians are from Australia "..thanks that explains a lot .I didn't know that .

  • @ThePrimal1994 i am, and im currently debated if i should get a loan... so cenk is very correct in this piece...

  • Well, I'm Mexican, and I'm pretty much about to finish my career in Architecture, so...

  • You can't make a judgement off 10 people my school was around 90 present Latino, and I have to say the poll is about right.

  • in my opinion it all comes down to the parents and expectations.. now im not speaking for all latinos because im not one but they way i grew up it seems like they dont care about education. They seem to care about girls and gangs more than education.

  • @bobo9426 im not latino either but i did lived in mexico for a year when i was growing up/ And acutally they do value school a lot. The reason why they get sterotyped (lations) is because the lower class are the people that come to america. And well parents that dont have education are the ones that dont really value education as the ones that did get a degree.

  • nooo you are soo wrong.. at my highschool most lations slack off during class.. i have classes with like 10 lations and only 2 cared about their grade.. so its more like 20% of latinos care.

  • @traxxasslash26 you make no sense. more like 20 percent? ha your a fucking idiot

  • @eperez660 you make no sense... really i said there were 10 meixcans in most of my Highschool classes, and only 2 of them really valued their education.. so that means 20% of mexicans do care instead or the 80-something percent that mexicans do..

  • I agree with the social-economic based affirmative-action and I think the best solution to solve this problem is to end De-Facto segregation. End the policy that you can't go to a school because you live on "that" part of the county or town. Allow a student to go to whatever they want, if the parents are willing to pay more for it (A huge negative, but needed to have a great school) and stop worrying about which neighbor they come from. That will solve most issues IMHO

  • I just had to find a pace that was good for me, along with something that I liked doing. Take that as you want it, I'm a latino from Nyc

  • I'm going to go out there and say, my elementary school was separated by race, my jr hs no longer exists due to lack of discipline and my hs... well many of my graduating class doesn't have an associates yet. I am starting college now I'm 20. I've withdrew a bunch of times before but it's mainly just I didn't know what I wanted to do. School for me was mainly know when to go, and you will pass, despite my test grades or hw i gave in. Aside from that my future was hardly discussed and...

  • Ok I came from a high school in ca where I couldn't take my books home, I got around a 3.2 gpa and now I'm at Missouri state getting around a 3.6. The kids that did great at my high school (4.0) all had to drop out of colleges because the work was too hard I guess. Anyways he said the kid from a poorer school with a better gpa should get into a better college, but did you consider that poorer schools have lower quality teachers. I passed all my classes with showing up 1/3 of the time with doin

  • ahahahahhaahah....omg he sounded like my azn mom..."bachelors??? I disown u...min masters or MD"

    =_=;;

  • THE NEXT BUBBLE WILL BURST IS COLLEGE

  • @potsmokey

lmfao I lived in America my whole life and I actually had to be in 2 Esl(English as a second language) class w/ all spansih kids and they were amazed that I was in those classes and so was I. Moral of the story is they will be beating us very soon once they become majority in all schools. Which little white kids ages 10-15 be aware will happen to you before age 30. You will look around and say where exactly am I at again? This has happened to me since the 80s in my old neighborhood

  • Cenk is right. This -is- a cultural thing. We have the same culture here in Malta.

  • i thought we were a color blind society. I respect anyone who works hard

  • I'm Mexican and its true that a lot of people don't value education. I have a lot of friends that either are working or going to a community college when they could go to a 4 year university. I know that a lot of their parents don't emphasize education and are fine with them working.

Our community needs to get educated and get politically active because change isn't going to be handed to us.

  • I wish the fear of getting in debt was a global thing and people of all races could obtain education without getting in debt.

  • Dumbass Young Turds think "Latino" is a race. LMAOOO I guess that means Caucasians in the North are a different race than Caucasians in the South. Australians would be a different race than the Irish? Koreans would be a different race than Japanese? Do the Young Turds think there's 900 races? BWAAAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @TreyLutrash Never heard of ethnic groups before huh?

  • @BeerMan5000 Beer try to find the separate DNA structure for your "ethnic group" .... Huh?

  • education in US is great, u learn about global warming!!

  • Hey Cenk why don't you just blame Bush and the GOP for the latinos not getting an education?

  • @Bellita1 WHy do you ignorant conservanuts always say that. liberals the crappy GOP on everything.

  • @captcrais101

Why can't you type coherent sentances? I say it because it is true.

  • @Bellita1 You say it because you hear that line from Fox all the time. It is drilled in your head.

  • @captcrais101

No I don't watch Fox. But I hear it everyday from Pelosi, Reed, and NObama on NBC, CBS, ABC, BBC, NPR, and every print media publication.

  • @Bellita1 WHat you are hearing is the two party illusion. To be honest both parties are responsible for the problems we have. Both parties are corrupt. Both are corporate owned. Both parties don't give a dam about the american people. With few exceptions like Ron Paul with republicans and people like Dennis K, and Alan Grayson in the democrats.

  • I am a Mexican American with an MBA and I am an anomaly.

  • I hate that you had that impression originally, where did that come from?

  • Asians don't value education.

  • @woodyfly Is that why everything is made in China?

  • Have they put Ana in the sound room because she isn't showing enough cleavage?

  • i just hate this jew of this fucking channel .....

  • As a Mexican I can tell you that there is no such thing as a Latino educated class in California. For every Mexican I meet who has a master's, I probably meet 10 Mexicans who have a grammar school education. A while ago I was looking up U.N. stats on education, and according to them, only 27% of high school age Mexicans(in Mexico) were in high school. The problem runs deep.

    Viva la revolucion!

    Viva Fidel!

Abajo la hegemonia anglosajona en nuestro continente y en el mundo entero!

  • I think mostly all Latino-Americans(Latinos that are born here) see the big picture.(Go to college, make more money) I believe they all know that. Now the problem is, not all Latino parents think like, lets say American parents; they collect money to ensure their children go to a prestige college. While Latino parents earn just enough to support the family. They don't make enough to ensure that their kids will go to college. Overall economic reasons is # 1 factor. #2 is beating the odds.

  • @Speedyz6 Aint this the truth :) Im not latino Im black but really most reason for most ethnic groups not attending or caring about college is money wise. I care about college and plan to attend but the money fam makes just seems like It will be a long time coming.

  • simple answer to this: do we care about our education? YES!! but do you or your parents have the money? NO!!

  • hey man!

    watch your mouth

In Mexico there people who have dreams of coming to America

to have a Car a family a job

and they know they have Better opportunities of having a Job and career and all that in this country

but the bad thing is that we as mexicans we wanna fix our social so we can have a better job

    its not easy

  • I'm mexican & my school was only good in sports but everything sucks.

  • B.S. Mexicans are not lazy. They work their asses off. On the other hand, Puerto Ricans...

  • @DSAhmed what do u mean in other hands

  • hey since everyone hates blacks lets kill em all then, there dumb, ugly, stupid, and are a endogenous species...press 1 if u agree,or 2 for disagree

  • man fuck ur aducation and fuck u to LOL

  • @ 7:26 GO ASIANS! Also, go to college for a meaningful career! At least know what industry and what career path you want to pursue. This is coming from a recent college grad. Screw worthless degrees that hurt you in the long run.

  • In these days, tuition has increased. Federal assistance is shrinking, along with other necessities. Good luck to all cultures who are pursuing a higher level of education.

  • College degrees are overrated. If you want to learn, pick up a textbook. Save yourself thousands of dollars. Most college professors teach straight from the textbook anyways.

  • @Ramshobraja Good luck with that resume though.

  • @Ramshobraja Professors teach from textbooks after they get a degree FROM COLLEGE!!!!!!!

  • im asian and my father was disappointed because i chose Queens College. his reason was because it wasn't a university. that's how serious it was

  • i'm canadian and bilingual (french)....i took spanish classes in high school. the easy credits. why the hell not? french, spanish and protugese....easy creds, mate. the fact that i'm bilingual SHOULD earn me an easy credit. why would i be at par with somebody who can't even speak his one and only language properly?

  • Its cuz we lack money Cenk.

  • My folks told me I had no choice....I WAS going to go to college. I worked my way through. Then I went to grad school and got my doctorate. Now I work part time (by choice) and still clear over $100K/year. My wife has her Master's Degree and she also clears about $100K/year. Go to school kids!

  • Debt is a HUGE reason mexicans are afraid of college. I'm just starting college, and the reason I'm not living at the university is to avoid debt. I don't want it.

I think more universities should do what tyhe University of Washington is doing with the huskie promise. Basically, if your family was poor, you're guaranteed to get enough grants to pay for tuition.

You're not guaranteed money for books(although I receive enough), or dorms, but it is a GREAT deal.

  • @PyreOfFate lol

  • From a white guy I completely disagree with the Mexican stereotype of laziness and would argue they work harder than whites but thats not the issue. I have noticed how excelling in school is looked down upon in the latino and black culture which is really sad.

  • There's good debt and bad debt and I view my college debt as the best investment I ever made.

  • What is sad is that the dumb war in iraq -that should have never started- is taking away the tax money for the better of the education and to help the economy.

  • "Getting in debt is a bad idea." Actually really great advise.

  • @Phelan666 Too bad the government doesn't follow it.

  • My college did it's own study a while back and this sadly reflected with the AP results. Latinos had the highest or 2nd highest drop out rate and the overwhelming response for why was either work or family responsibilities as well.

  • @s16loco my parent's are the same way, i got a B- and my parents almost disowned me (yes i'm latino)

  • Its called confusing aspirations with abilities.
