Old video I know. Just picked up a Becker BK11 ($25 off eBay NEW). I added jimping to a couple knives and need to do this one, too. How come you haven't tested the BK11?
yeah its definately just a lemon. my pika locks up solid, the deployment was a little slow when i first got it but it is very slick now. for the price the pika ll pretty much rocks.
hey I broke my knife, it's just like that. like when you flip it out, it doesn't lock the blade so I have to hold it down and that's not very safe. How do I get it to lock when there is no lock at all?
I'm not sure how your modification improved the knife. In fact, the existing hole and the taper of the cutting edge both weaken the blade laterally already. Then you removed metal from the only remaining full width section of the blade right in that already weakened area. Don't use it to pry anything sideways, it won't take much to brake it.
If someone realy felt the need to put grooves where you did, it would be best to use a small rat tail file and not go very deep.
My comment was not intended to offend, & I apologise for upsetting you. You are loyal to your friend and I consider that a great virtue. The human personal points however, do not alter the realities of engineering principles. The fact remains that less material usually means less strength. That is not true in every situation, but it is in this one. Please explain how the blade has not been weakened.
as soon as he said he messed with the jimping, i thought, with that hole there, it definately weakend its preformance, and if you cant understand that (not you, but others) you prolly need to go back to high school!
Another great and helpful vid. Modifying a tool to suit your needs is much better than tossing it and trying to find something more suitable to pay for. Thanks.
Slick mod bro. Benchmade needs to put in some work with the Red Class. Blue Class rules. The Red Class leaves much to be desired when compared to other similarly priced knives. Have you seen the Chad Los Banos knives from Boker? They rule. Peace.
after you "chipped" the blade out cutting tree branches; i returned two benchmades the shoki (cheap immatation of William Henry) and a pardue (just not trusting it) I think I'm all done with benchmade knives.

nutnfancy, u must have gotten a factory lemon, cause no one else who made a review had a lock protrusion problem, or as much wiggle in the blade

Yeah, mines almost flawless aside from the pocket clip strength.

i had 0 blade play and everything was flush, it was pretty easy to open, and the jimping was ok
crazykar3 2 years ago
I used this same technique to improve the pathetic jimping on the ka-bar tdi last ditch knife. (The little one).

To avoid this problem check out the original Pika knife. I have a full review showing the much deeper and functional jimping.
Nutn A+ as usual!
