@thatsucks23 Yes I am Icelandic. I am born in Iceland of Icelandic parents. I live in Iceland and have most of my life. I lived in Montreal for about a year in 2004-2005 and would do standup in Montreal and Ottawa. I came back to Montreal on vacation in 2006, took a trip to Ottawa to do standup and that is when the video was shot.
I realize in Canada and the US a lot of people will say they are Polish/Italian/Irish/Icelandic or whatever when they are actually 2nd, 3rd or even 4th+ generation
@thatsucks23 Þeir sem efast um að ég sé Íslendingur geta bara horft á videoið mitt "Bar sem heitir Kunta" Linkurinn á youtube er: /watch?v=nEuaNWFEmuw
Engl: Anyone who doesn´t believe I´m Icelandic can watch me speaking Icelandic in a video of mine called "Bar sem heitir Kunta" The youtbube link is: /watch?v=nEuaNWFEmuw
If you mean standup comedians I´d say George Carlin and Sugar Sammy and David Pryde from Montreal. I actually haven´t spent all that much time watching the big name standup comedians so I may have missed out on a lot of comics who I would have loved to watch. Most of the standup comedy I´ve watched was live in Montreal and Ottawa.
When I began doing standup in 2003 I had hardly watched any at all. I had this thing where I didn´t want to, so I wouldn´t copy anything.
@spilota1111 As for youtube comedians I really like Brian Keith Dalton who runs a youtbue show called Mr.Deity. I also enjoy watching a youtube comedian/opinionist called TheAmazingAtheist. Another show on youtube that I find funny is Red vs Blue, which is based on graphics from the Halo game.
Dude, that´s pretty much what we standup comedians do. We do the same routine night after night and sharpen it.
Maybe it is kind of pointless of me to have many videos of me doing mostly the same routine on youtube though - but then again I don´t get what you are complaining about - why would you keep watching videos of me if you don´t like them?
Or in short, that´s why it´s called a "standup routine".
I did take down some of the videos though, cause there´s hardly much of a point in having numerous videos of pretty much the same routine here on youtube.
ya, but its a clan with the smallest budget... 0.00 dollars, lol, free website, free forums, i only got 5 members on forums...yet i am starting to get recognized i had 9 ppl on at one time and the most over a 24 hour period is 19
The story with the gay guys in Montreal actually happened, at a kareoke bar called Club date. The story´s only slightly modified in my act.
It´s actually written "oui, oui, GAY!" in French, but French spelling is pretty strange to non-Frankophones. I learned later I´m supposed to say "Je ne suis pas gay" (which is, to a non French person, also pronounced completely different from how it´s written) to get out of a situation like this - but I didn´t know this at the time.
ya.. you lost me... mostly when you sead"I learned later I´m supposed to say "Je ne suis pas gay" (which is, to a non French person, also pronounced completely different from how it´s written) to get out of a situation like this - but I didn´t know this at the time."
"Je ne suis pas gay" = "I´m not gay" so that´s the phrase to get out of the situation basically. But at the time of the event I didn´t know enough French to know that phrase.
Ugh. I hate Icelandic accent. I've worked on eliminating all traces of it out of my English speech. Now when I speak to Americans, they end up guessing which state I'm from.
I kind of agree. It sounds silly. I try to eliminate most of my accent from my American English, but American English is not natural for me. I don´t really get it right unless I´m perhaps immitating a specific person, so I still have some Icelandic accent there. To me I have an easier time adapting to a British English accent actually.
You should hear a person with a completely Icelandic accent speak English though, it´s much more pronounced then when I ever speak English.
I don't know why, but it seems to be easy for me to modify my accent. I spoke with a British accent after living in London for two years but I'm married to American so my accent faced over to that. Once when participated in a gypsy wedding my accent became notably Irish at the end of the night.
But yeah... I know how ICELANDIC accent sounds like. Just listen to almost any Icelander over 60 speaking English.
Well I for one think it´s good that English is the "international" language, because it´s the simplest and easiest of the western languages, whereas say, Icelandic and German are very complex and much harder to learn.
You can like or dislike whatever accents you like though, that is just a matter of taste and there are of course many different accents in English. You might like the Oxford one for example and dislike "the American" (although there are many American accents of course).
Well Norwegian and Icelandic is the easiest language to learn if you speak english cus that is what English is. A broken Germanic language mixed with a ton of Latin.
Not true. Icelandic is ridiculously hard to learn for a Western language. It has the most complex grammar and is very irregular. Most people who move to Iceland have a hard time learning the language.
Native English speakers usually have a much harder time than Germans, because English grammar is less complex than German grammar.
Norwegian, Swedish and Danish are all much less complex than Icelandic.
We're not that much relative.....Are we?

this is an Island accent?? It is not strong at all. well I have never really heard Icelandic people speak.
gamrkidd 3 years ago
No mine is not that strong. You should listen to old interviews with Björk if you want to hear a really strong Icelandic accent.
Search for "björk talking about her TV" here on youtube for example.

I like your stuff, however, If Icelandic women all look like Gweneth Paltrow, (an English woman) then why do you have to cover your eyes?

Gwyneth Paltrow is American actually - although of course again, you couldn´t really ride the wave with her either - so I´m still in the wrong.
