I Worked at Swift and Company in Lousville KY. I was a maintenance tech so i worked on all equipment in the facility. THESE ANIMALS ARE NOT KILLED BY THE SHOCK. this is all lies. the shocking is a cheap way to incapacitate the animal it does not kill them. Thats why they have a guy that slits their throat while they are upside down in hockey gear and helmet so they dont get hurt. .

Having worked in a meat dept. at my local grocery store as a high school student, I guess I take for granted that the meat is already dead and partially processed by the time it gets to me. @IAA015 Um..no we don't. Some I suppose but personally I quit drinking milk long before I gave up meat. Just seemed weird...the whole blood and bacteria cocktail thing. Rice and Almond milk are great, have the same effect in food. If you really think about it. Its a rather odd substance.

@Snackay If we didn't eat them then why would we feed them or care for them, or keep them safe from the other animals that eat them? The whole reason why all the livestock in the world is as safe and well fed/fucked as they are now, is because they do a job by us eating them. They're not small enough, smart enough, or well behaved enough to live among human society, and any efforts to make them so would be inhumane. They pay for the luxuries in their lives, after their lives are over.

@IAA015 Um..no we don't. Some I suppose but personally I quit drinking milk long before I gave up meat. Just seemed weird...the whole blood and bacteria cocktail thing. Rice and Almond milk are great, have the same effect in food. If you really think about it. Its a rather odd substance.

I've done this before. They don't feel anything. Once they get zapped they don't feel anything and they aren't aware of anything, so immediately after zapping them you cut their jugular. Well...the piggy equivalent of a jugular. They just never wake up.
Not that I'm so concerned about the pain pigs feel, but animals who live happy, stress-free lives in clean pens and die painless deaths taste better.
If you don't like meat, don't eat it. More meat for me and the other meat-eaters.

Incredibly predictable. Simple educational video about humane slaughter techniques, and the veggies have to come in and start blasting their propaganda every which way.
Now a vegetarian diet, in and of itself, is just fine. Eat what you want, or what your doctor tells you (preferably in the reverse order of priority), but for gods sake dont turn it into a religion, and dont preach your damn gospel to the world.

@gieibi No. It wouldn't. Animals, including humans, aren't going to stop eating other animals any time soon. Vegetarianism is not a feasible universal solution to feed the world on economic, agricultural, cultural, and many other levels. Even if you could convince every last person to ignore their instinctive cravings for meat, you simply could not feed 7 billion people on tempeh and spinach.

@gieibi Eating meat isn't something we're taught by our parents. If it weren't an instinct to eat meat, nobody would do it. Vegetarianism and veganism are personal preferences based on either individual taste or religious or ethical philosophies. Asking an entire species to stop eating other animals like it has during its millions of years of evolution is like asking them to stop mating. Why not put all other wild predators in zoos and feed them grain so no animals on earth get eaten?
