i'm happy there's people that actually care about the little creatures that sometimes show up at home. i think it is a very useful guide and i really appreciate that you try to teach people how not to harm the bats while trying to make them leave the house.
@TadaKiba Its left wing was badly ripped when I found it in my basement, but it was active and not bleeding. I could only guess as to how it happened.
@TadaKiba The bat was too badly hurt to survive and it could not fly even off an elevation, otherwise we could have taken it to a rescue shelter. You'll see a link to a website at the end of the video. We gave it a nook in an unused brick structure in my backyard. We found it later dead, as expected.
@abudietrich Aren't there places where they care for animals that can't survive in the wild? My zoo has an ostrich with a broken jaw, Is this situation more sever than that.
@TadaKiba Maybe you have a point. The zoo near me actually keeps a bald eagle that is somehow damaged. As for the ostrich's jaw, I wonder if it can eat on its own or if they have to feed it.
@abudietrich I believe it can eat certain things on it's own, but they where never able to fix her jaw, She chatters a lot, and it flip flops around and creeps me out.
Once I was riding my bicycle (many years ago) and had a bat flew in and got stuck to my chest. It was almost dark but I stayed calm and the bat eventually flew away. Just wanted to share my momentary phase of batman. lol
I'm wondering, would there be an option of taking the injured bat to an animal shelter?
@sadgreen In general, yes. I think I left a link in an annotation at the end of the video that helps with contacting such resources. This particular bat didn't seem at all savable to me since its wing was badly ripped up. What's interesting is that since this video another bad came in and flew around. I was able to get it on the ground and then it flew up right off the ground even though people say they have to take off from an elevation. I did get it on another try and released it successfully.
once a bat lands it cannot fly like a bird off the ground, since walls are smooth they cannot climb up, so it should be very easy to catch, but if it is flying good luck
