The school district in which I teach (I'm a computer teacher) began enforcing a new policy this school year regarding subs and computers. No substitute is allowed on a computer or to oversee students on computers (not even full-time subs). The policy completely hinders my class because it would make sense for the students to AT LEAST practice keyboarding skills when i'm gone...since that's a huge ongoing part of my curriculum. It's frustrating to me.

wtf? there is no excuse in this day and age for being completely computer illiterate. ESPECIALLY for someone with the title "teacher." if she was teaching a class in animal husbandry or blacksmithing or something, then i could understand. but other than that, if you can't use a computer, you shouldn't be allowed to call yourself a teacher.

It sounds as though the substitute teacher was used as a scapegoat. Whoever was in charge of the computers should have installed anti-spyware, and their failure to do so is what convinces me that the substitute teacher was free from reasonable blame.
This is the most asinine and bizarre thing that I've ever heard. So they're going to ruin a substitute teacher's life over something as silly as this? I'll bet if the images were of a violent nature -- like killing -- there would have never even been a prosecution. But because the content was sexual, oh now, well that's a big bad deal. It's time for the adults in this Country to start growing up. You can't ever completely "shield" children from sex. That's a fact of life.
yeah, why is it so bad for kids to see sex, and perfectly appropriate to see peoples lifes getting taken (like in saw 3). even in rated g movies, there is death/violence sometimes (like in lion king). if anything it should be violence blocked on the net.
