The entire democratic debate from 6/5 is available on CNN website. I just watched the whole thing- it was very interesting & informative. Obama shined as usual.
Why do white people completely ignore the fact that Barack Obama is mixed meaning he's 50 percent black and 50% white!! Derek Jeter is mixed 50 percent white and black but you guys call him "white" WTF! that doesn't make sense. Think about this when it's your time to vote! He's the smartest politician EVER! hands down. My god JFK's speechwriter and the Kennedy family is voting for Obama. Let's make the right choice next year! Obama 08!
You can always ask a question that's intended to split the person into one group or another. The point is that most of these questions oversimplify complex issues for the sake of dividing people.
I from germany...but i am really interested in your election 08.and i really hope that obama will be the next u.s. president, and i also fear that this will be just a dream... :(
Obama is correct, the type of questions asked are those used by the Republicans of Rove type, designed to make issues out of non-issues. We as a nation need to get away from this foul stench of Rove spin and character assasination.
I couldn't help but think the questions at the debate insincere to the point of dishonesty. The way they jumped from candidate to candidate with drastically different questions (both in degree of difficulty to answer concisely) was bad in itself, but questions like "Should English be the national language"? BY A SHOW OF HANDS no less ....CMON! I'd really like to see specific questions about legislation that has either been proposed/voted on or is upcoming. Accountability..details..
Watch the debate. Obama made a great point - yet another solid reason for putting this candidate into the White House in 2008. He should win, no questions about it.
Give Micfri a break, Deanna. ;) I'm sure Micfri just isn't quite as crazy about presidential politics as you and I. BTW, I recognize you from Dkos and Barackobama=com, my handle at dkos is terrapinstation84, so maybe you recognize me to? Anyway, I think we should encourage Micfri to get involved with this sort of stuff, rather than admonish him.
At least s/he is here, right? And besides, not everyone[especially those of us who are poor and don't have cable and must work all of the time, like me] is able to watcht he debates. I wouldn't have been able to watch them myself if my friend didn't have Tivo, b/c I was working that night at a restaurant.
ps. 2 many words had to break this into 2 messages.
Dee, sorry we can't spend 24/7 glued to the set for debates and news coverage of the campaign. We have this thing that gets in the way called, um, Living our Lives!
Agree- I liked how Hillary refused to respond to the hypotheticals. They do not provide true insight to the future actions of the candidates, they simply distract us from the things that are real & need to be addressed right NOW.
To the question on whether English should be the official language in America, Obama said "These are the kind of questions that are designed to divide us". That drew huge applause from the audience. Analysts and viewers say that response emphasized Obama as a uniter. Viewers rated Obama as WINNER of the debate, snappiest dresser, best comeback, etc. You can watch the full debate and scorecard on cnn website (ELECTION/2008)
Barack Obama is right on this official language business. Lets do the work of the people and stop with these nonsense "issues" like flag burning and offical language. Barack Obama is about a new kind of politics and he backed it up last night at the debate.
He said this is the type of question that waists time when there are more important things to be talked about especially when most immigrants end up learning English anyway and the only thing really in question is if the government offers services in more languages then just English

That would balance the ticket quite well. Frankly, Obama is still too liberal (in the American sense).
