  • Too bad you haven't found a screen recorder yet though...

  • Ubuntu is a piece of cake to install now, and for people who are thinking of installing Steam onto Ubuntu OS:

There are reports saying that it runs rather sluggish, so be warned. My recommendation (what I am doing too) is waiting for the official release of Steam for Linux, (Which was announced back in 2010)

Luckly, I have a Linux laptop in the household, and shall try using WINE to run Steam, if it works, I will let you all know, and if its sluggish or not.

Thumbs up so people can see :)

  • Despues lo pruebo che, si me anda sos dios

  • @llDiamondRopell por lo menos a mi, es completamente jugable, pero no tiene el rendimiento que tiene en win

    Mis características de PC son:

Dual Core Intel Pentium Inside 2.7 GHz

    2 Gb RAM

    Nvidia GT 220

Lo corro casi al mínimo de requerimientos porque prefiero rendimiento antes que gráficos =P

  • I cant believe this has more likes than dislikes....

  • People who keep hating on macs are just too poor to afford macs. ;D Which is why they gotta use a free operating system on a 300 dollar computer. :3

  • linux is amazing windows is amazing and macs are an overpriced piece of shit. Real users dual boot Ubuntu and windows for maximum win.

  • @IntelgratedShiznit you can make it all easyer 1.install ubuntu 2. go to playonlinux (.) com then download +install instructions are all there then run it and click on install search in games for teamfortress 2 and follow all the instructions there voila

  • HEY how do you do this in windows? can you check your tf2 shortcut properties and look at the command, copy it and tell me ... I NEED HELP

  • @cqajagsaw windows??

  • Yeah, and now make a video playing tf2 on a Nvidia 6800LE graphic card

  • How did you get the sound working?

  • can linux use direct x 10 games?

  • Better than playing on a mac!

  • do you get some extra performance running game on ubuntu?

  • the graphics are shitty

  • What settings are you using? Is everything maxed out? On my computer, I have to turn all of the settings to low and disable Compiz, and then I can play with 15-20, and sometimes 30 fps.

  • @josephschwenker can play all on high still getting 56 fps due to multi core rendering

  • @dimaaah I'm still getting awful performance.

  • @josephschwenker what about trying these things in the preferences by right clicking tf2 -> properties -> launch options : -novid -h 1080 -w 1920 -windowed -noborder and maybe even -dxlevel 81

    -novid = no start up vid, -h 1080 =height, -w 1920 = width, -noborder = obvious, -dxlevel so youll use dx 81

  • @dimaaah Yep, tried that back when I used to try to get it working. Didn't work well either way.

  • hmmm -dxlevel 80 ????

  • I wanna see fps :S

  • Not our finesst moment! (spy voice)

  • This means you could play source mods and updated versions on PS3 with Linux!!!

  • thats a very nice idea!

  • No, because you cant use the ps3's graphics card on yellow dog, or any OS on ps3, but thats would be awesome :)

  • @IRETROGAMER Shit, thats right.

  • whoo yeah when you get that workin post a vid k?

  • no you cant sadly.

  • No it does not.

  • I bring good news to Linux gamers:

Valve have quietly been porting their Source engine and games to Linux. Steam will be running on Linux as well.

  • OMG! are u seriously? This is awsome!

  • Proof?

  • Nothing official from Valve at this stage, but have a look through articles in the "linux gamer" section at the Phoronix website. They've been keeping everyone posted on whats up and they are not speculating, they are dead certain based on insider tips that Valve have been porting the Source engine, the Steam client for Linux is at beta stage, and games. Also, for ages Valve have advertised on their website for an engineer who to "Port Windows-based games to the Linux platform".

  • @Keruaran I have a Mac (come at me bros) and the games I ported with Wine run a hell of a lot faster than the games I downloaded from the official Steam for Mac. You'd probably be better off using Wine.

  • It's about time the late comers finally realize that games can be played with Linux or even OSX. The thing is I am tired of these people saying the same quote over and over again it sounds like people are copy/pasting their shit. Unless you are a true Linux user and you stand by a certain oath to improve it for the world then let us know the things we don't.

  • yah most poeple think macs and lunix cant play games ...... welll geuss WHAT?! They can and just as good! ( most poeple make up things about mac and linux saying "they cant play games" or " most of the time, they wont do anything you wont them to." but those are lies made by losers windows uses to much memory and harddrive space for me.)

  • Its a tad harder to get linux and macs to run the games tho ;)

  • "Just as good"

    Oh lawdy

  • No one said that... Windows is the easiest, Linux is faster, but takes some BS to make it work. And Macs suck dick. (in every form of the sentence)

    thats all were saying. :)

  • lol go blue team

    24 - 9 what a way to win

  • i just go this game and it lags all the time. plz help

  • i don't get it. it's you playing the game. whats so great about it

  • It's on linux you dumbass...

showing that it can be done.

  • so what? who gives a shit!

  • And here we have solid proof that you must be a pure Windows user.

  • i refuse to be associated with an idiot like that.

  • Well I'm not a Linux fan but I respect and admire the people who makes all those free things hehehe... Crap I just realised my Video Card sucks and Need another one

  • nice uber effect

  • I actually just started using Linux when I made this video... I originally wasn't planing on putting it up here. I just made it to show someone that I was able to get it working... And as for the playing, I was trying to explain something to one of my friends and keep the camera from falling off the desk and trying to play at the same time... I'm not that good, but I'm usually not THAT bad lol

  • kgonepostl your a dick

  • "your"?Learn some english!

  • oh the truth stings does it not!!

  • some people say its impossible to play tf2 on ubuntu

  • do tell...

  • @Fosax some people are wrong :D

  • 'wow idk where theesae guys came from they just shown up???' -mac user

  • Very nice, thanks for posting

  • Nvidia 500GT, porr

  • 8500 AND POOR*

  • you have a 8500 and play it on low? I've got it and I play it on high at 1400 x1000

  • No , I have an 8600Gt

I'm just sayng that 8500 is very poor

  • i have the 8500 too

    i'm getting an 8800

  • OMG man 24 : 9 wtf??

  • if i were you i'd be pretty happy.. i get 9fps on lowest settings!

  • Specs please?

  • Sorry, but I have to ask. Have you installed you graphics card driver? Either by using the restricted drivers or by using Envy?

  • if ur playing at low settings and still getting low fps its because its your cpu. team fortress 2 is a cpu intensive game. Make sure u have all ur drivers installed. Also have you tried overclocking ur cpu?

  • I'm pretty new to Linux so I don't really know how to check what version of WINE I have, but I'm assuming I have the latest version... I have WINE set to Windows 2000 but I think I've also had it set to XP and it ran fine...

  • I install GTK-RecordMyDesktop and it works great, although, when I go to another workspace by rotating the cube(I'm using Copiz) it kinda glitches out... But besides that it works great, I'll definitely be using that to record stuff in the future. Thanks for the info =)

  • I just added my specs to the video info. Maybe there's something you could tweak in winecfg or in the launch properties of TF2 that would make it run smoother...

  • Cool, I'll check out GTK-RecordMyDesktop, I'm new to Linux so I didn't really know what to use. I tried Istanbul but that kept craping out on me...

  • Great!

Does Steam work properly on linux?

  • Yup, Steam works but you can't use the chat... which really isn't too bad...

  • You can. It's just a little glitchy. If you chat to someone, then close the chat window, then open it again you can see the chat.

  • Try using fraps or something instead of hand cam

  • I actually used the camera attachment for the PSP to record this video, that's why the quality sucks... I didn't really intend to put it up here.
