Well let's just say out of 112 tanks destined for Omaha Beach, only 2 really made it far up the shore. Higgins boats were very versatile because they were decently fast, the hull was flat so it could make for easy landing, and they made all the difference in the PTO. Hell, Eisenhower even said they made a big difference.
