I've always loved Lee Greenwood's original version of this song. But I actually like Jump 5's version better because Lee says "I'd thank my lucky stars" and Jump 5 says "I'd thank my God above" at 0:25. My dad served in Vietnam with the Marines, and in many ways this song moves me to tears. Happy fourth of July everyone! God bless the USA!

A few years ago, I was really upset because my dad wouldn't be home for my birthday. The same day, we went to a recently set up 9/11 memorial, and I read all those names. Then I put on my Jump5 cd on the way home and listened to this song, and just cried. I realized I was so selfish; so many kids wouldn't be able to have their parents home for any of their birthdays. Yeah, it scared me too, I was worried for those families that had a dad/mom, or wife/husband die in it. And to know that terrorists could get that far in the U.S. made me feel that it wasn't safe anymore, but since then, they have stopped other attacks.

I think this song is a great way to help numb all that happened to everyone.

I heard this song after the 9/11 attack. that was such a horrible day...and music is a helpful way to numb the pain and worry. i remember coming home and seeing the towers fall on TV. I dont remember ever being so scared.
