  • Great video thanks for posting this. I'm a musician & understand that emulating your musical hero's is a part of your early musical development. Norman Brown has been a very successful musician, who's obviously grown since this performance, developing a more original sound. Love this video, any idea what happened to the rest of the musicians?

  • I have to add...thank you DeTucciBill for this rare clip. I realise it was done when NB was very young and however many guitarists are influenced by either Wes or George Benson is a good thing. The ones who think different should try and get a successful career like Mr Brown's.

  • Man, there are some twisted, jealous people on here that need to get a life!

One says the audience looks ''bored''..well, it doesn't look that way to me judging from the applause.

Another fool says "he's a poor copy of Benson"..well , actually Wes Montgomery was the 1st and everyone including GB has copied him. Norman is no worse than Lee Ritenour, Wilbert Longmire, Jimmy Ponder,Chuck Loeb, Steve Laury. and many others.

So what if they want to copy George or Wes?

  • what is this song called?

  • nice porno music.

  • Some people obviously don't know talent...N.B. has been one of the most successful jazz artists out there for the last 20 years with a plethora of albums and grammys...and a fantastic show -

  • AAAAHH! look at my buddy norman.

  • look at the crowd they are all bored like me. This guy is only a good backup guitarist he is hopeless as a lead man - too boring and lacks dynamic of george benson.

  • this guys is as shit copy of benson. boring as hell

  • dammmnnnn my nigga is foin!!!!!

  • norm was one of my guitar teachers at GIT....he is one of my favorite players!! PLAY ON N.B.!!

  • He brought it back then, and he's still bringin it now!!! Go Norman!!!!!

  • He's definitely ripped a few pages out of the Benson Cookbook -- and how! Great playing, lots of energy. Makes me wish I was onstage back then with 'em. Preferably beside that cute keyboard player!

  • It's that a REALLY old GB 10 or just an old ibanez? I've never seen a GB without a tone switch

  • Love those earrings on the keyboard player! Classy.

  • Love this, but I can't wait until somebody finds those MoJazz clips from BETonJazz. Those were great.

  • Sorry for my ignorance, but did he study ar GIT, was a teacher or just a guest?

Thanx! By the way he is just great!

  • Norman taught at GIT. He was my private instructor for a year. Great player. It was like hanging out with George Benson every day.

  • That was awsome! Norman Brown is the best!

  • this is a rare gem! Fortunate to be able to view this (over and over again).

  • The dude is Nasty! I mean that in a good way. He is my favorite jazz musician. I was a big sax fan (Mike Phillips) before hearing his music. I plan to someday own his entire collection.

  • this was his first composition, and he was a monster back then , norman definetly at the top with all the other greats, he is my favorite, got all his albums

  • Man he has some arms on him.. lol

  • whats the song?

  • Just wonderful.

  • Old School Norman. He was always a great player.
