  • farnump you were so right, you just said it all, that is so true!!! I love these 1970's tv shows intros, the music was just so amazing, music the clothing, the cars, even the landscaping was just so cool, when I watch it I just can't take my eyes out, it's just so much to see and so much things you can use for creating anything, Bless the American good old days tvs shows.

  • Brilliant , brings back memories of watching this with my dad

  • Luther Adler was an excellent character actor.

  • Please release Season 3 on DVD.

  • Now when we think of streets of San Fransico we think of two dudes strutting down it in ass-less chaps holding hands.

  • The great Carol Kaye on bass guitar.

  • The Streets of San Fierro- A Rockstar North production

  • this intro with its rapid-fire succession of place-setting shots owes more than a slight debt to the opening for "hawaii five-o."

  • Check out the german intro! ;)

    Die Straßen von San Francisco

  • I always expected one of these, tonights episode, Karl Maldens nose.

  • brilliant! Iove the tune - V FUNKY!!!!!

  • Back when tv was worth watching. We got 4 channels and there was almost always something good on. Today we have 50 channels and almost always there is nothing worth watching.

  • @farnumbp Actually there are about 500 channels and there hardly nothing that you can find worth watching at all. Nothing but damn "reality shows".

  • @farnumbp 50 channels ? 100s of channels & very little worth watching !

  • Hell yah .. not been available Anywhere ..I've tried ..wish Netflix had this series? ?

  • brill

  • Regardles of how tough and mean they think they are now; 0:00 to 0:20 is still the most vicious meanest intro of any cop show to date. Superb simply superb.

  • Michael Douglas announced he is bringing it back as a movie. He will be playing Karl Malden's character and Ashton Kutcher will play Douglas's original character.

  • @Isotec1 old cop young cop feel alright on awarm sanfransican night like naked city are you sure he wasnt in the tv reunion it wasnt a qm thing and he was too big so they made him a homicide victim of a hommicidal maniac

  • In the german version there was no voice during the intro, only the pictures and the music...for us kids absolutely thrilling!

  • Brings back memories of when I was kid.

  • mister nobody!

  • DIRTY HARRY Cleaned up that city, before these guys did!

  • I have not heard of a single of the so called "special guest stars" on this episode...

...which is unusual because I watch way too much TV and normally know at least ONE of the week's characters from somewhere else.

  • The Nudie Girl (0:58) On the Strip Bar Sign Used To Make Feel So Guilty When I Was Li'l...,

It Would Give Me a "CHUBBY!!!!"

  • @LONGBEACHPUNKROCK it has remained with me as a symbol of eroticism. i see that image and i am transported back to my childhood.

  • @tamapalagi

    Ha Ha Ha!

    Yep! Yep!

The Hand Full of Times I've Been To Frisco, I ALWAYAS LOOK For IT!!!

It Was a DIRTY Li'l Secret That I Had Bottled Up for Years!

  • The best thing to come out of this town since Mcqueens bullit. A totally unique city it is appropiate that it has hosted some of the most unique material. Most of the areas where this series was filmed particularly around the fishermans wharf area has not changed much was there last year to retrace the bullit locations.A city one never gets tired of revisiting.

  • I love this show. I'm from San Francisco and if you watched this show today, you can see how different the city has changed since the early 70's.

  • Karl Malden....?

    YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

    Mr. Malden makes everything better!

  • This reminds everybody of The Police Squad parody because the announcer is the same - Hank Simms. Simms announced all the Quinn Martin shows in the 70s (Barnaby Jones, Cannon, Dan August, etc.) and also did Mission Impossible. When the Police Squad producers developed their parody, they naturally sought out Hank Simms. The Police Squad theme is actually a steal from the 50s cop show "M Squad" with Lee Marvin

  • Holy crap, when Michael Douglas was running around the streets of SF his current wife was only playing with dolls and wetting diapers, LOL...

  • 70s cop shows are brilliant

  • How come the tv show,COPS,is never in San Francisco?

  • IN COLOR!

  • This intro made it possible to go from 0 to funky in al under a minute !

  • FONKY ASS INTRO!!!

  • Big AL's is supposedly the birthplace of strip clubs.

  • Great theme music especially the guitar track

  • This is where the Police Squad openers came from.

  • @TrekToons M-SQUAD is closer

  • @spacepatrolman I wonder what M squad stands for is it murder squad or is it after L squad in one episode a guy breaks out of jail and kills somebody to steal his clothes

  • @TrekToons no police squad came from m squad

  • @spacepatrolman

    A Quinn Martin Production.

  • One of the BEST SHOWS ever !!! We can clearly see how both San Francisco and TV quality has deteriorated so badly since then.

I was a teen in the Bay Area at the time. The show means more to me now than ever !!!

  • look "Sraßen von San Francisco" no one disturb the Intro!!

  • luther adler lived to be 106 not bad age

  • "Streets of San Francisco"

    "Barnaby Jones"

    "Cannon"

I remember all those QM shows LOL. ...Heck the intros never LET you forget them.

  • i used to be scared of the music when i was a little boy..LOL

  • I love that opening. I grew up in SF and watched it all the time especially on reruns. After living in SF I can see all the F**k ups Hollywood makes when the show is suppose to be in SF but most of the show is in LA or some back lot.

  • São Francisco Urgente

Esse seriado tinham muitas cenas externas.

    Isso fazia a diferença.

  • Was that a US Coast Guard icebreaker sailing by in the background?

  • Special guest star........mr nobody

  • Wow, so much like Police Squad... in color!

Might even be the same voice.

  • When I'm done & dusted I want Quinn Martin Productions to tell the tale.Complete with the dubious laughter in the epilogue.

  • why is the grateful dead not in the opening credits...............makes me sick

  • @juliadennehy Adler Mr Nobody?!?My pipe

Wiki his name and look at his pedigree

    Holy gezinganoinks

  • If ever u want proof of our mortality watch these shows and look who are now old men and those who are dead

  • classic stuff,i cant stop thinking about naked gun the tv show.lol..

  • Sometimes my own life feels like a Quinn Martin production. The only thing missing is Buddy Ebsen running around looking for the one-armed man.

    Great show though.

  • who's luther adler ??? what's so special about him ??

  • @gianthairyvagina The only other thing I ever saw him in was The Twilight Zone episode "Man in the Bottle". I guess he was pretty well known in the 60's and 70's. Many of the stars of today will be forgotten in the next 20 years so it is all relative.

  • @lincbond442 Yes, with the exception of perhaps Mark Harmon, few of today's TV "stars" will be remembered in the coming decades.

  • sam fucking jaffee! yeah respect to micky d for getting into cathy zetas pants

  • I remember that episode, its where that guy does that thing to that other guy and everyone gets shot.

  • The billions of gallons of fuel consumed in SF alone since that airing of the show

Makes u think when it's gonna run out!!

  • As a lifelong resident of the SF Bay Area, I always enjoyed watching this show. It's amazing how the San Francisco depicted in the series is a far cry from the freak show of today. What a sad collapse of a once great city.

  • @Archangel101576 You mean being a huge center for cutting-edge global technology and a bunch of Fortune 500 companies? I WISH my city could "collapse" like that. Did everyone in the olden days whine as much as you?

  • @jacobkosh Unfortunately, not everyone views wealth solely in materialistic and economic terms as you've been brainwashed to do. Decency, common sense, and high expectations of behavior are more relevant to some of us than the presence of Fortune 500 companies. These values are clearly rare in today's SF, which has turned it into a laughingstock and freak show. Yes, I'd call that a collaspe! And to paraphrase your own words, is everyone today as ignorant and undemanding of good conduct as you?

  • @Archangel101576 A "freak show"? Get real. Maybe you should experiment with being less of a coward. You want values? Here's mine: I don't tolerate cringing weakness like yours. You''re living in the 21st century, champ, and you can either pussy out and whine about it or you can get on board.

  • @jacobkosh

You failed to mention the streets being full of aids-infested faggots and used needles, drug addicts sleeping in every other doorway, tons of illegal aliens sucking the welfare system dry.

The place is a fucking infected shithole.

  • @tradernorton05 And yet I'd rather be there than anywhere with a sobbing coward like you. What's it like being such a huge pussy? What's it like being so *weak*?

  • @jacobkosh

Ask your father what its like being such a huge pussy.

He's obviously passed it on to you.

Btw, how many tours have you pulled?

    yeah, I thought so.

  • @tradernorton05 It doesn't work that way - you don't get to call people pussy after you just admitted to spending your free time crying yourself to sleep about immigrants and gays. That makes you weak. That makes you unfit. That makes you inferior. And if the Army made you that way, well, it's no wonder they're such a pack of fuck-ups.

  • I had such a crush on Michael Douglas when I was in high school....I'm 4th stage like he is now...(his throat, my liver...) pains me to no end...

And now all we have is "American Idol" and "Jackass" and "Teen mom 2" ICK!!!!!!

  • @freakette55 You are right -- the shows we have nowadays are painful and they clearly indicate where our societies are heading . . . fast ! It is scary! Wish you the best with your present ordeal. You can overcome it!

  • Great show. It was amazing to get a couple powerhouse actors like Malden and Douglas on a weekly TV series. I loved it.

  • I am somewhat surprised that the German intro has more funk and dynamics, and especially has not this strange sounding off camera voice.

  • and the "special guest star" was normally a person no one's ever heard of

  • A young Michael Douglas before his AMEX days

  • Imagine if Michael Douglas made a Streets movie today -

    THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO

    Tonight's episode: MURDER NEVER SLEEPS

  • I like watching the Streets of San Francisco on KOFY TV 20 in back in 1989 that station is here in the Bay Area.

  • dont have t.v. like that these days and have 300 channels now

  • Those were the good days of tv.....amazing times to be a kid in the 7os

  • Michael Douglas antes da fama e um "pré-Charlie Sheen".

  • Tonights episode "21 ppl are Mr. Nobody's" :)))

  • As a kid growing up in England during the 70's almost all American cop shows seemed fantastic to me. It was a glimpse in to a different world of huge buildings and huge cars.... and lot's of sunshine!!!!

  • tis sounds a little like hey bulldog by the beatles.

  • Brings back so many memories!!

  • One of the best cop shows of the 70s. RIP, Karl Malden.

  • Another great police show to come out of the 1970s. Karl Malden was always great and Michael Douglas called him a "great co-star & mentor". Always fun to see who the guest stars would be every show too. Thanks for posting.

  • Awesome

  • I agree with eurodishco -- 60s & 70s dramas and cop shows (especially Quinn Martin's) had strong, unmistakable themes that were punchy and dramatic. Today shows are sort of generic and wishy-washy. But the QM announcer was a bit overly terse and dramatic -- today he makes me think of the parody intros on Police Squad.

  • @jlovebirch

The announcer was Hank Simms, who also did the intro to Police Squad.

Definitely agree that themes for cop shows back then were far better than what you hear now.

  • A

    Quinn Martin

    Production

  • Comment removed

  • how i fukkin love this show...

  • Sometimes even my life seems like a Quinn Martin production.

  • San Fierro :D

  • Best intro ever ! Even better than Hawai 5-0

  • watch our Frisco experience on our channel

COLUMBUS WAY - THE COAST TO COAST

    see yaaa

  • Who is "Luther Adler", their "special guest star" or David Z. Hall or Linda Heineman?

  • @WilliamDRowlett Luther Adler was primarily a stage actor of Russian Jewish lineage, born NYC, who did a lot of TV (but not much on the Big Screen) in the late '50s through the '70s. He died in '84 at 81.

Zooey Hall (or David Z. Hall) was prolific TV bit part actor in '70s (born in '46). "Zooey" apparently was uncle's nickname and he got stuck with it. David Z. was an alias.

Laurie Heinemann acted in TV briefly in the mid-'70s, actually winning an emmy on a soap opera in '78.

  • @teller121 Thanks for the info teller..some of them I recognise by face. But I had never seen or heard of David.Z.Hall before..hehe.

  • Didn't Leslie Nielsen star in this one? Oops, wrong series! ;-D

  • A QUINN MARTHA PRODUCTION!!!

  • I just keep thinking any moment Harry Callahan will pop out with his 44

  • Good show, ala Kojak, Barnaby Jones, Cannon, etc. Good stuff.

  • oh man. I should NOT have watched fillmore before I watched this.

    CAN'T... STOP... GIGGLING!

  • This is awful.

  • Michael Douglas must be so old.

  • @moogug Michael is mid 60's..he was mid to late 20's here

  • I used to watch just for the theme and usually change channels after that lol

  • AWSOME SHOW & THEME!!!

  • Michael Douglas was gorgeous!!!

  • AW MAN, I gotta love the narrator and that mono-tone voice!

    "Tonights Episode: MR. NOBODY!"

  • @dariusdynamite Totally! This is what's missing in today's TV shows.... character.... and not just in the show... i'm talking about right in the damned INTRO! hahaha!!! O_o But then again, these days, at the end of certain shows, like just after the closing scene and during the rolling of the credits, they preview the next episode, often vocally saying who'll be guest starring.

But still, nothing beats late 60's-70's narration style!

    "MR. NOBODY!"

  • @dariusdynamite On that note, if they ever do a remake of the series, they should get that guy who does those Geico commercials to be the new narrator guy. "Can switching to Geico really save you 15% or more on car insurance? Did the little piggy cry wee-wee-wee all the way home?"

  • @dariusdynamite ...And I simply love that traditional Quinn-Martin 'roll call' of guest stars.

  • @dariusdynamite That's Quinn Martin for you. "ACT I!" "ACT II!" "ACT III!" "ACT IV!" "EPILOGUE!"

  • tv has so lost its pimp edge

  • Is it my imagination or the theme songs of TV series of decades past were so iconic that even if you were not near the television set and the music started to play, you knew which show was on. My point is: even the television theme songs were too good in the past !

  • @eurodishco that was the whole point. the theme song was part of the show.

  • @tranurse Yes, that is right! From the moment the music started to play, you knew the trip was going to be a good one!

  • @eurodishco Quoted for absolute truth. I miss theme tunes on TV programmes. You could tell from just a few notes that your show was starting. And QM had some great themes and titles.

  • @cylon6 I totally agree with you about everything and QM was iconic!!!

  • @eurodishco I think you're not imagining things. Television themes from the 1970s, the 1960s, etc. were indeed iconic. Quinn Martin shows added the iconic device of the narrator identifying the main and guest casts and the episode title and it amounted to a complete one-minute epic.

  • @STP43FAN1 Thanks for certifying that I was not imagining things!!! I find that there was such a level of creativity and good writing (and great acting), in those days, which I cannot find on television shows today. And of course, the music had to be up to par with the whole concept of the series. No improvised, half-baked shows, music and acting back then. True professionalism at all levels.

  • @eurodishco I agree. It seems writers put a lot more thought and passion into their work back then. It seems like all shows today are clones of one another with different characters.

  • @ClassicTVful Well said my friend! Thank you!

  • @eurodishco u are so right ..and i thought i was the only one who thought that way ...those days were great...tv shows were actually entertaining..and they actually had these theme songs...now they dont...and if they do they dont compare to those any day ..what memories they bring back to us...i find myself just going through these on you tube..and im in another place...a much nicer calmer place..its cray...but im glad i got to experience it..and can still lok back on good memories.

  • @eurodishco They were although the the theme to 'Law & Order' is up there with them .

  • @1caninelover Yes you are probably right!

  • @eurodishco This series was on really before my time, as reruns. I can't remember a thing about the show, but I remember the song!!

  • @Kraziken0 I was a kid back then but I would still watch the show because it was not ultra violent. And the song (as all the television series' songs were in those days), so good and recognizable!

  • @eurodishco No imagination - the '70s were the best era for TV and film music.

  • @rabates123 Thank you for your validation my friend. Much appreciated!

  • I loved these shows were they read out all the titles, like a lot of their viewers were iliterate, or something. I surprised there's no.. 'In Color', at the start, like everyone's colour-blind and need to be told..LOL

  • woow...i saw this serie when i lived in SFO ..i was at junipero serra shool...beautiful moments...

  • Starring Karl Malden as ........ Mister Magoo !!!

  • Starring Karl Malden as ........ Mister Magoo !!!

  • Special, special guest star..............Sexton Blake, can solve any crime after a cup tea and a slice of fruit cake and completing the Times crossword puzzle.

  • Great funky theme tune to a classic TV series

  • @TheBeatMerchant Boogie Juice by Bret Bennet

  • theyre spending a million or so dollars building a suicide net on the Golden Gate Bridge , like that's the only way to commit suicide. A typical SF move.

  • @k3304 A million or so of whose dollars ? Pound to a penny you have the same kind of idiots in charge of public finances as we have over here.

  • This show helped me through many a dialysis session.

  • Thing you MIGHT find on the STREETS of SAN FRANCISCO today-

1 the Bones of dead hippies

2 the local STARWEEDS - keeps you up...keeps you hungry

    3 lost liberal democrats

4 Karl Malden's hairpiece and nose implant emporiun

5 Hippie hookers who charge 1960s prices..OOPS, hookers in their 60s who charge below market prices

  • Hey look, @0:39 "Gunga Din" is in this episode

  • Even odds a 're-imagining' is being planned...

  • They don't make tv themes like this anymore.

    And David.Z.Hall..what a screen name!..lol.

  • @mooneepondskid in the 70's and 80's people used to make us great tv series themes , but today ...they're not so good .maybe because they are made by computers and no more orchestras

  • As a kid watching this show I developed a huge crush on Michael Douglas.

  • @kimmy1984 You and Catherine Zeta Jones.

  • @GoblinXXX Probably not, unless you're talking about reruns. Zeta Jones was born in September, 1969, so she was seven years old when the Streets of San Francisco aired its last episode in June, 1977.

  • @ChicagoSouthDan My comment stands as it is.

  • Cancer Boy Douglas only got cast in this because his father was a close friend of Karl Malden.

  • @JuanMacready Thats TERRIBLE! And SO WHAT???? My dad get me into big business, GOOD

  • @JuanMacready

LOL at your bitter rant...what did Michael Douglas ever do to you.

  • @BeastMaiden2012 He glamourised cigarettes. So glad he has stage 4 throat cnacer.

  • @BeastMaiden2012 Juan Macready is a total shit starter who said he was glad Patrick Swayze died and that he hopes Russell Crowe dies of cancer as well. Just thought you should know so he can be reported to youtube for being a total asshole.

  • carl malden make a blackman nose look small.

  • They should bring this show back with new stars. Updated for 2010-2011. They would have to keep that great theme song!

  • This brings back Childhood Memoriesssssssssssssss

  • I wish people whould stop putting other cities and states down in the U.S.A. the way how i view it there is problem everywhere in the U.S. there is no perfect utopia not in this world!

  • FAKE everyone knows michael douglas is in NY hahaha

  • The Streets of San Fierro. A Rockstar North Production.

With guest stars... Peter Fonda... Samuel. L. Jackson... Chris Penn. Special guest star.... Chuck D.......

Da Da DA!! Da da da daa daaaa!! etc.

  • Good crap, and I thought music videos had quick edits...

  • "Tonight's episode......Mrs Nobody.....Starring Nancy Pelosi"

  • @Lex5576 Laughing at loud that is Hilarious Mrs Nobody ..... Starring Nancy Peloosi" how about Tonight Episode the attack of Obama Health care plan LoL

  • @Lex5576 ROFLMAO!

  • Tonights episode: The guy with the grey beard did it

  • yeah, oh yeah.

  • I believe there were two spin off series after this: one staring Karl Maldens nose and another charting the sexual exploits of Michael Douglas which ran for 53,874 episodes between 1977 - 1978

  • This was a great show RIP Karl Malden!

  • @GhostryderRebel 2 right mate..was a great show...Shame about Douglas having Throat Cancer tho...One of the best shows of it's era! ever!!!
