At 8:31 he broke a string...that's why he rushed the solo, but this is one of the best versions of stairway to heaven and JIMMY PAGE IS THE BEST no questions asked...
Wow nice post man, I always liked the audio in this better than any other Zeppelin bootleg or Cd for Stairway, great peformance, Jimmys guitar is right on
The first half of Jimmy's solo here is excellent. Even better than the studio version maybe but it completely falls apart in the second half his improv there should have been better.
yea for me it loses steam at about 8:07....still amazing though...but 1973 version is even more epic...hes strong thru the whole solo there...and then some...haha
agreed on your timing. The 1973 version is solid all the way through but one thing this one has and doesn't do in the 1973 performance or in the studio version is that strumming part at about 6:59, that sounds really cool and this is the only one I have ever heard him do that for this solo so both of those solos have their ups and downs I suppose.
Led Zeppelin ROCKS! The Jimmy Page solo, and pretty much everything else is amazing. This is a great song, and it's reassuring to know that they sounded as good live a they did in the studio. Robert Plant kinda looks like a cross between a tree and a bird...
8:56
