  • Talked to must

  • If you were going to choose between either the Ruger SR-22 or the S&W M&P 15-22, which would you go with? thanks and your reviews are great!

  • I don't want to choose!

Both of them are on my desk right now. If I had to choose one, I would go with the Ruger, as it is smaller and lighter, but neither of these are leaving here.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom I know what you mean, I want both too. But I'm just only able to get one as of right now and I've been trying to look up as much as I could on either. I think you do a great job with the videos and I respect your opinion greatly. Thanks for the advice Jeff, and keep up the great work!

    Paul

  • My good sir, you have an amazing beard.

  • Did Ruger pull this rifle? It's not on their website and they now have a pistol by the same model name.

  • I do not know.

    Jeff

  • Short, but informative, good video. Thanks for making it. I'm considering one of these over the 10/22, even though they are double the price.

  • hey bud, i just put alot of money into my 10/22. i put the archangel stock then i bought the A-2 sights and a carry handle that holds my electro sight scope. i have probablly put close to five into it. My question is, how much did u get that for? thanks

  • MSRP is $625, you should be able to pick one up for around $500.

  • @securitygaurd81 i wish i could have told you to not bother with the archangel stock, IMO sr 22 or the 10/22 vleh pwn it for the price

  • @Taud thanks for the info. i guess its a little to late for that. ohwell

  • Jesus!! I kno it's a .22 in all but there was literally no recoil at all when firing!

  • mine is the exact same rifle accept mine has a tripod adjustable stock red dot sight

  • Thanks was just the video I was lookin' for, Specs, Look, and Firing Example.

  • I own this rifle and i want to put peep sites on it, shop ruger wont mail to canada and im having a hard time finding any around here. So my first question is does anyone no i good spot to go online to get parts and my 2nd question is i sites for an ar-15 that i really like, would they fit on my rails? or are they totally different? Anyone know? Love to get some help....Thanks!

  • hes like a big dwarf :)

  • @gunblastdotcom would u spend the extra money to get the Tritium sights or the standard? For sr-22

  • I prefer the tritium.

    Jeff

  • I dig ur rifle and it's set up... Very cool

  • who's the guitarist you have playing on all your videos?

  • The guitarists vary - credit is given at the beginning and end of each video.

  • 15-22 is 10 times this gun the sight he has on there are from S&W's 15-22. <- that gun is nail driver ruger makes great .22 but if you want the ar style go this the S&W

  • I just think your beard is awesome I'm not trying to be mean and nice gun

  • i dig the beard man.

  • santa claus during summer.

  • Where can you buy this gun?

  • Any dealer should be able to get you one. If you are looking for a dealer, go to Lipsey's web site (lipseys-dot-com) and click the "Dealer Finder".

  • @Badingolfer1 Everywhere lol

  • Willie Nelson?

  • Awesome Video weldone 5/5

    Tam

  • Got a question for you; Is that free float shroud removable and able to attach a new one? and can the trigger be upgraded with 10 22 trigger kits?

  • The answer is "yes" to both questions.

    Jeff

  • Stored and locked up by the way..here in canada

  • got one of these bad boys in my Apartment!

  • Damn I wished that i know that Ruger made that rifle tactical. I wouldn't of bought the 597 VTR.

  • LEGENDARY BEARD

  • how much ecoil does it have because i am 12

  • Hardly none, I'm sure you can handle it. My six-year-old grandson has been shooting 22 rimfires since he was two.

  • @Gunblastdotcom hey jeff great review i heard you say that it would except any aftermarket barrel does that include the bull barrels? thanks for any information

  • Yes, even bull barrels.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom hey jeff i was wondering the ruger 10/22 with the barrel band and switch out the barrel for a heavy barrel and then put that into a stock that excepts heavy barrels? i was wondering cause i want to buy a 10/22 with the barrel band and replace the barrel thanks jeff

  • You do not need the barrel band. It is only cosmetic.

    Jeff

  • @MrSniper1500 if the barrel is longer than 4 inches a .22 will have no recoil

  • @MrSniper1500 22. Barely have any recoil, you could barely notice it.

  • nice gun...

  • You can not go wrong with RUGER .

  • Yeah i would love to buy one of those but my advice would be too just buy a 10/22 and put a archangel stock on it cheaper and it looks better/My opinion

  • would this be ok for home deense with a big cap magazine?

  • Yes it would.

    Jeff

  • @proxima well its a vermin rifle i suggest a higher caliber rifle with .22-250

  • @proxima Any gun is better than none.

  • @proxima First rule in a gunfight...... have a gun.

  • @proxima Ill take my mossburg and slugs for home defence. you dont wanna shoot all those bullets with family in the house rather 1 big 1.....but hey everyone has there weapon of choice.....but im not grabbing a pussy ass .22 when someone breaks in thats for sure maybe a .45 or .50 or 12 gauge

  • Damn I need one of these, I have always said you need nothing more than a .22

  • If you like this rifle you might also like the X-22R

  • Hello, i had a question that i hope you can answer. i am thinking about getting the smith and weston MP 15-22 or a ruger SR-22. i have seen your vids for both guns and was wondering whitch gun you favor.

  • Both are excellent weapons, and it just comes down to personal choice. I couldn't decide, so I bought both!

    Jeff

  • @kafziel2 if you would like a closer simulation to a ar-15 for training or practice the m&p15-22 has all the functioning components like a ar-15 bolt release, sight adjustment, interchangeable accessories ect. Where as the ruger has the good old ruger actions reliability in a ar setup, and all 10/22 accessories mags barrels ect are interchangeable.

  • @s3import thanks for the extra info, you make a good point and i am going to go with the MP, besides i think my brother ahs a 10/22 lol

  • @kafziel2 just to add to jeffs reply.. depending on your states law (im in canada), the S&W is a restricted firearm due to the use of the AR lower, where as the sr-22 is just a 10/22 action in an AR inspired stock, you may want to take that into consideration when you make your choice

  • @kafziel2 I was thinking the same thing but I think I'm going to go with the ruger sr-22. The reason being that I've had a mini 14 for about 10 years and they work great and never jam so I trust the Ruger brand.

  • Ty for the review. I was lookin at this from a recent gun sale ad. Very informative.

    Kick ass beard btw!

  • Just wondering friend,...How tight will it group? Thanx for showing us the rifle. I did end up buying the Colt M16SPR though because I wanted a 21" barrel. Colt's M4 is only 16". I have a nice 1022 with a Butler Creek kit. It's a little tac driver.

  • Around a half inch or so at fifty yards. For details, read the review in the Archive section on Gunblast.com

    Jeff

  • This is nowhere near his first rifle! His first rifle was a 22 single-shot, with wood stock and case-hardened receiver.

  • In your opinion which gun is better this new Ruger or the Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22? I looked at the S&W today and I really liked it but I'm wondering which would be the better buy. Thank you for all your videos and great reviews!

  • Both are very good, but I prefer the S&W.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom Alright I think that's what I'm set on thank you for the help!

  • Which one do you like better? M&P 15-22 or SR-22?

  • Personally, I like the M&P better, but both are very good weapons.

    Jeff

  • even if ten round mags are available for that gun is it still legal in cali

  • I wish it came in .22 mag!

  • i wish i was born in the states god i love how you have the right to bear arms

  • @gravedigr12 well why not move here? Just come on over. Our borders are open and you get welfare and medical care the minute you set foot in the states.

  • how thick is the barrel? can an AR-15 handguard be put on it?

  • how much is this rifle?

  • MSRP is $625, average street price should be around $500.

  • Awesome gun, but i have to say...your beard is even awesomer

  • will my plastic 25 round clip for my 10/22 ruger fit this gun?

  • Yes it will.

    Jeff

  • That's not a very powerful gun is it? It was barely moving when he shot it and I couldn't see any gas at all.

  • It's a 22 Long Rifle - not very powerful, but capable of doing most anything that needs to be done with a firearm, if the shooter is equal to the task. I'm often asked the silly question, "If you could only have one gun, what would it be?" Hard to say, but the caliber would likely be 22 rimfire.

  • its an ok gun but i prefer th mp 15 22

  • i was out at a shooting range over the weekend and was allowd to shoot one of those. it belonged to an older guy who came up to me and was like you got to try this i loved it i just had one orderd for my wife verry nice rifle...

  • I think I might buy one for my son. He's 2 right now. I'll just hold onto it until he's old enough.

  • that's a nice gun!

  • Nice Vid very well done. You do know your fittings!

  • I appreciate this and all the reviews you have done on Youtube and your site. Great stuff...keep 'em coming!

  • very nice

  • that dude has the coolest beard...

can you ask HIM to respond to this?

  • if i got this gun an i buy ar accessoies?

  • Yes you can, but they will not work on this gun.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom LOL!

  • thinking of getting one. just wondering if the AR sights are worth it or if a scope is a better option? Motly going to be used for huning rabbits, grouse and pop cans :)

  • I prefer a scope.

    Jeff

  • would u recomend this gun for target pratice or do u have a better suggesting?

  • Excellent reviews. Im torn between the 10/22 target tactical and this

  • Do like I do - get them both!

  • awesome review..makes it easier on me cuz i like to study my guns b 4 i buy them

  • i bought a sr 22 for $470 plus $100 for magpul sights and $130 for top and side hand guard rails with a grand total of

$720 (hi Cap mag) plus tax. too much for a .22. learn for my mistakebuy a sig suar 522. u can get them for $400 rails only cost$20 get a basic red dot for$30. it comes with hi cap mag grand total of$450. and its it shoots all types of ammo. great gun. sr22 looks silly without the rail kit and sights

  • @sos123321 thx man ill buy the suar 522 now its such a better deal

  • that beard is wicked! nice vid

  • ya go fellow left hander im a lefty to

  • imma lefty as well hell ya

  • nice beard.

  • Cant go wrong with ruger, Im gonna stick with the s&w M&P 15-22. These are nothing more than a dressed up 10-22.

  • @SHUNT311 s&w feels like a cheap airsoft gun and WILL break. buy one for your 12 yr old

  • The are a solid build, Only thing ive heard so far on broken guns is the umarex colt m4. colt does not make them, Walther does. It just has colts name on it thats all. Im going today with 1k in hand. I have a gsg-5p so Im done for now as far as the .22 cloans go. It sure does feel like a airsoft gun lol.

  • zombie rifle

  • @daf867 yep, especially with 50 rd banana clips

  • Always see WHAT your shootin....lets see some accuracy results on your targets for a better review....Please sir..

  • Please see the referenced review for more info, including pics of groups.

  • Thank you sir

  • i use this gun when im out on the trails i use it for hunting small game its a great gun but i do not like the way it feals kinda feals like a toy

  • @with33

i thought colt and ruger were the best out of the three ar 22 variants on the market but i know what you mean. S&W is the worst

  • Its proven every where you look that out of the 3 the umarex is the worst, nothing but failures and colt does not make them, Walther does. It just has colts name on it thats all.

  • Thanks for the reply.

  • You do a great job of reviewing the guns but I would like to see some accuracy results on more reviews please, thanks,,,

  • Please see the referenced articles for more info.

  • dumb ass there calle weaver rails... and is a collapsable stock... not six position but

  • They are not Weaver rails, but are Picatinny spec rails. There is a big difference between the two. It is also a six-position telescopic buttstock. "Collapsable" is not the proper term.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom I think he got all his information from a video game... lol great review Jeff.

  • Im using a 17hm2 barrle and bolt in mine from Mag Reas.

  • i wish they had an 17 hmr that was like the ruger SR-22

  • Sir, how about a review on the Sig 522 LR? Thanks.

  • I will try to get one.

    Jeff

  • Wow reminds me of SOCOM

  • Did you pull those peep sights off an M&P 15-22? Just curious.

  • Yes I did.

    Jeff

  • i love that rifle. every american home needs one. if president Eisenhower were around today he would agree.

  • Love that you guys are posting vids on youtube now. I have been a gunblast fan for years, keep 'em coming.

  • it shot down b52's? i dunno bout that i have a 10 22 and i love it i have no need for another 22 so i most likely wont pick one of these up but its a really cool lil gun i like it allot

  • This gun will make a anti gunner crazy, we all know of the destructive capabilities of the .22LR, it was known to shoot down B52s at 2 miles away.

  • if you cant detect the sarcasm, read this.

  • @Yotehunter93

I knew my pro gun buddies would appreciate that.

  • how much does it cost

  • 425

  • is my 6 year old daughter 2 young?

should i start her off with a cricket bolt action ,

i would like to start her off young on carbine type rifles, simply because thats what i like.

  • It is a very good choice. The adjustable stock makes it fit perfectly.

    Jeff

  • @droagan

I'm sure you will, but protect her ears.

Have fun, and I hope she does too.

  • how's the accuracy on it? would it make an ok hunting rifle?

  • It would make a superb hunting rifle - accuracy was great, 50-yard 10-shot groups ranged from 0.864" using Federal bulk pack ammo, down to 0.408" using Wolf match ammo. Please read the referenced article for more information.

  • its great that ruger is finally making tactical looking firearms. i think i still rather keep my 10/22 and keep it looking like it came out of the box. i tend to lean towards more civilized looking firearms.

    -the kiddo

  • hey how do you convert a ruger 10/22 semi-auto into full-auto?

  • Illegally.

  • where did u find those iron sights. i'm getting ready to purchase a sr-22 and don't want to get stuck using the rail as my optics. thanks

  • They are not made of iron, but primarily of aluminum. I robbed them off of my S&W M&P-22.

    Jeff

  • I bought a set off of ebay There made by UTG. Not the same quality as on an AR, but not the same price either. For a 22 they work fine. For the front sight you need to buy the picatinny rail for the front grip.

  • ive shot both the smith and wesson mp 15 22 and the sr 22

i bought the s&w. both are reliable just like the feel of the mp 15 more

  • Could I get the link to the website where you bought this I cannot find it?

  • Your dealer can get them at Lipsey's distributors (lipseys-dot-com) or Davidson's (galleryofguns-dot-com - sorry I can't put direct links in my responses). If you need to locate a dealer in your area, Lipsey's web site has a handy "Dealer Finder".

  • dose this mean that it will also fit the 25 round magazines and the 50 round drum?

  • It will accept any magazine that will fit a 10/22 rifle.

    Jeff

  • just buy a .223 ar and use cmmg conversion kit. more flexibility and choice in one rifle

  • also spend twice as much

  • I want either this one or the S&W but I'm conflicted. I like the muzzle thread on the Ruger but S&W has open sights on theirs. so I'm wondering -where can I find open sights for the ruger, whats the cost, and how easy are they to install?

  • You are coool :D

  • Is it worth the extra money vs. the S&W?

  • Both are very good, and the Ruger is selling online for about $450, but only you can decide which is better for you.

    Jeff

  • WOW im sold what does one of these beauties run...love to have one god bless america and god bless ruger lol

  • Current MSRP is $625.

  • thanks for the info really helpful

  • Looks like a winner!

  • Jeff, Is the Nordic kit easily removed so you can clean the action?

    Great review as always.

  • Yes, it is very simple to get the action out of the Nordic chassis.

    Jeff

  • lol GUNBLASTDOTCOM IS THE SHIT

  • A concise, thorough review - as always. Interesting gun... Thanks.
