  • can you graft a scion on any other root stock i have a friend who has a pear tree that he says is graftied onto a hichory root stock just asking

  • I have five Mango trees,of different varieties. Can you take a cutting from each one of the trees and graft it to one to produce different brands on one tree?

  • @bottomgunner Yes you may, I have large mango tree with 2 types. I have mango nursery with over 30 kinds and am grafting many with differant types

  • @SuperNicefield Thanks for the info. Winter temperatures get about 35 degrees here. it's about 39 degrees right now. I have them wrapped with plastic to protect them. The temperature changes so fast it may be in the 60's tomorrow. Would it hurt them to leave them wrapped for the remainder of the winter? What time of the year do you graft? Thanks a lot for your time.

  • You forgot to say why exactly did you graft the trees. Is it because it makes them grow faster or something?

  • ok back to a SERIOUS comment...

This is probably the smartest;easiest;and probably the most surefire way for your scion to graft....

    Kudos to the girls!

  • Yeah,

    they're all natural allright.

probably with hairy legs;armpits and all...:)

  • @hl1996 VERY BRAVE. She'll probly give you a good natural smack in the mouth too. Not on Youtube or Facebook, but in front of your mates where you stand. We got a name for you in Australia... DICKHEADS.

For Very Good Varieties of Fruit Plants (Grafted, Bud and Seedling)

  • the best lesson, i wish i saw this earlier, good job

  • when grafting dose the plant have to be from the same type fruit and/or can you mix and match with different type fruit? please help me understand what types to graft with.

  • @michfisher I think as long as the first word of the scientific name matches were good. Not sure of the limitations, more reason to have a go...

  • me encanta el video from el salvador

  • very good video.

    greetings from Serbia.

  • Hi Kath and Katie

Do you think I can grow mango trees in Turkey???

    Regards

  • What kind of tree did you use as a rootstock?

  • is it possible to graft a fruit tree to a tree that is not even close to its specie? for instance, grafting a mango branch onto a cedar tree. And, would it make the fruit taste funny?

    thnx

  • @PitPat23 lol no

  • would this method be good for avocado grafting?

  • Hi, I have some avocado trees I'd like to graft.

    Will this method work?

Is there a better method for grafting avocado?

Should I do a cleft graft, or wait until they get bigger and try a side vaneer variation.

Thanks from a ametuer greenthumb in Miami FL.

  • Heretics! Sacrilege! Torturous oppression of God's plants to do the bidding of humans! You will go to hell for this! Excellent instructional video!

  • @Dtchmastrkilla7 You have no idea what you are talking about. God understand the purpose of grafting. And the only way a person ends up in hell is if he is too proud to understand grace. You are good, when only God is good. Excellent video. Thank God for grafting.

  • @RJsuthers i think he or she was joking. everyone needs a funny bone graft. geeesh ; ))

  • @Dtchmastrkilla7 grafting is natural and better to produce quality fruits as we grafted quality fruiting branches and making the trees produce fruits earlier than using chemical to produce quality fruits but hazardous to human health. Hi! I'm Joel Dela Cruz from Philippines. Happy Farming!

  • @Dtchmastrkilla7 the bible speaks on tree grafting, but you wouldnt know that

  • @Dtchmastrkilla7 your wrong sir!! Grafting techniques was base from observing tha nature. The origin of grafting originated in china when scholars noticed that some plants in the wild unite when their cambium was exposed naturally. So, they just copying what the nature does.

  • For a great instructional video on growing mango plants come on over to "The Mango Plant Maker"

  • you babes are really hot

  • Great video. I would only mention the necessity to carefully match the cambium layer of the rootstock and the cambium layer of the scion ON ONE SIDE ONLY when taping the graft, since the two usually have different diameters.

  • really gr8 video... plz post weather requirement during grafting as well

  • @pradeepbhor420 don't graft when foliage is wet, to minimize infection of the cut; however, ensure the roots have lots of moisture and is actively drawing that water up the trunk of your rootstock to feed your new scion.

  • how come you did not apply a plastic bag over the grafted part? isnt it better to put a small plastic bag, then a paper bag on top of that? or is that not needed with a cleft graft?

  • @okinawaskate a plastic bag eliminates transpiration (drying out) of the scion greatly improving the chance of success. The paper bag is only necessary if you are grafting a planted rootstock in the open field, to protect the scion from sunburn. If it's done in a shadehouse, the paper bag is unnecessary.

  • Hi, I love your video and I have a few questions.

How old does is the root stock when you graft? I have some baby avocado trees, they are very skinny right now with 8-12 leaves. Would they have to be at least a year old before I could graft a sine from a adult avocado onto them?

  • Educational. Can you also do one wherein the host plant is totally decapitated?

  • Outstanding demo...query what kind of tape are you using for the "grafting tape"? Is it teflon?

  • My family has been grafting trees going back to 1935.Grafting all species is possible but not with desired results. Some pleasant though.Use the same cutting technique do this in shade to minimize fluid loss,1 part root growth powder 9 parts manure wrap tightly with wet cardboard follow with tinfoil and wrap tight with string. Check 1x a month for new growth and change dressing with new mixture/enjoy 1-2 yrs,not enough room to go into detail but it has been done for generations on our farms.

  • That's cool!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, Dave Mustaine knows how to graft trees!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAH !!! thats a riot !!!! WYF !!!

  • so cute, so smart. natural girls!

  • @telemarker77 your right and healthy too. Happy Farming!

  • Question, do you grow the root sytem from seed? As I am currently growing a Mango tree from seed And I'm thinking of acquiring a bud branch to graft allowing fruit to grow.

  • Hey u guys are awesome! i bought a apple tree from your website and its going great! keep up the great work!

  • Live the Dream...Come join Our Groups!

  • Thanks for this.. I will be visting my local nursery tomorrow and hoping to find suitable rootstock and whatever tape you were using so I can graft my white flesh nectarine.. its sibling tree died and I dont want to risk losing the other.

  • Hi, do you know which plant was grafted here. i didn't catch it . is it nectarine ?

  • "glenn" mango. daley's is a tropical nursery in Australia.

  • I thought this was an excellent video! When should grafting tape be removed?

  • she had it for 5 months

  • what tape did she us to tape it together???

  • Amazing mate!

  • este video es muy lindo aprendi a ingertar gracias a tu video y por la claridad con que explicas muchas gracias

  • This was very helpfull in explaining what Grafting is and how it is done! Thank you very much for posting!!

  • Thank you for a great instructional video. I am anxious to try this on my Mexicola Grande avocado tree.

  • i love fruit trees i'm really interested especially grafting. i subscribed to you. this is what youtubes all about

  • Excellent Video, Thanks for posting. I do have three questions.

If I was to graft a mango scion onto a jack fruit root stock, would the fruits become_______

    1. mostly mango or mostly jack fruit?

    2. 50/50 of mango and jack fruit (two different fruits on one tree?

    3. a combo (half breed) of both fruits into one fruit?

  • it will become mango which is what the top is (if the graft takes and if it survives for long) because they're two very different plants.

Fruit trees should be of the same botanical family to be grafted.

  • I've always wanted to know how to graft

  • Great video. Wish they'd spent a little more time on making and matching up the cuts.
