could some one please give me a good amp setting for this amp I'm using a american start and i can't find a good setting for e.g. rock blues some one please help much appreciated
Is there a 50 watt marshall that just has a master volume? So you can crank the crap out of it and get that natural overdrive break up that none of that electronic bullshit can match?
@Blompcube word on the forums is that if you re-valve and bias, it makes a world of difference. also even the amp designer will tell you this, if you put a ts808 or a boss sd-1 in the loop it will smooth it out........ go figure an amp that needs a pedal to help it.
@sgbigsby1989 i didn't say it was a bad amp, did i ;) i just think the overdrive doesn't sound very tube-like for a tube amp. i suspect there's some opamp clipping going on in there, especially if an overdrive pedal in the FX loop can smooth out the tone.
which cab is it? and does the type of cab make much difference in sound. i mean like, if i take a bugera 412F and a marshall 412A would that be a difference in sound?
my setup for MA50amp + MC212box: drive mod presence 3/4 resonance at12oclock treb 14 oclock mid 12oclock bass 10-11 oclock gain FULL c.balance 0 + jackhammer JH1 dist mode, gain at 13oclock , vol. at half bass 1/4 treb half contour FULL freq 1/3 good for dropped, baritone or sevenstring..
Sorry. I just hate ibanez, and the head of the subject is so similar. I use Gibson, and Marshall really fits well with Gibson, that;s all. I am from Europe, i don't know that guitar. Sorry again.
Im from slovak republic (east europe) , i have 2 schecter guitars - C-7 and PT deluxe. Schecter guitars are MUCH MORE BETTER than ibanez, i played many guitars but Schetcers are best for me... and my friends - players.
Sorry. I just hate ibanez, and the head of the subject is so similar. I use Gibson, and Marshall really fits well with Gibson, that;s all. I am from Europe, i don't know that guitar. Sorry again.
IF YOU NEED A PEDAL THEN YOUR HEAD IS NOT DOING ITS JOB!!!!! IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD A BIG BOY BUY A BUGERA!!!!! MORE BANG FOR A LOT LESS BUCK FOR SURE!!!!
Not a bad little head. The 50 watt is loud. The cab is horrible sounding with the Eminence speakers. I use it with a 1960A Lead re-fitted with English Greenbacks, a 1960A Lead re-fitted with English V30s and what I call my 'ballbreaker' cab, a 1936 fitted with two Electro Voice vintage EVM-12S. A good tube swap helps it sound worlds better. Three NOS Mullard ECC83s and two Tung-Sol EL34s and a re-bias woke this thing up.
man what a piece of crap this amp is.you need to try a more manly amp like the randall v2 like i got.its abad mother.its got bottom end and squeeling harmonics that you wouldnt believe.its the amp dime bag wouldve loved to have and its very versatile.it also has a 6 band e.q. way better than any boogie plus its 400 watts. plenty of headroom. you could play any stadium anywhere and be louder than their p.a..
turn up the gain away you go,or get a metal pedal.this is a full tube amp
not a solid state crap machine.but for you or anyone go damn well try out some amps at a music store, dont ask online.if you cant listen to the amp and realize what its good for, your not ready for anything like this as you just started playing anyway! what you need is experience and the ability to listen to something and determine what it sounds like,ok mate?
@utooberblooper well you are an asshole i can tell that much from this video and from what i heard (setting wise) sounds no good for megadeth 2nd maybe i asked bc there isnt a music near me that has marshalls 3rd why uplaod a vid showing off an amp? if we cant ask questions your a complete dumbass
@mmim4 dude, I just ordered one, cant wait. Its just fine for anything you want to play, the only thing you might need is an Ibanez Tube Screamer for a little extra push. I have been playing boogie for a long time until I blew it up a couple of weeks ago. I play all day and I need a good amp. this will fit the bill nicely. I play the music you are into and I am sure it will be just fine for what I want. Check out my vids for the sound I like from my amps.
@mmim4 Im going to give you one of the biggest tricks in the music biz . Most pros in Metal that use marshall tube heads, use Overdrive pedals, not distortion, but Overdrive pedals like a Tubescreamer, SD-1, Dod 250. They use the pedal over the Gain on the Marshall Head. This will push the front end, and you will get ultimate gain. Zakk Wylde does this as do many others ,ONS of pros!
@mmim4 Heres the deal. Marshall has one of the most recognizable tones in rock/metal history. So when you get a masrhall, you dont want to ruin it by using a distortion pedal. You want to get the real tone from the amp. What the pros do is they get the overdrive pedal and slam it on top of the actual distortion from the head. Overdrive pedals dont dramatically color the tone of the amp, they just let actual tone of the amp ring out more. Thats how Zakk and many others get massive crunch
I have this amp, love it! I tried it next to a valve king 100 and the marshall completely overpowered it. Cuts through the mix far better than the valve king too. Im using mine in a similar way to this guy at the end of the vid. I use a modded 808 tube screamer and it really sings. As with all marshalls though, do not use it at bedroom volumes!
@judgeshred66 I doubt that the valve king 100 watt was over powered by this amp! I have the VK head and a JCM 2000 head going through a Marshall 1960 cab. The Peavey VK can match if not over power the JCM which is a higher end Marshall than this cheap MA! You have to know how to correctly set up the VK to get its true potential!!!
@EuphorbusBTB Hey i am not saying it is a great amp...Or that it even compares to a true England made Marshall. i am simpley saying for the money it is a good amp that sounds great for the price. And as far as Peavey goes i never heard a Peavey i liked other than Classic 50 and a Mace, and Butcher. otherwise they all sounded buzzy to me. Great for Heavy thrashing Metal bands of today...And built well. But Peavey is and has always been to harsh sounding to my ears.
Great sounding amp for price....and AC/DC is definately....easy to cover with this amp....I do not have the 50 watt but I do have the 100watt and I demo'd it as well. I love it and am gonna purchase another one for sure...Not bad for an amp priced that way and made in Vietnam......Still prefer a true England made Marshall!!
Only problem with this series ive noticed is the cabs are rubbish, in comparison to 1960's or such. Pickup yourself i higher end cab, and you got yoursefl a kickin tube stack
@skeletonbloodbell? it's not shitty. I'm not a huge marshall fan. I switch between three amps mesa/boogie road king; roland jazz chorus; and a mesa/boogie trip/rec. I went to the store and played the MA-100H for shits and giggles and about 80 min later? I bought the pig. It played great, much to my surprise. When i got home and ran the Gsp1101 through it, I was further pleased with my purchase. It's a Marshall -- no doubt.

while these amps sound pretty good, the overdrive is very raspy and gritty which is just nothing like the classic marshall crunch at all.
