  • I wouldn't be surprised if Bireli decided to burn his third and fourth fingers

  • Bireli is a reincarnation of Django!!! What a dialogue with a Gillespie-like violinist Didier Lockwood!

  • great concert!!!

  • HappY BDDE Georgieeeeeeeee

  • Kussi Weiss looks like Django!!!

  • he looks like a pugy django XD

  • omg the beard !!!!

  • good luck trying to copy bireli... you're better off trying to train a house cat how to fetch

  • any one know what kind of fingers they use ,truly virtuoso,

  • 'old man river ' :46 lol nice

  • senza fiato.....

  • Yeah but can he play Duelling Banjo's? ;-)

Going to see Tommy Emmanuel on Sunday and am waiting for Bireli to hit town. Stop bashing here folks, they are very different styles and both great exponents. I like them both for very different reasons. It'd be like comparing both to Tarrega or Mangore. You just can't!

  • @ruddynora yeah am a classical player..it's all great stuff :)

  • very nice.. te trajes phrala

  • Guys, its music, n ot a competitionQ I am sure Tommy and Birelli don't go around with an attitude like that, I would imagine they both respect the abilites of th other, so why are we making it a win lose who better than who, just enjoy both for the music they make! And Lockwood is pulling out some nice violin too!

  • God is a Gipsy.

  • Birelli Rules!

  • Don't forget !Thomas Dutronc is playing guitar to !

  • @Elibuti Thomas Dutronc est un figurant ! bien gentil et tout, mais s'appeler Dutronc ca a du bien l'aider...

  • @Elibuti OH MY GOD, I FORGOT ALL ABOUT THAT, THANKS FOR REMINDING ME, HONESTLY, IT JUST PURE SLIPPED AWAY FROM ME THERE FOR A SECOND, CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME?

  • ma che bello è?

  • Thomas dutronc à à gauche ?

  • Didier Lockwood so young!

  • je découvre :-O

  • Tommy Emmanuel is a nice guy and a great guitat player but REALLY Bireli is in a different universe altogether--"the heavyweight champion" ... in Martin Taylors words:-)

  • They've been taking lessons. I can tell.

  • when you look at the left.... is that Thomas Dutronc??? :) WOOAWW

  • ..another Bireli head exploding moment at .38

  • Hey, this guy is seriously good. I reckon Tommy Emmanuel would be nodding in appreciation at this.

  • Tommy Emanuel does a good job, but this is just wooooaaarrrh! compared tommy is like ...

  • @dongpingog Tommy is a way more complete guitar player. Birelli can't do anything in front of Tommy if he doesn't play Jazz. Tommy can play anything, that's the main difference

  • @Leonheart44 maybe you should listen to more recordings of Bireli before saying he can ONLY play 1 style? ignorant

  • @nickbaldeagle01 3 weeks ago tommy played in montreal, and he played this style with a jazz trio!! it was a real treat!

  • BOTH AMAZING BUT I PREFER LAGRENE AS I BELIEVE GYPSY TO BE THE BEST STYLE AND POSSIBLY THE MOST DIFFICULT OF ALL. BIRELI MAKES IT LOOK SO EASY.

  • @nickbaldeagle01 Who the fuck is Tommy Emmanuel? The guy plays pop music. He is master of his craft, but seriously people, you are getting on my nerves with T.Emmanuel. This are real masters, grown up in the jazz tradition. No one knew T.E. 10 years ago, Bireli played with Jacko in the eighties. He is a fucking legend and saying that T.E. would be proud of him is just fucking ridiculous.

  • @jazzvec Pop music? Not really. Well, maybe sometimes. He's more of a country player. But whatever. Is Gerschwin not pop?

Anyway that's besides the point. Tommy would be proud of Birelli and nodding in appreciation.

10 years ago Tommy was playing with Chet Atkins and Mark Knopfler so he sure was heard of on the guitar scene.

Jacko? Not sure about that one. Jennifer Batten maybe but not Bireli. Or I might be wrong. But I don't think I am...

  • @nickbaldeagle01 10 years ago no one gave a shit about T.E. - he wasn't famous worldwide like he is now. Lagrene was a prodigy. He improvised authentic django style better than anyone when he was only thirteen years old... check out his album Routes To Django from 1980 and Bireli Swing 81'. He played with Jaco iwhen he was twenty, check out his album Stuttgart Aria from 1986. Please, give me a fucking break with T.E..

  • @jazzvec Aaah. Jaco Pastorious. When you said Jacko I thought you meant wacko jacko.

  • @jazzvec your insane about T.E. - in 1999 Chet Atkins presented Tommy with a Certified Guitar Player award; two years earlier tommy played with Chet on Day the Fingerpickers took over the world (grammy nom). How about Eric Clapton, Atkins, Joe Satriani and Les Paul all giving Tommy the highest praise? I would say other guitar players know who Tommy Emmanuel is. Not bashing Lagrene - hes a phenomenal manouche player (and pretty good with other styles too) - in fact why do we have to bash anyone?

  • @jimraw1 Please, Chet Atkins gave the award to himself first, it was a joke, later on he "awarded" some other players and I guarantee you that you don't know anyone of them. Further more -Eric Clapton- he plays his pentatonic bending whole his life. You cannot compare Clapton with Lagrene - it is like comparing Avril Lavinge with Pavarotti, they are booth good in their respective styles, but there is no doubt about who is better player...

  • @jazzvec well that makes sense about Atkins except for the fact that he recorded an album with T.E. Yeah I guess Les Paul and Joe Satriani are pikers - they really suck. Oh yes - how about Doc Watson, perhaps the greatest flatpicker of our generation - he called T.E. amazing. Btw - I'll take Paco de Lucia over everyone. Don't understand the reason to praise one guitarist while slamming another.

  • @jimraw1 I am not slamming anyone. I am just saying you are comparing incomparable and that pisses me of. Leave folk players like Les Paul, D. Watson and T.Emmanuel and rock players like Satriani and Clepton in their respective places and don't try to compare them with players like Lagrene. And how the hell do you want to compare Paco and Birely? This whole thing started by someone commenting on this vid by saying something like T.E. would be proud - which is nonsense. That is all I wanted to say.

  • FARKING INTENZE 2 DA MAX!!!

  • Amazing guitar work, and in fact none of these guys are slouches, including the bass player. Fantastic!

  • BIRELI BIRELI

and i don't forget DIDI and BABY DUTRONC

  • I've heard that Hono is the nicest guy you could ever meet, but he always looks like he's about to kick someone's ass. Nous'che has the same look, maybe it's a rhythm thing!

    This vid is AWESOME!

  • Bireli looks like Django!!!

  • @orlandoCF1, absolutely!!

  • @orlandoCF1 I was gonna say the same but you beat me up 1 year early

  • @orlandoCF1 oh yeeeaaahhh!

  • guitarist on left lost his place at 1:00, he looks at the bass for help.....listin very carefully and you'll like one off chord...real pros never show mistakes

  • no he didn't lose his place ! plus all pros make mistakes here and there . enjoy the music

  • ur wrong sir, he didn't lost his place, dunno where did u hear that...

About being pro and not showing mistakes its ur opinion, but that doesn't make it true

Next time just listen the music, but be careful you might think there is something wrong just because its too advanced for ur ears!

  • first off it looks like he loses his place...secondly my sound quality limits my comping audio...finally i got rhythm isn't exactly a complicated one...

  • Who are you anyway? Actually, who cares?

  • I think if Thomas Dutronc plays with Bireli he can be considered a real pro

  • "old man river" at :45

  • It's like watching a chubby Django with a Stef the needs a hair cut.

  • Hahaha! The trading off sounds just like it though!

  • title didnt lie

  • Rockin good jazz guitar. Django lives!

  • thomas dutron à gauche...

  • Hono Winterstein à droite...

  • Why is it when people down talk fast playing, they do it about all fast playing? Every time? Sounds like an agenda. Does all speedy playing suck, or (as I suspect) is it just a knee-jerk response to the approach? Of course the melody is lost during the fast stuff (sometimes), or else it WOULD be boring and contrived. Not all fast playing is bad or boring. Some of it is just fun. And there's nothing wrong with fun.

  • exactly. makes one wonder......"too many notes for whom?"

  • I'm ranting, of course, but the anti-speed nazis just come out everytime and hem and haw about everything fast and its as if there is no place for any fast playing. As if playing fast will unlock some deep dark secrets that they don't want us to know... I'm being ridiculous, of course...or am I? Is there a conspiracy? hmmmm...

  • people talk about claplton? clapped out wud be more like it!! he cud not hold a candle to this guy!!

  • indeed, apples are nowhere near oranges

  • Aah thats to bad a Clapton remark has to be made,I love em both, Im so glad Clapton did White Room- Badge -Layla and all the rest And I so Glad Bireli does what he does.Dig em both and get past the noncense.

  • I don't know. Good I guess, but I lost the melody. Fast isn't everythingCheck out the youtube video of John Pizzarelli's "I Got Rhythm"

  • pizzarellis version is pre written. Bireli does not really play pre practices stuff. Its almost 100% improvised >.> that is why this is special and only maybe 5 people on EARTh can do it. 100% of those few are gypsy jazz players, nobody else can do that, not even joe pass, he idolized django and stated many times he cannot ever be as good as him

  • Bireli is special because he is a gypsy jazz guitarist....like jimmy rosenberg or django...however when bireli improvs it sounds much different.....hes at his best when hes playin electric and you can tell how different he is from other players. He does weird freaky stuff...his playing is like a mixture of george benson and stochelo....and no one can imitate it.

  • my thoughts exactly man. he'd be a scary fusion player with his chops, too, if he so felt the need to play that. i'm happy with him doing standards, though!

  • find his front page and electric side. album....it competes with greg howes fusion stuff

  • First of all. I didn't mean to down on Bireli. Gypsy jazz is a lot like bebop in that it gets a lot of its energy from the tempo. That's definitely cool. Also... Pizarelli's improvising 100%. Guarantee it. What makes you think otherwise?

  • Magnific!!!

  • Tha Masters!!!!! Ole
