  • Creative Tapping, also known as, licks that Shawn Lane used to play one handed.

  • Ur sick man..haha..sometimes i wonder y God doesn't make all human alike.ur just soo unique man..outstanding

  • not that it really matters, wonder what his t-shirt says

  • @ZOMBIELANDakaUSA it says GOD and "shaday" which means the door guardian of israel (meaning the jewish people)

  • @maghetz10

    thanks

  • Derryl makes even great tappers like Reb Beach sound like childs play. He is one of the few guitarist truly pushing the possibilities of instrument forward and upward. Always a treat to hear what he is doing.

  • nice work Derryl! Been following you since your guest appearance on Tierra Del Fuego.

  • Obviously the lower the action the easier it is for tapping. I would just recommend experimenting. I personally think you would have no problem playing your style on my guitar the way it is set up. The key is to have a lighter attack when the action is lower.

  • Derryl, I play blues, but practice ideas outside of biues to keep my style as unique to myself as the form allows.. How much of this do you think can be mastered without re-setting-up a guitar specifically for tapping?

  • hebrew!

  • thats the most effortless tapping I have ever seen!

  • where can i find tabs for 00:44?

  • @Roger3001 Send me an email and I'll send you the tab. My email address is derrylgabel@gmail.com

  • These videos are awesome! I downloaded 2 of your songs off of Gnarly Geezer almost a Decade Ago. Awesome to finally see whats going on!

  • i have a question about that guitar im thinking about buying a holdsworth but the 20 inch radius thing freaks me out can you explain is it more difficult to play on compared to like a 14 or 16 inch radius which is probley what you have on your other carvin the double cutaway i mean thanks mate

  • H2T is great! The radius is not a problem and is very comfortable. My only complaint is the guitar is not balanced enough. If you don't do any tapping then it's not a big deal. Whenever I'm tapping while standing up the neck tends to fall towards the floor. I suppose I could move the strap but I don't want to drill in the guitar.

  • Is there any kind of "trick" to getting your legato to sound that smooth?

For some reason, my various legato and tapping licks tend to not sound quite as clear when descending, and it seems like it has something to do with the angle of my pull-offs or wrist position... or something.

  • One thing that is helpful is to have extremely low action and very little relief or bow in the neck and light guage strings. Then it's a matter of a lot of quality practice. Start slow and gradually work up to tempo.

  • talk about technique

  • Hey Derryl!

Very creative new stuff as always!

I really enjoy of your tapping playing - it`s amazing!

    Take care, my friend!

  • So smooth, Derryl! Love your stuff!

  • Great stuff as usual Derryl!

  • Those where a few of the tapping ideas. There are 50 examples on the DVD. To see some of the tapping ideas "in action" in an improvisational setting check out some of my other video clips.

  • yeah, all the licks on the DVD are transcribed in standard notation and tab using the Power Tab and PDF format. The DVD also includes the Power Tab software.

  • do you have tab for these amazin licks man
