The only extant recording I had ever heard of this was on an old vinyl recording from the "Music of the Baroque Era" Readers Digest series--with FULL choir.
This is the first time I've heard this digitally. Love the acoustics! One of the warmest, sweetest pieces of music I have ever heard, from any era.
If you ever want to truly impress people with an eclectic, obscure yet brilliant gem, play this for them--Buxtehude wasn't just an organist!
Love this work since 50+ years and still sounds magnificient as ever. Reminds me, beauty-wise and spiritually, a bit of Arcangelo Corelli's "Christmas Concerto" in G Minor. Klasse Komposition des Lübecker Meisters!.
This was my first meeting with Buxtehude as a young baryton in the Oslo Chatedral Boy's Choir some 10 years ago. A truly beautiful piece. I love the ritonellos.
Thank you... this was thoroughly enjoyable.

definitely fun to listen to, but would be that much better with a gamba & a counter-tenor (or a mezzo sans vibrato, if one exists)

I have recently discovered Buxtehude's music, and I have adored every piece so far. Shame he is not better known.

Non siamo sicuri che Questo MAgnificat sia di Buxtehude, ma è ugualmente un pezzo degno del celbre compositore! plaudo
