Dwele has so many positive HIDDEN messages in this song that come out when you listen with your heart. Everyone scratches the surface when they say its the Truth. Weekend Lover, I feel, is a metaphor to a relationship with that special someone. What he describes "after all this time" can be taken literal but I really think he's hinting to that deep inner question of a soul mate and the different (life) "times" we have shared together.
