  • Why test the gap with a dollar bill when ther's no bottom gasket on the egg??? Of course theres going to be a gap??

  • @Texsun1359 Why wouldn't there be a bottom gasket?

  • @Texsun1359

If you watch and listen to the entire video, at time of 2:57 in the video I explain that I was doing an experiment with a double-thick top gasket (just on the top instead of the usual setup) to see if it would correct that particular grills "gap" problems ...so that is the explanation...the Egg is calibrated for 2 x 1/8" gaskets ...for the experiment I used ONE 1/4" inch gasket ..just to see what would happen. All ln the name of Grill Science.

  • Bummer!!! Opened our BGE and needs a gasket replacement. Would have been nice just to do the top, but oh well. Good to know about the acetone as a cleaning agent. Happy grilling.

  • @patuxent01

just go easy on the acetone or any solvent ...and after using it, allow things to dry before applying the spray-glue etc. Happy Eggin.

  • Thanks ...here's to your new gasket ... if you want it to last ...stay under 700 degrees !!

  • Fred, THANKS. You made my gasket change super-easy. I'd buy u a beer if we lived near by. Instead, I raise a beer in your honour!
